ASTRO FOR YOU You will focus your attention today on your beloved. You will feel very energetic, but your commitment to work will falter. So don’t be surprised if your superiors are annoyed. Today is a day for romantic pursuits. This day you will tend to be too bossy, too harsh on your subordinates or employees and end up making them miserable as well as hostile. Their insubordination could corrode the respect you get and, in addition, make things unworkable. This acrimony and ill will is sure to spread and foul up your larger professional connections and interests. So be particularly sane and sensible. Conduct yourself as you would normally do. You will listen to your heart over your head, swept away as you will be in a flood of emotions today. This could mean that you will be unable to distinguish between good and bad. However, looking back upon your day in the evening, you are unlikely to regret any of the decisions you made. You will begin the day with a definite plan for a bright future. You will resolutely implement plans that you have made thoughtfully. Such methodical decisions will save you a lot of time in the future. You will succeed in every endeavour today. It is an important day for you. Everyone in the office will accept your capabilities and will praise you. You may incur expenses on entertainment and luxuries. Your financial difficulties will now be solved. It is better to have an eye on long term gains. A progressive day on the whole. An unusual dose of creativity will motivate you to make a trip to some exotic place and mingle with new people. You will have some experiences that will enrich you mentally and emotionally. But don’t unpack yet, there may be another adventure on the cards. You will be very flexible and adaptable today. Today promises to be a joy ride for your hidden gourmand side. Relish what you eat, and thank God for the good luck. Career wise, however, you may find yourself standing at a crossroads. But, the good part about that is there shall be many paths to choose from. And, who knows the art of balancing better than you. The latter half of the day promises to bring some monetary gains. You are one social butterfly today. However, shunning the gossips, you spread kindness and happiness in your social groups. People will look up to you today for this reason. What goes around, comes around; spread joy and you are sure to receive joy. Suddenly, you become ambidextrous and plan to multi task today. Your instincts will guide you today; trust them and move ahead. You may come across few challenges. But, anyway, who wants an easy way out, right? You firmly believe in the concept of ‘health is wealth’. You have maintained a very good health so far and it will not be an issue today, also. Successful completion of current projects seem to be a distant target, however, you will finish them off. Your boss may get upset with you for not completing the work on time. You will put monetary issues on the back burner for the day. It’s family time, and your near and dear will be mighty pleased. You will pamper and fuss over them, and will even pull funny faces to make them smile. Your love and affection will undoubtedly pay off, and come back to you in more ways than one. Within adversity, lie the lessons of success; avoid having to resort to that philosophy by implementing your plans, if they are well thought out, in a phased manner. This will help you achieve your targets.

Khan said that the remaining $700 million which has been purchased will be paid on the due date, which he, however, did not divulge. The RBI deputy governor's assurance that the rupee value will not be impacted assumes significance as the Indian currency has been under some pressure lately due to yuan devaluation and choppy world equity markets. Recent measures like the

RBI's September 29 decision to give greater access to foreign funds to invest in government-backed bonds have given some boost to the rupee. Recently, the RBI notified its decision to give greater access to governmentbacked securities for foreign funds. The RBI's moves are expected to usher in around $2.5 billion by this fiscal end. This led rupee to gain some stability in recent weeks. However, on Thursday,

the rupee got depreciated by nine paise to close at 65.05 to a US dollar from its previous close of 64.96, which was an eight-week high. According to currency analysts, the RBI is current comfortable in rupee ranging anywhere between 65-66 to a US dollar. Any extreme movements due to volatility triggers the central bank to sell or buy dollars in the open market to stabilize the rupee. (Agencies)

Guinness Book of World Records for the idol whose exact height has been kept under wraps. The idol is being made with cement and not from traditional clay due to its unprecedented height and there will be fiberglass coating on it, the organisers said. "Despite being a gigantic structure, the deity will retain all the features of a traditional Durga idol and there will be no compromise in aesthetic and devotional aspects," sculptor Mintu Pal said from the spot where work is going on at a frantic pace. The fire brigade and police have given their no objection to the idol on the condition that it will not be inside the pandal and the

puja committee is following it in "letter and spirit", the organisers said. According to the fire brigade conditions, such a tall idol cannot be kept inside a makeshift pandal so it will be put up just outside the pandal with the sky as its canopy, the organisers said. The puja organisers have also launched a contest to speculate the exact height of the idol. "While the contest is for calculating the exact height, the idol by all estimates is going to be a gigantic one, a landmark by all means," Kumar said. PM Modi should have chosen his words more carefully, says RJD (ANI) Patna, Oct 9: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national spokesperson Manoj Jhaon Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have chosen his words carefully when addressing a rally in Munger yesterday, as he had denigrated not only Lalu Yadav, but also all inhabitants of Bihar and the backward classes. Taking strong objection to Prime Minister Modi's reference to a ' Shaitan' (Devil) being ensconced in Lalu and justifying his decision to move the Election Commission of India to act against the former, Jha said, "He is the Prime Minister of India, he should have chosen his words carefully. He not only denigrated Lalu ji, but all Biharis, backwards and

Dalits. Bihar felt insulted because of the 'shaitaan' remark, we were under tremendous pressure from our constituency to go and complain to the chief electoral

officer." Jha said that it pained them to come to the Election Commission with the RJD's complaint, because generally in a democracy, one thinks twice be-

fore complaining about the Prime Minister. "It not only violates Article 2, 3 of the Model Code of Conduct, but also, violates Section 153 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A message has to go to the people concerned. They (BJP) should be barred from organising further rallies, strict action should be taken so that the idea of a free and fair election turns into reality. That is what we have asked of the chief election commissioner, and we have demanded it," he added. During the rallies at Munger and Begusarai on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi played up Prasad's alleged comment of a 'shaitan' (devil) straddling his tongue when making his Hindus also eat beef comment.

(ANI) Aurangabad, Oct. 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a fresh volley of attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying that the latter had broken all his promises on development and added that he defended 'jungle raj' way more than RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. "Nitish condemned jungle raj when he was with the BJP and now he is silent. He promised so many things, including state-wise electricity. Has anything come true? The only thriving industry during jungle raj is kidnapping," Prime Minister Modi said while addressing a rally here. Lambasting the grand alliance, he added that for 60 years they were incapable of doing any development in the state. "When you vote this election, don't forget the history of the 'mahaswarthbandhan'. They are the same people,

who are responsible for the current state of affairs in Bihar. For 60 years they did not even create jobs, leaving the youth to fend for themselves," the Prime Minister added. Addressing a rally in Sasaram earlier, Prime Minister Modi had taken on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and questioned his absence from the

campaigning in the run up to the assembly polls. "What did the RJD chief do that he was barred from contesting the polls? The people of Bihar must ask Laluji as to why he is out of the elections this time? What did he do? He calls himself the big boss of Bihar and wants to run this state with a remote control," he said.

Bihar will punish the guilty on October 16: PM Modi (ANI) Sasaram, Oct. 9: Dubbing the grand alliance as 'mahaswarthbandhan', Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a frontal attack on RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and said that the people of Bihar would on October 16 punish those who have ruined the state. "The atmosphere I see, I compliment leaders of NDA, BJP that they had courage to hold rally in such a big ground. You are India's Supreme Court, Bihar's law makers. You are the ones who have to punish the people who have done

wrong. On 16th October, you will punish those who have ruined this state," Prime Minister Modi said while addressing a rally in Sasaram. Attacking the 'mahagathbandhan, the Prime Minister said the alliance, which ruled the state for 60 years failed miserably in living up to its promises. "Congress for 35, Bade Bhai and Chhote Bhai for another 25 years. All three are such, who have fought each other at some point of time or the other. They never came together over the issue of

