Unidentified Body Recovered Golaghat, June 26: Today sensation prevailed at a border area of Sarupathar Borpathar in Golaghat over recovery of a dead body of an youth. According to the report today a body was recovered near the railway track in the area. It is suspected that the youth had fallen from moving train. The deceased is yet to be identified. A team from the capital police, headed by Superintendent of Police Kime Aya, under close supervision of Itanagar SDPO Techi Hanyir and OC N Sora, recently arrested four people in connection to a robbery case at Jollang village. According to an FIR filed at Itanagar Police Station by one Bengia Yallu on June 18, local bead necklaces worth Rs 2,09,94,700, other jewellery and two mobile phones were stolen from her house in Jollang village on the intervening night of June 5 and 6 last. On receiving the complaint, a case was registered at

The four-day long Ambubachi Mela at Kamakhaya Devi temple at Guwahati, Assam concluded today, and with this, the door of the Shakti shrine at Nilachal hillock was re-opened for devotees. The Ambubachi Mela also known as Ambubachi Festival that started on 23 June 2016 was visited by around 7 lakh 50 thousand pilgrims from various parts of the world. This yearly mela is celebrated during the monsoon season that happens to fall during the Assamese month Ahaar, around the middle of June, when the Brahmaputra River is in spate. It is related to the Tantric cult and is also known as Kamkhya Devi Puja.

The doors of the temple remains closed for three days during the festival as it is believed that Goddess Kamakhya goes through her menstrual cycle. Lakhs of devotees were queuing up since last night waiting for their turns to get darshan of Goddess Kamakhya, and nearly 2 thousand volunteers have been deployed by the administration for crowd management. According to officials of the Kamrup Metro district administration, close to 20 lakhs devotees had gathered this year during Ambubachi Mela.

In a joint operation conducted by the Assam police, army and CRPF, three fake ULFA cadres were arrested from Bordumsa area in upper Assam's Tinsukia district. The arrested persons are Diful Medhi alias Juganta, S/O Sri Sorbeswar Medhi, resident of Bokapathar village, under Bordumsa police station, Raju Moran, R/O Tarani village, PS: Pengeree and Dhoinya Saikia

alias Konthi R/O No. 3 Borhollong village, PS: Bordumsa. One chinese made pistol and 5 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from their possession. Asserting that the Centre is concerned about development in the northeastern states, Arunachal Pradesh Power Minister Tenzing Norbu Thongdok said that Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal has given assurance to develop hydropower, solar and thermal projects in his state. “We plan to go for electrification of these villages which cannot be covered under transmission lines, which are very far off through grid mode, that is providing solar photovoltaic electrification

He said that he will support the metering system. use of high-velocity winds to Goyal. He said the central government has also agreed to sanction smart meters for all households and to supply LED bulbs at a subsidized rate. On the issue of imposing ban on development of the small hydro power projects by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Thongdok said Goyal has promised to take up the issue. Talking about electricity development plans in Arunachal Pradesh, Thongdok said his government has taken up scheme under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana Scheme (DDUGJY).

This came to light yesterday night when Makum police arrested the duo husband and wife from a small hut beside Baba Dhaba along national highway 37 at Makum. Police also recovered 2 fake sims from them.

The sim were registered in the name of one Kunti Chetri and was used in the ploy. According to sources, the wife introduced her husband as 'sir' to Sushila Orang on the pretext that he has very good relation with a top Coal India officer and will help her get job in Coal India. In the name of getting her job they took rupees 3.5 lakhs in smaller installments of rupees 20 to 30 thousand in a span of last 2 years. The case was cracked by Makum police led by police station in-charge Bhaskar Saikia. The arrest has been made in connection with Makum ps case no 128/16 under section 420 IPC.
