Guwahati High Court has dismissed the writ petition filed by Gabriel D Wangsu and Wanglam Sawin challenging their termination as MLAs in Sixth Arunachal Legislative Assembly. Justice T Vaiphei and Justice M R Pathak, dismissed the petition saying there was no merit in it. After examining the case from all angles, we are satisfied that speaker has not violated any mandatory provision of law in not rejecting the resignation let-
ters of petitioners and is rather correct in accepting the resignation letters of the petitioners, the judges noted while delivering the verdict. With this Kanubari and Khonsa East assembly seat have fallen vacant. However, it is expected that duo will challenge the judgment in higher appellate bodies. Earlier, Speaker Nabam Rebia had accepted the resignation letters of both the MLAs but was challenged by them alleging Chief Minister Nabam Tuki of forcefully getting signed their resignation letters against their will.