Bihar's development," Prime Minister Modi said. Questioning Lalu's absence from the campaigning in the run up to the assembly polls, Prime Minister Modi called him a 'big boss' who wants run Bihar with a remote control."What did the RJD chief do that he was barred from contesting the polls? The people of Bihar must ask Laluji as to why he is out of the elections this time? What did he do? Munger, Bihar, yesterday had slammed the RJD supremo over his beef remark. He used the RJD chief's clarification that it was ' shaitan' (demon) that forced his tongue to speak out such a thing to take potshots at him. "How did shaitan find his ( Lalu's) address? Why did shaitan choose him among all people in the entire state, nation and the world? Should the people of Bihar allow the person in whom shaitan resides to rule the state?" asked Prime Minister Modi. Aizawl, Oct 9: The Mizoram Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution appreciating the Indian government's efforts to realise provisions of the United Nations' Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (DRIPS) and asked that such efforts be continued and stepped up. The UN's DRIPS was accepted by the international body's General Assembly in 2007 after more than two decades of negotiations. A total of 143 countries, including India, voted in its favour. The state assembly's resolution whose wording was slightly amended after more than three hours of discussion that saw 15 legislators including Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and Home Minister R Lalzirliana supporting it -was moved by Leader of the Opposition Vanlalzawma, a former Lok Sabha MP and leader of the Mizo National Front. Four other members separately

moved the same resolution, which Speaker Hiphei clubbed into one for the convenience of discussions. All the members who took part in yesterday's discussion spoke on two main themes. One was that the Centre sometimes did not fully consider local terrain, customs and traditions while implementing policy or undertaking develop-

mental works. Another was the hope that the resolution would assist in realising the unity, at some point in time, of ethnic Mizos spread over eastern Bangladesh and western Myanmar as well as neighbouring states such as Tripura, Assam and Manipur. The assembly's adoption of the resolution was immediately applauded by various

organisations including the Zo Re-unification Organisation or ZORO (which spearheaded efforts to get the Mizo community included in the UN's list of indigenous peoples), the Zo Indigenous Forum and the Zoram Nationalist Party, which currently does not have an MLA but whose leaders are vocal about safeguarding tribal rights. The Mizoram Assembly's move comes amidst similar calls to safeguard tribal rights by various Mizo groups including the Mizo Students' Union, which this week resolved to approach the government to to push for the designation of Mizoram as a "tribal area" under the Constitution's sixth schedule and to amend the Mizo tribe list in the Indian Constitution of India. SC agrees to levy green tax in Delhi (ANI) New Delhi, Oct. 9: The Supreme Court on Friday gave a go ahead to the levying of a green tax in the national capital. The apex court, which heard a plea filed by top lawyer Harish Salve, also issued an order levying an additional surcharge on commercial vehicles entering Delhi to deter them from entering the city and causing acute air pollution. The Supreme Court, in its ruling, said the cess to be paid by Light Commercial Vehicles besides the toll fee would be Rs. 700, and Rs. 1,300 for two, three-axle vehicles and above. Sunita Narayan , the petitioner in this case, expressed her delight with the Supreme Court's verdict. "The decision of the SC today is one of the biggest decisions for the city. Winters are approaching and the pollution level will go up," she said. Narayan also informed the media that essential commodities will not have to pay cess. "Food

grains, milk, oil tankers will not be charged any cess. Ambulance and passenger busses will also be exempted," she said. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have also agreed to cooperate with the Delhi Government. "The Chief Justice of India has said that if anyone has any problems, we will hear it after four months," she said. According to a study by the Delhi-based Center

for Science and Environment, trucks from north to south and east to west could easily bypass the capital but they choose to enter the city as the surcharge in Delhi is a third of what they would have to pay as toll if they use the highways. An estimated 85,000 vehicles enter the city daily and contribute towards 30 percent of the air pollution.

Banning Ghulam Ali is our tribute to Indian martyrs: Shiv Sena

(ANI) New Delhi, Oct. 9: Shiv Sena, through their mouthpiece Saamna, on Friday defended their move of banning Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali from performing in Mumbai, saying that this was a tribute to all the Indian soldiers, who had died in the recent ceasefire violations, and added that boy-

cotting Pakistan in all forms was the only way to fight back. "Some people may have a problem with what we did, but we have no regrets. We have done our national duty. This is a tribute to all our martyrs, who died at the hands of Pakistan's cowardly hands. Raising war memorials is not

enough, you need to give a stern reply and that is what we have done," The Saamna editorial said. The Sena mouthpiece asserted that Ghulam Ali may be a great singer but he still was a Pakistani and also warned the hostile neighbour that until it fixed its ways, India would not welcome them in any way, including cricket matches. The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government, however, extended an invitation to the Pakistani singer to perform in the national capital. Delhi Culture Minister Kapil Mishra said that Ghulam Ali is welcome to hold a performance in Delhi. "Sad that GhulamAli is not being allowed in Mumbai, I invite him to come to Delhi and do the concert. Music has no boundaries," he tweeted.

MEA official spokesperson Vikas Swarup said the Indian mission in Riyadh is actively pursuing the matter with the Saudi authorities. "We have

raised the issue on 7th October with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and asked for strict action in the matter and severe punishment for the sponsor," he said, adding that the police chief has assured a speedy and fair investigation into the matter. Swarup said the MEA and the Indian mission in Riyadh are monitoring the situation of the victim, and are in touch with her family to extend all necessary support to overcome this difficult phase. "At the same time, the MEA contin-

ues to pursue this matter on all levels with the Saudi officials, to ensure speedy justice for her," he added. Swarup further said the Mission officials have met the chief as well as the investigating officer of the police station and have requested that the victim's Statement be recorded without further delay. "An independent probe must be undertaken on the incident and a case of attempted murder be lodged against the sponsor. The sponsor must also be directed to pay for her

ongoing treatment," he added. The right hand of a 55-year-old woman from Vellore, Tamil Nadu, who worked as a help in Saudi Arabia, was chopped off by her employer. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has condemned the incident. "We are very much disturbed over the brutal manner in which Indian lady has been treated in Saudi Arabia. This is unacceptable. Breaking silence not enough, act against ministers: Congress tells PM Modi (ANI) New Delhi, Oct. 9: The Congress Party on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate action against his Cabinet colleagues for their uncalled for comments on the Dadri lynching incident. Congress leader Rashid Alvi, who was reacting to Prime Minister Modi's remark apparently referring to the Dadri case during an election rally in Nawada, Bihar, on Thursday, said merely breaking silence on the untoward incident is not enough. "He is the Prime Minister of the country, he should act against his ministers who irresponsibly commented on the unfortunate incident of Dadri," Alvi told. "Would he sack Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma from his

Cabinet? Would he initiate any action against the MP of Gorakhpur who also commented irresponsibly on the Dadri lynching case?" he asked. The Congress leader further said the latest remarks made by

the leaders of the ruling party on the Dadri case was a ploy by the ruling dispensation at the Centre. "This is their policy, that the ministers keep disturbing the atmosphere and the Prime Minister keeps comment-

ing so that everything looks normal," he added. In an apparent reference to the Dadri lynching incident, Prime Minister Modi had yesterday urged all not to make irresponsible statements for petty gains. "I have said it earlier too. Hindus should decide whether to fight Muslims or poverty. Muslims have to decide whether to fight Hindus or poverty. Both need to fight poverty together. The country has to stay united, only communal harmony and brotherhood will take the nation forward. People should ignore controversial statements made by politicians, as they are doing so for political gains," he said while referring to President Pranab Mukherjee's statement to drive home his point.

