Storm causes huge damage to Boleng Boleng, Oct 7: Boleng ADC T Mize has informed that a powerful storm occurred at Boleng on the evening of October 3 last at about 6 pm, in which several public and private properties were damaged, including agricultural and horticultural gardens. School buildings of Government UPS Rengo (Boleng), Gandhi village (Boleng) and KGBV Boleng are also reported to be severely damaged. Suspension bridge over the mighty Siang River, which is the only lifeline of Mopit villagers was also damaged. Restoration work is underway and loss assessment is being conducted (DIPRO)

AAPSU, appealed all to bring up any such cases with any of the above mentioned AAPSU authorities or the law enforcing agencies. Further, informing that the new Conference Committee members have been given only about 46 days time to oversee the matters of AAPSU conference-cum-election, Tayam also appealed on all the probable candidates of the upcoming AAPSU election to strictly abide by its norms and also maintain proper law and order in the run-up to the election.

Arunachal boy Kojum Taba defeated the Rio-bound Olympian S Satish Kumar in the Clean & Jerk at the 67th Senior National Weightlifting Championship held at Jaipur, Rajasthan. Serving as Junior Commission Officer in the Indian Army, this 19-year old lifter was adopted, trained and groomed by the Pune based Army Sports Institute. Taba will be leaving from IGI Airport New Delhi for Penang, Malaysia on October
23 next and and a week after his arrival back to India, he will travel to Tokyo, Japan on November 7. In 2012, Taba won the Commonwealth Youth Championships-Apia, Samoa; in 2014, he came in at third place in 2014 at the Asian Junior Championship, Bangsaen, Thailand and in 2015, he won the Commonwealth Junior Championships held at Pune, India.
Bail application for both Monica Boro Grade-II junior engineer and Mrinal Kakoty Grade -I junior engineer of Oil India Limited were rejected by Jorhat District Session Court here today. Both the officials are based at Oil India Limited pumping station at Charigaon, Jorhat who were hold guilty by the court for abetting the suicide of Jayanta Neog, a deputy manager of Vodafone Private Limited who have taken the drastic step when he found his wife Monica Boro involved in extra marital affair with her junior collegue Mrinal Kakoty. Monica Boro was sent to Jorhat Central jail on Wednesday while Mrinal
Kakoty was reported to be absconding since September 17 last from Oil campus, Charigaon when the victim’s brother, Prasanta Neog filed an FIR at Bhogdoi outpost against him and Monica Boro. Today when Monica Boro’s brother pleaded for the bail for both Monica and Mrinal, the Jorhat District Session Court straight away rejected both their bail petition. They will now reportedly move the Guwahati High Court. Meanwhile, a two member team of Oil India Limited from Guwahati headquarter office have reached Jorhat to investigate the death of Jayanta Neog and interrogated several eye witnesses. The Police are yet to trace the whereabouts of Mrinal Kakoty.
FPSWA E/Siang threatens to discontinue PDS supply if margin money are not released

The Fair Price Shop Welfare Association (FPSWA), East Siang District along with representative from FPSWA, Siang District held an emergency meeting of all fair price shop runners on Wednesday last at Solung Ground to discuss upon delay in releasing of margin money of fair price shops which are still pending from last six months.

Informing about their meeting, Apaying Perme, President, FPSWA, East Siang said that, during last April a general meeting for implementation of National Food Security Act 2013 was held at DC office where all fair price shop runners and officials of DC Office attended. “We were told to continue the supply of PDS for three
months without margin money as discussion was going on then within government to enhance the margin money of fair price shop from Rs. 120/to Rs. 143/- per quintal. To this regard, we had also submitted a representation to DC for early release of the pending margin money after passing of three months, but no measures are seen taken from the government yet”, added Perme who was seemingly worried. Owing to non fulfillment of their due margin money, the FPSWA East Siang and Siang District has threatened to discontinue the supply of PDS by this month, October while joining hands with the Arunachal Pradesh Fair Price Shop Dealers Welfare Association. Hence, they have appealed the state government to release the pending bill with enhanced margin money immediately.
