Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today chose ‘petty politics’ over humanism by surprisingly expressing his total helplessness in providing flood relief to the lakhs of flood victims of the state. During his interaction with the media at the Mohanbari airport, here, after conducting a aerial survey of the four flood affected districts of upper Assam, namely, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Dhemaji and Lakhimpur, the chief minister preferred to lob the ball at the centre’s court by saying that he does not have any fund for the flood victims. “I can say 20 crores or 30 crores, but it is the Centre which will have to re-
which is required for the flood victims of the state. Gogoi also stated that it is totally false that the state government had not made any requisition or request for release of funds. “Whatever, the centre has released till date is the state share; the centre has not released its own share. It (the centre) had not even released the funds which was required for the flood victims last year”, Gogoi said. Gogoi also expressed his helplessness to persuade the corporate and petroleum sector operating from the state to come forward to provide relief for the flood victims. “They are also controlled by Modi and his government, what can I do?”