Lord Ahmed raises questions about human rights in Yemen (ANI) London, Oct. 9: Britain's House of Lords member Lord Nazir Ahmed has raised a volley of questions in relation to human rights issues and current situation in Yemen and other countries. He asked the government what assessment they have made of the BBC Newsnight report of September 10 that presented evidence of attacks on civilians in Yemen. The government said that they were aware of reports of alleged violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) in

Yemen by all sides to the conflict and takes these very seriously, The Nation has reported. It said, "We have raised our concerns with the Saudi Arabian government and have received repeated assurances of IHL compliance and continue to engage with them on those assurances. We have also raised our concerns with the Houthis on the importance of compliance with IHL and international human rights law. A political solution is the best way to bring long term stability to Yemen and avoid

a humanitarian catastrophe. The UK fully and actively supports the UN's efforts to achieve an end to the conflict". Lord Ahmed asked the government whether they have made any assessment of the intervention by Saudi Arabia in Yemen, and whether they are aware of any war crimes committed in relation to that intervention. Baroness Evans of Bowes Park replied that the UK is supportive of the Saudi Arabian-led Coalition military intervention, which came at the request of President

Hadi, to deter aggression by the Houthis and forces loyal to the former president Saleh, and allow for the return of the legitimate Yemeni government. Lord Ahmed also asked the Government whether they are supporting any peace initiatives between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Response from Baroness Evans of Bowes Park was; "A sustainable and inclusive political solution is the best way to bring longterm stability to Yemen and avoid a humanitarian catastrophe.

people and injured 37 others on Saturday. There were more than 80 staff members inside the hospital at the time of the bombing. US President Barack Obama on Wednesday apologised to the director of the organization for theairstrike in Kunduz, that the Pentagon admitted was a mistake. However, General John F. Campbell, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, had said that the strike was

called in by Afghan forces on the ground, who were fighting Taliban after the militant group successfully recaptured the major city, marking the first success for the group since the U.S. invasion. Doctors Without Borders has urged an independent probe into the tragedy and called the bombing a war crime. Meanwhile, the Pentagon is conducting its separate investigation.

"The Maharashtra Government was not against the performance, in fact they were offering additional security but if the organisers are against it completely then what is to be done?" Naqvi told

here. He added that music cannot be mapped in boundaries and politics over it was a tasteless matter. After being banned from performing in Mumbai and Pune by the Shiv Sena, Ghulam Ali has been invited to perform in Kolkata and Delhi. Myanmar official accuses China of meddling in rebel peace talks Yangon, Oct 9 : A top negotiator in Myanmar's peace talks with ethnic rebels has accused neighboring China of derailing a nationwide ceasefire deal last week that would have brought Japan and Western nations in as observers to monitor an end to decades of conflict.Beijing has denied the accusation but the rare public criticism exposes growing tensions between China and the Southeast Asian nation, which has sought to reduce its dependence on Beijing and build relations across the globe since a reformist government took power in 2011.Min Zaw Oo, a senior official at the government-linked Myanmar Peace Center, which coordinates talks to quell the patchwork of insurgencies that have lingered in Myanmar since independence in 1948, said China's special envoy pressed two key rebel groups not to sign the peace accord. After Sun Guoxiang's intervention, only eight out of 15 groups that were invited by

Blogger killing propels Bangladesh onto CPJ Global Impunity Index Dhaka, Oct 9: The hacking deaths of bloggers in Bangladesh this year propelled the country onto Global Impunity Index of Community to Protect Journalists (CPJ).According to the survey released , Bangladesh ranked 12 among 14 countries where journalists are murdered and their killers go unpunished. The report reads: "A wave of violence against bloggers has landed Bangladesh back onto the index for the first time since 2011."Bangladesh was not on the 2014 index. According to the report, at least four

Bangladeshi bloggers have been hacked to death by apparent Islamic extremists this year alone, and a total of five of Bangladesh's seven victims of unsolved murders over the last decade are bloggers who criticized religious extremism."Brazen attacks against bloggers like American-Bangladeshi Avijit Roy, who was pulled from a rickshaw by machetewielding assailants outside a book fair in Dhaka, have been followed by a handful of arrests, but in only one case since 2005, Gautam Das, have the perpetrators been

tried and convicted," it added. It also criticized the role of the government citing that "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the nominally secular ruling Awami League party have done little to speak out for justice in these crimes, allowing political interests to trump rule of law."Authorities seem more concerned with what bloggers are writing than going after their killers."In the wake of this unchecked terror, several bloggers have fled into exile, it added. India blames protests for freight bottleneck Kathmandu, Oct 9: India has reiterated its stance that it has not imposed any blockade on Nepal-official or unofficial.Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said Indian freight forwarders were unable to move trucks across to Nepal due to the obstruction caused by the protesting political parties on Nepal's side. He added India had alerted Nepal to address the state of insecurity along Nepal's border with India to normalize the supply."The need of the hour is for Nepal to set its house in order and reach out to its people in the spirit of reconciliation so that border obstruction eases at the earliest," Swarup said during a media briefing."Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Nepal twice-in August and November last year. On both occasions, he called for a constitution that

is broad-based. Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar also talked about maximum consensus on constitution writing during their visits to Kathmandu this year," said Swarup.

"But one section of the population feels marginalised and excluded from the constitution making process."On growing anti-India sentiment in Nepal, he said Nepal was responsible for this. "We have never been prescriptive. We never said this is the kind of constitution you should have," he said. "India's position of resolving the current problem either by constitution amendment or by dialogue remains unchanged."Stating that India had not thought that the Madhes agitation would last long, Swarup said over 5,000 vehicles were waiting at six of the nine border points."Due to the obstruction on Nepal's side, Indian Oil Corporation has not been able to transport petroleum products," he said. Swarup added strike in Birgunj had affected rail cargo traffic. (Agencies)

Cyber Crime Assam Police Website Hacked by Cyber Crooks In a bizarre incident, the official website of the Assam police was hacked by cyber crooks recently. After it came to light, the incident set off alarm bells in the State administration, forcing it to disable over 20 websites of various departments as a preventive measure. These websites include www.assam.cag.gov.in, www.assam.nic.in, www.ahsec.nic.in and www.ssaassam.gov.in. It has been learnt that the cyber crooks changed contents of some government websites, which forced the NIC Assam to take down the websites to avoid trouble. The media in the State too was a victim of the latest wave of cyber attacks. On Monday, the website of a leading vernacular daily was hacked. However, it was restored within a day. Also with increasing use of information technology (IT) enabled services such as e-governance, online business and electronic transactions protection of personal and sensitive data have assumed paramount importance. As per reports mobile frauds are an area of concern for companies as well as 35-40% of financial transactions are done via mobile devices and this is expected and this is expected to grow to 5560% by 2015, adds the study. Increasing smartphone sales and usage in India, the number of people falling victim to such crimes is also on the rise. The number of cyber crime victims in India (2012) was 46 million people against the global average of 560 million.During the years 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 (till May), a total number of 21,699, 27,605, 28,481, 48,174 Indian websites were hacked by various hacker group spread across worldwide and likely to touch 85,000 by 2015, adds the study. It may be also mentioned that a few weeks back, Pakistani hackers defaced 24 government websites of Chhattisgarh and Kerala. This was followed by an attack on a Pakistani government website Municipal Services Program Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (www.mspkp.gov.pk) by a group calling itself 'Hell Shield Hackers', as a retaliation against Pakistani hackers. As per another study, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra have occupied the top 3 positions when it comes to cyber crimes registered under the new IT Act in India. Interestingly, these three states together contribute more than 70 per cent to India's revenue from IT and IT related industries. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), in 2013, 681 cyber crime related cases have been registered in Maharashtra, which has seen a 44.6 per cent rise in cyber crimes when compared to 2012. Andhra Pradesh with 635 cases registered in 2013 has also seen a 48 per cent rise when compared to 2012. Karnataka with 513 cases registered in 2013 has seen a 24.5 per cent rise when compared to 2012. Uttar Pradesh with 372 cases registered in 2013 is in the fourth place. It has seen a huge rise of 81.5 per cent in just one year. Kerala is in the 5th place with 349 cases registered in 2013. Among the Union Territories, the national capital Delhi has registered 131 cyber crime related cases. It has seen a rise of 72.4 per cent when compared to 2012.

Ads banned ASCI bans 82 ads for misrepresentations Nowadays, in the 21st century, the advertisements have become a powerful tool for the companies to attract the customers globally. With this growing trend, the companies have started portraying false and misleading advertisement and attract the global customers. These false and misleading advertisements have an adverse effect on the customers all over the world. Our Indian advertisements are highly exaggerated and no one can deny this. They made fake promises and ambitious claims about the product. But there are some big brands we believe in, and they also end up exploiting us. It is often said the consumer behavior towards any product or goal is highly based on the advertisement that reach to the general either by print media or by electronic media. Even researches have already proven that there are many types of medium generated out of the ads which effect any consumers. Sometimes the advertising companies take the help of many big celebrities to endorse their products especially beauty products for both the gender. But bringing in some soothing effects for us all ASCI will have none of such advertisement anymore. The Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) under the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) received 148 complaints from different segments from which 82 advertisements are banned! Remaining are upheld in which 26 belonged to the Personal and Healthcare category, followed by 22 advertisements in the Education category, 9 advertisements in Food and Beverage category, 7 advertisements in media and entertainment category and 18 advertisements from other categories. The ads that are banned involves some prominent companies like L'Oreal India, CavinKare, Vicco Laboratories, Thyrocare, Amity University, Institute of Finance Banking and Insurance, Heinz India P. Ltd (Complan), TV 18Broadcast (CNBC), Living Media Ltd (India Today),Internet Pvt Ltd, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Uber, Vodafone Essar Ltd, Honda Activa, and Snapdeal. As per the report, these ads are either misleading or false or not adequately/ scientifically substantiated and hence violating ASCI's Code. India has a self-regulatory organization (SRO) for advertising content - The Advertising Standards Council of India. The three main constituents of advertising industry - advertisers, advertising agencies and media- came together to form this independent NGO in 1985. The aim of ASCI is to maintain and enhance the public's confidence in advertising. Their mandate is that all advertising material must be truthful, legal and honest, decent and not objectify women, safe for consumers - especially children, and also fair to their competitors. If any person finds the released ad objectionable, he/she can write to ASCI with their complaint. This complaint will be deliberated on by the CCC after providing due process to advertiser to defend the ad against the complaint and depending on whether the ad is in alignment with the ASCI code and law, the complaint is upheld or not upheld and if upheld then the ad is voluntarily either withdrawn or modified.

How China Is Changing the UN "The Chinese leadership derives legitimacy from its constructive role in matters of peace and development." Janka Oertel When asking Chinese officials late last year about foreign policy priorities for 2015, the 70th anniversaries of the end of World War II and the founding of the United Nations were usually named among the top five. The importance China attributed to these events was not in Europe, where commemorations of the past were vastly overshadowed by the challenges of the present. However, the opening of the 70th session of the General Assembly did serve as a reminder of why the UN is still one of the few constants in international relations. In these turbulent times, the gathering of world leaders that allows for an open exchange and many behind the scenes encounters has not lost its relevance. The anniversary celebrations in connection with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Peacekeeping Summit led to an audience packed with world leaders - a degree of high-level representation that New York witnesses only every five to ten years. The setting thus served as an ideal stage for Xi Jinping's first appearance at the United Nations. It was a wisely chosen opportunity for the president to lay out China's agenda for the future. Xi Jinping addressed his colleagues on the banks of the East River at three occasions. He used the undivided attention of the international community to not only indulge in standard Chinese Communist Party rhetoric but also make concrete announcements. It was the first opportunity for the international community to get an idea of the future role Xi wishes for his country to play within the United Nations. At the Sustainable Development Summit, Xi pledged to provide an assistance fund worth $2 billion for South-South cooperation in support of developing countries and promised to increase its support for the least developed countries to $12 billion by 2030. Additionally, China will provide debt relief to least developed and landlocked countries as well as small island states. Xi underlined that China has contributed greatly to the realization of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and given a strong burst to global development by providing aid to more than 160 countries with more than half a million aid workers. And indeed, the partial success of the MDG initiative to foster global development can, to a significant degree, be attributed

to China's domestic efforts in lifting millions of people out of poverty. This process was not driven by the MDG initiative as such, but the Chinese leadership successfully linked its own development agenda to the efforts of the United Nations providing an international narrative for its achievements. And the UN has benefited from this somewhat artificial link, making the MDGs seem much more helpful than they actually were. Xi presents China as a potent partner for the United Nations in development issues and continuously stresses the virtuous cycle of stability, development, and peace. His message went out especially to the African delegates in the audience, underlining China's commitment to the continent, where China has vested business interests. But it is not all about business. Key to China's UN policy is its identity as a member of the developing world, and the reassurance of political support from African countries. The political symbolism of the UN is important for the Communist Party. It is constitutive to its legitimacy ever since UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 "restored the lawful rights" of the

PRC with the support of the developing countries. It marked the final victory of the CCP over the Kuomintang and the international acceptance of the People's Republic as a member of the international community. The UN has since been a cornerstone of China's foreign policy, but it was only under Hu Jintao that UN policy gained prominence and became much more nuanced and professional. Xi is upholding this clear commitment to the UN, but at the same time his appearance in New York indicates that the linear evolution of China's engagement will receive an upgrade and be transformed into an even more visible UN role. After a somewhat lengthy speech in the General Assembly filled with standard phrases and little news, Xi saved the best for last: He announced that China would not only build a permanent peacekeeping police squad but also a peacekeeping standby force of 8,000 troops. The scale of this announcement came as a surprise. During the subsequent Peacekeeping Summit, which took place upon the invitation of U.S. President Barack Obama,

Xi gave a detailed account on the substance of China's future peacekeeping engagement. It will include more engineering, transport, and medical staff but also the first-ever helicopter squad from China to join UN operations. In addition to this impressive stand-by force, China will provide financial and military assistance to the African Union, training to international peacekeepers, and de-mining assistance programs. Put into action, China's commitment is far from symbolic. It is not only intended to signal to the world China's willingness to behave as a responsible stakeholder. If Xi makes good on his promise - and there is thus far no evidence to make us anticipate the contrary China will reshape the face of UN peacekeeping. If all of the 8,000 troops in some form or another are deployed in addition to those more than 3,000 Chinese men and women already engaged in blue helmet operations, China will be the largest troop contributing nation in the world. This is an entirely new situation. China's peacekeeping personnel is known to be highly qualified, well-trained and equipped, and exemplary

in terms of behavior on the ground - something that unfortunately cannot be said about all blue helmets. China, with its largest individual pledge, made the UN Peacekeeping Summit a success and Xi "the man of the moment," as Richard Gowan of the European Council on Foreign Relations put it. Among experts on UN peacekeeping, China's announcement is welcomed. As Tobias Pietz, Acting Head of Analysis at the Center for International Peace Operations, Berlin underlines: The Chinese commitment to UN peacekeeping serves as an upgrade to peacekeeping in general. It shows that China as a member of the P5 regards the UN as the sole place for international peace operations. The meaning of the contribution thus goes beyond its actual and practical assistance to the UN. It is symbolic in the sense that it gives gravitas to the UN and sends a clear message to the Western countries that have turned their back on UN Peacekeeping over the past decades when it comes to the provision of blue helmets. Joachim Koops, Dean of Vesalius College at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels, adds that the Chinese

Currently, more than 100,000 peacekeepers serve in 16 operations worldwide. Due to a constant lack of qualified personnel, equipment, helicopters, and other military capacities, however, most of these operations, have not lived up to expectations. On the other hand, China's leaders have continuously underlined that they regard UN-mandated operations that operate with the consent of the host nation as the only way to go in reaching sustainable peace. China under Xi remains skeptical about the virtue of international intervention for conflict resolution or protection of civilians, even as China's interest and investments go global and might require more flexible or creative interpretations in the future.

commitment could have a significant effect on the formulation of future mandates: "Thus far the Chinese have been rather reluctant in the process, but as the dominant force on the ground, this might well change. For the UN Peacekeeping sector China's commitment is a good development and it might force others to reconsider their position." Currently, more than 100,000 peacekeepers serve in 16 operations worldwide. For the UN, active Chinese participation is a bonanza. No other member of the P5 is as clearly committed to the world organization as the forum for multilateral diplomacy and conflict resolution. The UN benefits greatly from China's engagement and the Chinese leadership derives legitimacy from its constructive role in matters of peace and development. However, it remains to be seen whether the Chinese leadership is able to bridge the gap between international commitment and regional ambitions. China's policies in the South China Sea have unsettled the region and clearly raise doubts about China's willingness to commit to multilateral solutions and international law if it regards it as not being in its interest. And while the UN Charter stands for non-intervention in the domestic affairs of their member states, de-linking the universality of human rights - a cornerstone of the UN's identity - from questions of peace and security will not resolve the conflicting interests of the Chinese leadership between international responsibility and domestic stability. The mutually beneficial relations between the world organization and its most populous member state will continuously be challenged by these contradictions.

A Flawless NRC Sir, News is rife that a good section of the foreign nationals are leaving no stone unturned to incorporate their names in the National Register for citizen (NRC). They resort to any means that they can lay their hands on, preparing fake documents including H.S.L.C. Admit card, with the help of some unscrupulous government servants with itching palms. NRC authorities, in order to ensure a flawless register, asks the Board of secondary Education (SEBA) to get ready to verify the authenticity of the admit cards submitted to NRC and the SEBA is in a dilemma having been caught between the verification of the admit cards and conducting the H.S.L.C. examination as reported in a section of the Press. As the issue of verification of admit cards is of paramount importance, it will be plausible on the part of the state government to depute more employees to perform the job on a war footing. If the process of verification is diluted, it would be a disservice to the nation that might endanger the safety of the national.

Let us all extend our hands to NRC authorities to prepare a flawless register. The spotting of a Bangladeshi national in the houses of a cabinet minister shows how grave the situation is! Yours etc. Ashok Bordoloi Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10

World Mental Health Day 2015: 5 mental health issues common in India October 10 is World Mental Health Day The significance of World Mental Health Day has increased this year for Indians, as now every year October 10 will be recognised as the National Mental Health Day. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates, currently 20 million Indians are suffering from mental health problems and about 20% of India's population is predicted to develop some kind of mental health issue by the year 2020. Here's a brief account of a few common mental health problems ailing Indians. Depression and anxiety: According to a 2005 study, conducted by the National Commission on Macroeconomics and Health in 2005, about 5% of Indian population suffers from common mental disorders, such as depression and anxiety. And, the underlying cause is stress. Under chronic stress, the brain seeks some or the other way to escape the pressure. But today most people fail to find effective ways of coping up with increasing stress. As a result, the brain sinks into deeper, negative thoughts, resulting in behavioural changes that may affect daily functioning. Since the mind and the body shares a close relationship, stress causes an internal imbalance that could lead to de-

pression and anxiety. Schizophrenia: According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) statistics, about 24 million people all over the world suffer from schizophrenia. Categorised as a severe mental illness, schizophrenia is one of the most common mental health problems Indians are suffering from. According to Dr Samir Praikh, consultant Psychiatrist, Department of Mental Health and Behavioral Science, FMRI, the lifetime chance of developing schizophrenia is estimated to be about 1%. So, one in a hundred individuals may develop schizophrenia in their lifetime. 'There is no single cause for the condition but psychosocial issues and family dynamics play an important role in the onset and recovery of schizophrenics,' he adds. Bi-polar disorder: It a type of mood disorder, where people experience episodes of extreme elation or 'mania' that alternate with episodes of extreme depression. Mood swings are a part of emotional well-being but in those with bipolar disorder the switches cannot be called as normal. Life events like death of a family member, unemployment, job insecurity, relationship difficulties and child birth are among few factors that may trigger the onset of bipolar disorder.

Psychosis: Another severe mental illness, psychosis makes a person sway away from reality. Such people are delusional and hallucinate (seeing or hearing things that do not exist in reality). It is closely related to schizophrenia and, in fact, many schizophrenics may develop psychosis. Suicidal tendency: As per the World health Organisation's (WHO) first global report on suicide prevention, India had the highest number of recorded suicide cases in the year 2012 globally. India has a pool of people who have poor problem solving skills, who're impulsive, who have disturbed interpersonal relationships, which triggers suicidal thoughts. A stressful life leads can cause and retain emotional turmoil that contributes a lot to suicidal thoughts. But suicides can be prevented with early psychological help and support. According to Dr Parikh, several factors like increasing crime rates, corruption and general unrest, at large, are huge contributors to mental instability among Indians, which clearly highlights the need for increased awareness and attention to mental health issues in our country. It's the only way to eliminate stigma and improve mental health care in India.

red Bindi and a hearty smile was her identity. She was my alarm clock. Of the entire task explained to her, being the alarm clock was in top priority. At sharp, 7am, the bell would ring and there was sunshine at my doorstep. As usual, she would shower her affection with a piece of her mind "How late you wake up, start getting up early, what if I am not there from tomorrow" and so on. I would watch her silently and once she indulges herself at work, I would lift her and swing her from behind, till she had her nerves in her mouth. This was an everyday practice for both of us. I give her the full credit for not giving me a chance to realize her transformation from Geeta Bai to my own Geeta Didi. In a month's time, my parents came to stay with me. One day, my father told me, "There is a guest at your

doorstep, go and welcome her". As I open the door, I see Geeta Didi. I smiled at my father and introduced her to my parents. Since then, my father became her Baba (Father). She would greet him with a smile, sit with him in the society's garden and share her day to day happenings, introduce every passerby her Baba and then start her daily routine. One day Baba told her that the coming day was his birthday. He was kidding. Unbelievably, the next day, she made lot of delicious meals and gifted her Baba. In sometime, my parents flew back to our hometown, Guwahati. The saga of Baba-Beti however continued through phone calls. And in a year's time, I too decided to relocate to my hometown, keeping into consideration, my father's ill health. The society's security guards had to hold

Mumbai and Bai - The city that never sleeps will become sleepless otherwise too if the Genre of "Bai's" stop to exist. Dressed in sarees with vivid colors and decked in beautiful jewellery, the Bai's oblige us to think that they not only love their work, but are passionate of the daily household chores. I had the opportunity to be in the beautiful city during the start of my career. Mumbai embraced me for almost 8 years. From a memorable life in the hostel, my life stirred to an experience of an apartment, a rented one though. The thought behind it was to have the company of my parents for some time. Like any other Mumbai -an, I too came across a Bai. She was Geeta Bai. Neatly draped dark colored sarees, beckoning jewelry, a big

Addiction treatment Love & Support are the best medicines Osunam Pertin Drug addiction is a form of disease! Many of us covertly know this but remain unknown for others. It's like in our home, we may know someone who is often using alcohol or some form of drugs and we start avoiding them rather than acknowledging that they have a disease which they need treatment for. We should all remember that before he/she is an addict, they are your closed ones. Certainly no one is born with a craving for alcohol/ drugs. When a family member is diagnose with a physical illness, all the close ones fight together for recovery of the sick person, likewise sine addiction is also a form of disease, we all should remember to stick together and help the addict to recover. An addict is someone who is addicted to any form of drugs, and as closed ones it is our duty to help him become a recovering addict. Every individual should provide more positive help to a recovering addict. These recovering addicts are the ones who have realized how important it is to live a drug free life and making an attempt towards the journey of sobriety. Perhaps the stigma of addiction is what the idea that we should be able to kick all the bad habits in our own. Otherwise we are weak or inferior human beings. But these expectations are unrealistic. For an addict to stay sober for long run is impossible to fight it alone. Some exceptional cases are witnessed but chances of relapse are very high. So if an addict really wants to recover we have to provide him a fair opportunity to recovery. I am working as an Psychologist in Opiate Substitution Therapy (OST) in General Hospital, Pasighat since past few months. Since then I have been dealing with persons with

drug addiction problems. But often I have wondered what and how does science or medicine help such people. So, what is it that apart from any medicine and counseling that convinces the recovering addict to make change and move on with Drug free life? I am saying this because at the end of the day, drugs are much powerful than any medicine or counseling. Through all that I have experienced at work till date, I believe the following to be the major reasons why a drug addicts stick to change and live a drug free life. Human Environment: providing better and humane treatment is the foremost contribution factor. Beginning with humanity treat in their home and any Hospital or De-addiction centre, demands an environment where the person feels that he/she is in a safe, secure and accepted place not to be treated like an unwanted. No proper de-addiction centre in Pasighat as such Opiate Substitution Theraphy in General Hospital Pasighat is making its effort to provide such an environment. Some of my clients reported they were involved in the treatment plan without any interest at

Geeta Didi her hands tight and stop her as I made way to the taxi. I kept my promise of staying connected to her through phone calls. 2 years later, one day, I found that her cell number doesn't exist anymore. Maybe she didn't know the way to intimate me. We got disconnected but she was always in my thoughts and more in my prayers. I had promised myself, the next visit to Mumbai, I will meet Geeta Didi, no matter what! 1st February, 2012 my father (her Baba) passed away. I tried to reach her to share my grief, but she remained untraced. I wondered at times, how heartbroken she would be to know that her Baba is no longer physically with us. This year, in September, I went to Mumbai for some personal work. I was happy at the thought of meeting her and as days in Mumbai passed by, my eagerness to meet her grew more and more. Emotions ran in me at the thought of sharing my pain with her. However, a very strong gut feeling was telling me again and again that there was something more intense in the meeting. A watchman directed me to the apartment where she was working. As the lift ran through each floor, I became restless and tears rolled down my eyes heavily. I rang the doorbell and in fraction of seconds, Geeta Didi was in front of me. I hugged her tight and simply howled, breaking

the news "Didi, your Baba is no more". She replied "My elder son was knocked by a speeding car while on his way to Shirdi and succumbed to his injuries immediately". I stood numb. I felt the world had come to a stop. If one could count on the teardrops we both shed. I spent the whole day trying to console her in every possible way, but she was simply inconsolable. All I assured that her son is with her Baba, and he is being taken care of. We parted with promises to be in touch forever. The bright smile was missing this time. I would often tell her "I will give life to this beautiful companionship in the image of you, Geeta Didi and someday it will be in a column". In the last few years of disconnection, every time I thought to initiate a column, I would wonder "Where will my story conclude"? Today, as my pen march forward with each word, I realized the reason for my urge, my restlessness and my meeting with Geeta Didi. "To weep is to make less the depth of grief." - William Shakespeare! We shared each other's grief, We wept to our hearts content …and maybe, for some moments, We lessened each other's grief! Everything in life has a purpose! (The writer can be contacted at binita_b2002@yahoo.co.in)

the initial phrase, they were kind of forced to do so. But gradually they felt that the theraphy centre is somehow treating them well and they feel safe and relax being in the room surrounded by people who understands them and also motivates each other to change and live a drug free life. A client of mine said that he wants to become a better person because of his supportive family. The expectations from his parents, sisters and family make him stronger day by day to live a life without drugs. Another client reported "my parents are least interested about struggle I am going through to fight drugs, they passes negative comments on how I am useless and good for nothing son. All the negative environment in home makes me get away from home and be around with friends. But since all my friends are addicts, I am somehow brought back to drugs." Respect for the Individual's perception: A very common notion that all the addicts are bad and thus need to be cautious and stay away from them. But the fact cannot be ignored that no one is born an addict. A person is never wrong, it is his habits

which go wrong side. It is important that during drug treatment, while a drug addict is fighting against drug cravings we should understand as a family member, friend, a coworker, a therapist etc. that we know don't challenge rudely the patients perception towards why he choose to consume substances. He/ she is fighting a battle out there which I may or may not know. So it's better to emphatically listen first and then respond. Patience: I believe self realization works well for addict to choose the path of recovery. In the first stage of recovery, I haven't seen many patients reaching a good motivational level for long term abstinence, but I have seen patience working. Some of my patients with support from various sources realized to long term abstinence from drug after many attempts of addiction treatment. One thing in common among these recovering addicts are self realization which came only after many failure attempts to quit drugs and bad experiences, but patience have worked. Opiate Substitution Therapy has never given up on them; they were always accepted back with open arms. Trust me; patience

can pay both the parties in the long run which will be appreciable. Social Support: We all are human beings and interactions have influence on how we view ourselves and world around. If positive social support is not provided for a recovering addict the chances of success decreases and he/she will have difficulty making life change which is required for long run abstinence from drug. The road to recovery from drug is the path to better life but also a challenging and stressful path for most. A patient once told me that "I feel that the society outcast us and even misbehave or ill treat us, due to which we are demoralized, angered and have a very low self esteem, and that's the very reason why we relapsed back again." Our OST Centre is a place where the patients feel safe and secure and feel free. Few social groups coming uninformed , naked searching every patients, questioning them and looking down on them can very much be affected in the process of rehabilitating there recovering addicts and leading to self-esteem, angered and sad which may be a curse to the relapsing. I feel that the OST Centre should be respected and be treated like a home for the addicts by the society. The above mentioned are some of my experiences and observations as a part of my work. I would say that an addict is a person like me and you who is struggling and battling up with a thing who is much stronger than him. Lets support him in his struggle and give him a better future and to be specific if he/she is recovering addict. (The writer is Psychologist at OST General Hospital, Pasighat)

BUSINESS

Food delivery startups feel the heat Bengaluru, Oct 9: Recently, when customers tried to access food delivery startup Dazo's app, they were greeted by a message from the company's co-founder and CEO, Shashaank Shekhar Singhal: "We are discontinuing Dazo's curated food ordering platform and thus won't be taking new orders. As a team, we've decided to move over this business and we'll be working on a new product." This came as a surprise to many, particularly because the company was backed by bigwigs like Google India chief Ranjan Anandan, TaxiForSure co-founder Aprameya Radhakrishna, and former Freecharge chief executive Alok Goel. But Dazo is not the only food delivery startup that has taken a hit in recent times. The space, which has seen a host of players enter in the past few years, is now witnessing plenty of casualties. SpoonJoy, Bengaluru-based online food service venture that raised $1 million in May, shut down its Delhi operations last week and has started scaling back their operations in Bengaluru. Delhi-based Langhar, an

online platform selling home-cooked food, shut operations in February, just two years after it started. C h e n n a i - b a s e d OrderSnack closed even before raising their first round of funding. Investors say the food-tech space is a tricky business. K Ganesh, a promoter at Freshmenu, which delivers fresh food, said that the online food sector is mirroring the offline trend. "While the barriers are

dustrial and warehousing spaces is rapidly expanding and is estimated to touch about 125 million square feet in the next five years, according to a report from property consultancy firm CBRE. "We look forward to leveraging Warburg Pincus' successful global experience in the industrial real estate class. This is an exciting new foray for the Embassy Group that allows us to move into a space that we expect to see grow tremendously, spurred by government policies, concepts like Make in India and the booming e-commerce in-

low, it is a tough business as people's opinions are whimsical. In food, people get bored easily even if it is good," he said. DSG Consumer Partners, which has invested in ventures like Oyo Rooms, ZipDial and EazyDiner, says it does not invest in startups whose core model is delivery of food. "Very few teams we saw had the full set of skills we think it takes to succeed. Some had a good balance of tech and

food but did not understand the details of food related licensing, safety, and traceability issues," said Deepak Shahdadpuri, MD and founder of DSG. Aprameya, who invested in Dazo, thinks startups in the food tech space need more time to prove themselves, and the lack of funding does not help matters. "The startups that got a lot of funding emerged as leaders, while the others were still figuring out what

their unique value proposition was. Some of these startups will pivot to some other models," he said. Startup analytics firm Tracxn finds that 31 foodtech startups have so far raised $161.5 million in investments this year, as compared to $66.8 million last year. However, the aggregate funding in both years was hugely influenced by restaurant listing and food delivery venture Zomato, which raised $60

SRL plans Rs 1,250-crore share sale Mumbai, Oct 9: India's largest pathology chain SRL Diagnostics, majority owned by Fortis Healthcare, has started a large stake sale process attracting interest from sovereign wealth funds and bulge-bracket private equity firms. SRL has roped in investment bank Moelis & Co to advise on at least $200-million (around Rs 1,250-crore) share sale, primarily to help some existing investors monetize its minority holdings, sources familiar with the matter said. A clutch of investors, International Finance Corporation (IFC), NYLM Jacob Ballas and Avigo Capital, hold around 34% stake in the diagnostics company, valuing it at about $700 million (over Rs 4,400 crore). While the stake sale mandate is only for the shares held by minority investors, sources said the company could explore all strategic options. The move to facilitate a deal for minority investors suggests that SRL has scrapped its IPO

plans in the near future. "We would like to categorically state that the mandate is for the sole purpose of providing an exit to the investors in SRL," a Fortis spokesperson said in response to an emailed query. Four years ago, billionaire brothers

Embassy Group, Warburg join hands to build warehouses Bengaluru, Oct 9: Real estate developer Embassy Group said it has formed a $250-million (Rs 1,625 crore) JV with private equity firm Warburg Pincus to build warehouses across the country, treading a largely unchartered path for organized players. The JV, named Embassy Industrial Parks, includes equity investment of $175 million from the New York-based company and $75 million from Bengaluru-based Embassy. About 90% of the initial investment would be used for land purchases. The market for modern in-

Anshul Singhal, chief executive of the joint venture, said the company would be looking to procure land parcels between 50 acres and 200 acres in Sanand near Ahmedabad, Chakan near Pune and Hoskote in Bengaluru. The company would also be looking for about 100 acres of land each in Mumbai and Delhi. "We will focus on industries such as FMCG, retail, automobile ancillaries, third party logistics and of course e-commerce, which is expected to grow about 10 times to $60 billion by 2020," Singhal said. The implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) is also expected to boost the demand for organized warehouses, he added. The first warehouse is expected to become operational by early 2017, considering that it takes about six months to acquire land, six months to get approvals and another five to set it up. (Agencies)

shares in the company. SRL's parent company Fortis bought back a minority investor Sabre Capital's 3.1% stake for Rs 105 crore last month, valuing the company at $520 million, which some investment banking sources suggested was at a discount. SRL has about 260 labs and 6,300 collection points across the country. The diagnostics segment, growing at 1617%, is the fastest growing segment in the healthcare industry but remains heavily fragmented. The diagnostics industry has seen a rise in M&A activity recently with southern chain Medall Healthcare holding talks with Manipal Hospitals for a potential sale even as private equity investor Carlyle Group bought 37% stake in Mumbai-based Metropolis Labs for roughly Rs 900 crore. Others like Gurgaon-based Dr Lal PathLabs are planning for an initial public offer. SRL clocked revenues of Rs 722 crore for financial year 2015. (Agencies)

Besides the Ambanis, the other Indian families in the top ten richest Asian business dynasties include the Premji family, ranked 7th with a net worth of US $ 17 billion, and the Mistry family at the 10th place with a net worth of US $14.9 billion. Other Indian families in the coveted list include Godrej family at 15th place with a fortune of US $ 11.4 billion, ArcelorMittal group's Mittals (19th, US $10.1 billion), Birlas (22nd, US $7.8 billion), Bajajs (29th, USD 5.6 billion), Dabur India's Burmans (30th, US $5.5 billion), Cadila Healthcare's Patels (33rd, US $ 4.8 billion), Eicher Group's Lals at (40th, US $4 billion). place with a fortune of US $2.9 billion. The overall list was topped by Lees of Samsung Group, whose 2014 revenues were equivalent to 22% of South Korea's GDP. "While few dominate to such an extent, many business dynasties hold wide regional sway with their sprawling, crossborder empires," Forbes said. Interestingly, nearly half of the richest families in Asia are of Chinese descent, yet none of the inaugural 50 is based in the mainland. In the first-ever ranking of Asia's richest families, 50 clans hailed from ten Asian countries and were required to have a minimum of 3 generations actively involved in building their respective fortunes. The barrier to entry was US $ 2.9 billion and

valuations are based on stock prices and exchange rates as on September 25. Moreover, as many as 6 Indian families came close with a net worth of at least US $2 billion but could not make it to the coveted list. Forbes said the Goenka family from India with a net worth of US $2.75 billion is one such example. The family runs two separate conglomerates. Other clans not rich enough to make the list include Parle Products' Chauhans with a net worth of US $2.7 billion, DLF's Singh family (USD 2.65 billion), Marico's Mariwalas (US $2.55 billion), Berger Paints' Singh family (US $2.5 billion), Bharat Forge's Kalyanis (US $2.1 billion), Forbes said. million in 2014 and $110 million in 2015. There are some who are still confident of making it big. Yumist, another online kitchen startup, took a dig at SpoonJoy on Twitter after reports about the latter's troubles: "Let us be the 'spoon' to feed you with some real 'joy'." Founder Alok Jain told TOI that investors who were previously running after traction are now concentrating on fundamentals. He said Yumist, which is currently operational in NCR and Bengaluru, is not burning cash fast and so has no problem in attracting investments. Gurgaonbased Bueno, an online food delivery startup offering global cuisines, says it will survive the race because it has a differentiated positioning in the market. Founder Rohan Arora said most food delivery startups do not factor in delivery charges into their business model. "If you're working on a Rs 100 price point for a meal, you have to also factor in Rs 50-60 delivery charges. But many startups don't do it in order to acquire customers," he said. (Agencies)

WOMEN’S Get healthy hair with these healthy foods Nutritionist and weight optimisation specialist Kavita Devgan will help you with tips to achieve all your health and fitness goals. To look gorgeous on the outside, you have to nourish your body from the inside, which means eating lots of the good stuff. In fact the most effective way to achieve healthy hair is not through a laundry list of haircare products but by changing what you put on your plate. Every cell in the human body needs dozens and dozens of nutrients, so it makes good beauty sense to "load up" foods loaded with antioxidants - the cellular warriors that'll help you score healthy looking hair. Here are a few items you should start eating, starting now! Go nuts for thick, shiny hair: Brazil nuts are one of nature's best sources of selenium, an important mineral for the health of your scalp. Walnuts contain alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid that help condition your hair - from inside. Nuts (cashews, pecans, and almonds) are also a terrific source of zinc.

Zinc deficiency can lead to hair shedding, so make sure to eat a mix of nuts every day. Zinc love: Oysters are better known for their reputation as an aphrodisiac, but they are great for our hair too. The key to their love and hair-boosting abilities is zinc - a powerful antioxidant. You can get your zinc via wheat germ and pumpkin seeds too. So sprinkle them liberally on your cereal. Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A, which promotes a healthy scalp.

Since a healthy scalp is essential for a shiny, wellconditioned head of hair, you'd be wise to snack on baby carrots or simply shred them and add to soups and salads. Eggs to the rescue: When it comes to healthy hair, it doesn't matter whether you like your eggs scrambled, fried, or boiled. Eggs are one of the best protein sources you can find. They also contain biotin and vitamin B-12, which are important 'hair' nutrients. Sink your teeth into hearty whole grains, including

whole-wheat bread and fortified whole-grain breakfast cereals, for a hair-healthy dose of zinc, iron, and B vitamins. Spinach and broccoli are excellent sources of vitamins A and C, which our body needs to produce sebum. The oily substance, secreted by our hair follicles, is the body's natural hair conditioner. Low-fat dairy products like skim milk and yogurt are great sources of calcium, another important mineral for hair growth. (Agencies)

Removing your makeup thoroughly is a basic and essential beauty move we will never tire of nagging you about. But if you rub your skin raw, or still have telltale signs of your eyeliner the next morning, then you are doing it all wrong. We help you master taking off your makeup to avoid clogged pores, wrinkles and dull skin. Follow these techniques for healthier skin. Removing Your Base: Don't Dry Out Your Skin If your makeup is waterbased, your usual cleanser should be enough to take off your foundation and blush. All you girls with oily skin should use a foaming cleanser and if you're acneprone, make sure to use one with Salicylic Acid. Step 1: Massage your cleanser on your face in circular motions and let it sit for 20 seconds. Step 2: Wipe off with wet cotton pads or a soft cotton washcloth. Don't forget about the areas around your ears, below your chin and along your hairline. Step 3: Moisturize! Oil-based, waterproof and long-lasting foundation should be removed with a makeup remover first before cleansing. Make sure your remover is suitable for your skin type and is alco-

hol and fragrance-free. Use a make -up remover that takes it all off easily without any rubbing and tugging, is gentle on the skin and leaves it feeling fresh. Next apply your cleanser and massage, leave it on for a minute to help dissolve your makeup before wiping it off. Rinse with cold water and pat dry. Don't forget to moisturize your skin after in gentle circular motions along the cheeks, forehead and neck for soft, young skin. Stop Rubbing: Go Easy On The Eyes Rubbing out stubborn mascara can make your eyelashes fall out and tugging your delicate skin to remove your eyeliner will cause fine lines, which is pretty horrific. Instead, take a cotton pad and add a few drops of your favourite moisturizer, baby oil or olive oil on it. Step 1: Place it gently over your eye, making sure it covers your lashes and eyelid and keep it pressed for a few minutes to break up all of your makeup. Step 2: Then, gently massage the same cotton pad over your lashes and top lid to get it all off. Step 3: Use a q-tip to remove kajal from the inner corners of your eye and along your lower lashes to

really get rid of all your mascara. Step 4: Once all your eye makeup is completely off, wash your face as usual. You don't need to bother with pricey eye makeup removers; this is a super effective, affordable and gentle way of getting rid of all your eye makeup. You can also try milk or Vaseline with cotton for the same technique. On To The Lips: Stop Scrubbing Away At Dark Lipsticks Those classic reds and sexy deep berries may make us feel like a million bucks but we got to admit that they're quite a pain when it comes to taking them off. Most formulas leave behind a faded stain which forces us into rubbing our lips raw and causing some serious chapping. We give you the perfect fix. All you need is your trusty pot of Vaseline. Step 1: Apply some on your pucker and leave it on for a few minutes (you can deal with your eye makeup while you wait). Step 2: Then take a warm washcloth or tissue and gently wipe it off, your lipstick should come off with it. Step 3: Use a lip balm afterward to keep your pout soft and moisturized. It's as simple as that!

You've spent loads of money on your favourite perfume only to realise that it won't last more a few hours? We know it's supposed to be temporary but it can be too flighty for our liking. But, fret not! We share some awesome tips that will keep you smelling good for longer. Apply after shower If you want to make sure your perfume last long, spritz some right after a hot shower. The steam opens your pores and spraying perfume on open pores with help it seep in better and keep it there longer. Get down Spraying on lower points of the body will ensure your fragrance lasts longer. Like heat, scent rises too. Spritz some on your ankles, calf and behind the knees next time. Don't rub! This is something a lot of people do, but should stop right away! Rubbing wrists together causes friction and erases the top notes making your fragrance fade away faster. Mane spray In case you didn't know, hair hold perfume really well. Before you roll your eyes, we know perfume contains alcohol that can dry up your hair, but that's only if you plan on emptying your entire bottle on the head. A few spritzes won't do any harm. Spray some on your brush rather than directly. Don't shake it Don't shake your perfume like other beauty products before using it. This will let air in and make it fade faster. Heat it up Not literally! Dry and cold skin can't hold perfume for long. Consider spritzing some on your pulse points to make it last longer. You could also dab some oil or petroleum jelly on the points you spray perfume on.

TWMFT: An Attempt To Spot Local Talents, Popularize Sports -Denhang Bosai It will not be an exaggeration to say that all the roads in the sleepy little Khonsa Township have been leading to the Nehru Stadium from the 19th September to 10th October thanks to the p r e s t i g i o u s ThansenWangchadong Memorial Football Tournament organized by the Tirap district administration and sponsored by WanglinLowangdong and his family in loving memory of late ThansenWangchadong, Rani of Borduria. The beautiful game of football has generated so much enthusiasm and interest, especially among the youth that be it offices, markets, schools, colleges, hospitals, bus-stops and wherever people I meet, the main topic of discussion has been football and football only. In every match the Nehru Stadium has been jampacked with enthusiastic football aficionados. Leave alone the youth, even the girls and women have been leaving behind their household chores to witness the matches with as much interest as their male counterparts. We have heard of Ping-Pong Diplomacy or Cricket Diplomacy between nations. Haven't we? This speaks volumes about how important games and sports are in our lives. These days, everyone I

meet only asks me about the on-going football tournament before exchanging our pleasantries. The young girls in office working on their computers and laptops seriously without even looking at me would ask the same expected question to me, "Sir, who won the football match yesterday?" So also my staffs in office and people working in my residence have only one thing to know; the result of the last football match. Even Sitaram, the oldest vegetable vendor in the Khonsa market while weighing the vegetables I buy from him would ask, "Sir, aajka match kaunjeetahei?" So, everybody has been directly or indirectly involved in the ThansenWangchadong Memorial Football Tournament being conducted at Khonsa. This is what games and sports can do. I have no qualms about admitting that the sponsors, Lowangdong and his family and the district administration have been successful to a great extent to unite the people through football and generate great interest towards the game of football, especially among the youth of the district. Altogether 29 teams from all over Tirap district representing different clubs and villages are actively partaking in the highest prize money football tournament. Barring a few mi-

nor hiccups, the whole tournament has been peaceful and a very good camaraderie is seen among the players of different teams. In a nutshell, it can be said that the players are maintaining the high ideals of the spirit of sportsmanship which should be appreciated by all. After the knock-out rounds, quarter

finals and the closely fought semi-finals, Khunnu Youth FC will clash against Khonsa Bazaar FC in the grand finale at Nehru Stadium, Khonsaon the 10th of October which will be graced by the youngNampong MLA LaisamSimai. It may be recalled that the tournament was inaugurated by

none other than the Arunachal East Lok Sabha MP NinongEring on the 19th of September at a glittering opening ceremony. The winners will be richer by Rs 50,000/ along with the glittering trophy and the runners-up will receive Rs 25,000. The most prized and the important award for the 'most disciplined'

team will get Rs 20,000. There are also individual awards of Rs 5000 each for the best player, best goalkeeper and highest scorer. The match officials from the 1st Assam Rifles have been very efficiently managing the matches. The district administration, district Police, 1st Assam Rifles, 36 CRPF, all the

government departments and the committee members have been working hard to make the tournament a grand success. Thanks to the ThansenWangchadong Memorial Football Tournament, even the condition of Nehru Stadium has markedly improved. The sponsor of the tournam e n t WanglinLowangdong has this to say, "I am eternally grateful and indebted to the district administration and the committee members for organizing the ThansenWangchadong Memorial Football Tournament so efficiently. The main aim and objective of organizing this football tournament is to spot local talents and also popularize football, especially among the youth of Tirap district. I may add here that Tirap district is lagging behind in the fields of games and sports which we cannot afford in this age of cutthroat competition. The state government has a sports policy in place wherein 5% reservation is kept for accomplished sportspersons in all categories of government jobs. In Police department the reservation for the sportspersons is 10%. So, we are making an honest and humble effort to enthuse and instill a sense of love and keen interest for games and sports among

our youths to enable them take maximum advantage out of the seat reservation against sports quotas. We will make a greater effort in the near future to conduct not only football but also other games and sports to engage our restive youths gainfully and meaningfully by channelizing their youthful energy towards constructive purposes. I am sanguine that such sporting activities in the district would go a long way to wean away the misguided youths from going astray." I must add here that the old Hindi adage 'padogelikhogebanogenawaab. Khelogekudogebanogekharaab is no longer in vogue as today, games and sports are given as much importance as academics the entire world over. Many great sportspersons have become sporting Ambassadors of their respective countries. The sportspersons of different games and sports are icons and idols of the youths. In conclusion, I am tempted to say that the organizers of the ThansenWangchadong Memorial Football Tournament have done their bit to popularize football in the district and also to enthuse the youths of the insurgency-hit Tirap district to take sports seriously to make a career out of it. The first quarter started with a series of attacks coming in from the Indian side who dominated the entire session. Without wasting much time, Akashdeep Singh broke into the opponents defence from the left flank but unfortunately his attack was stopped by New Zealand's Nick Haig.
