Khonsa, Sept 29 : After giving the Swachhta pledge to all staffs of the division, PHE & WS Executive Engineer Tage Nipa flagged off the Swachh Bharat Week, which is being observed from September 25 to October 2 next at Khonsa. The awareness week aims to highlight hygienic practices of water, sanitation and solid liquid waste management. The campaign has set a target to cover all Gram Panchayats of Namsang CD Blocks of Tirap district. Participating in the rally, Consultant, M & E Doi Tarak, said that the objective of the awareness week is to encourage building and using of toilets; safe disposal of child excreta; hand washing with soap before food, after defecation and after handling child excreta; safe storage and handling of drinking water; water conservation and keeping the village clean. On September 11 last, a Deputy Manager of Vodafone in Jorhat, Jayanta Neog (34) was brought to the Jorhat Medical College hospital where doctor have declared him as brought dead. His wife, Monika Boro (34) working with Oil India Limited as Engineer claimed that he has suicide and kill himself in their garage while she was taking care of his son in their official residence at Oil India Charigaon Campus in Jorhat. However, the Victim’s father has accused his wife, Monika Boro of killing her son and alleged that she had an extramarital affair with one of her junior colleagues in Oil India Limited.

Subsequently, on 20th of this month, the Victim father, Sonaram Neog and his brother Prasanta Neog have lodged an FIR at the Bhogdoi Police Outpost against his wife who hails from Beltola Bhetapara in Guwahati. While informing this correspondent of the Eastern Today, the Victim’s brother Prasanta Neog informed that on the day of the incident his sister in Law, Monika have rang him and informed that his brother have met with an accident. He said, when he rushed to the hospital, the death body was being kept in the morgue and as he haven’t seen her at the hospital he rushed to their residence only to find her without an iota of remorse and happily relaxing

at her home. While accusing her of killing her brother, Prasanta Neog alleged that she has taken transfer from Moran to Jorhat as she was involved in an extra-marital affair. He said that his brother was given the responsibility by his employer, Vodafone to look after the areas of Upper Assam, parts of Arunachal and Nagaland and therefore has to remain out of home for most of the time. He alleged that Monika while taking advantage of her husband’s work timing have developed a serious extra-marital affair. He said that over the time her relationship with the husband deteriorated and she started sending him hate

messages and threatened him to break up and live separately. However, when contacted Monika Boro by this correspondent she have dismissed all the allegations as baseless and stick to her earlier statement that her husband was killed by himself hanging from the ceiling of the garage. The Jorhat district AJYCP unit on Monday last submitted a memorandum to Superintend of Police, Jorhat and demanded a thorough investigation in the sudden death of Jayanta Neog. Pasighat unhappy over introduction of DBT on PDS Requesting the state government not to impose Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on Public Distribution System (PDS) food grains under National Food Security Act (NFSA) in urban areas, Pasighat, the people of Pasighat has shown unhappiness over the government’s decision where

the money for the food grains will be directly transferred to the accounts of beneficiaries. In a press statement over the DBT, Kaling Darang, Dy. Chief Councilor, Pasighat Municipal Council has urged the state government to reconsider the decision and implement the same earlier

distribution system through Fair Price Shops (FPS) for the well being of the urban dwellers. He also said that, FPS runners are going through hard time after the implementation of NFSA in East Siang District, as their profit margin has been totally cut off. He also stated that, in general category (GCHH)

allotment system, ration cards are higher than the quota of the rice in FPS and in such situation it is unable to run the FPS properly. “While pleading the state government not to implement DBT system, I would also request the concern authorities to release the profit margin of the PFS at the earliest”, added Darang.

Martin, the main act of the festival, will perform at the Dree ground on October 27. The first edition of Rocktober Fest in Arunachal was organized in 2014.

Lauding the efforts of Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Superintendents of Police (SP) of Nagaon District in removing the encroachers from a portion adjoining Kaziranga National Park as per the directive of Guwahati High Court, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today called upon DCs and SPs of all districts to be proactive in freeing state lands from encroachers. He called upon the officials to be fearless and free from any pressure to act sternly against encroachers and said that people of the state have shown tremendous support to the government in freeing the satraand forest lands from encroachment. of DCs and SPs held at Assam Administrative Staff College Khanapara today, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the efficiency and honesty in performing one’s duties will determine the success of an administrator. Terming the NRC updation process as critical for the state as well as the nation, Sonowal directed the top officials of the districts to complete the historic process meticulously and without any error. Reiterating that the sealing Indo-Bangla Border is a top priority for the government, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the security of the whole country would be compromised if the border is allowed to remain porous.

A high level official meeting between the AAPSU team led by its President, Kamta Lapung and Chairman of the Core committee on ChakmaHajong issue Gumjum Haider and the Union Home Ministry, led by Union Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) office, New Delhi today to discuss issues concerning the state of Arunachal Pradesh with regards to granting citizenship to the Chakma-Hajong issue. While reaffirming its stand, the AAPSU team made it clear cut opposition against granting of citizenship of the Chakmas and Hajongs in the state and at the same time urged the Union govt. to take the interests of the indigenous Arunachalees into consideration and protect the safety and security of its people. While giving a patient hearing to the visiting team, the MHA officials stated that they wanted to be part of the SLP proceedings filed by the AAPSU in the Supreme Court. It was also informed that a team from the MHA officilas shall visit Arunachal Pradesh and will have a joint sitting with the state government and the AAPSU. And As per latest status report filed by the Arunachal state government before the Supreme Court on 9th September, around 140 applications were forwarded to the Union Home Ministry and another batch of 1000 applications would be processed in one and half months.

Changlang organizations cry foul on appointments made in the PWD Lomhom Tangha Changlang, 29 Sept

Changlang District based organizations; the Muklom Youth Association, Muklom Student’s Union and Changlang District Students’ Union have expressed resentment over the appointments made recently for group C and D posts in Public Work Department (PWD) in Changlang District by its Superintendent Engineer (SE), based in Jairampur, Er Tayu Gara and Er Ratu Techi, Superintendent Engineer, Training and Vigilance, Capital Complex. According to the organizations, as per the provision of Article 16 of clause (4) and in terms of Article 335, the group C and D posts are reserved for the candidates of the concerned district and the candidates belonging to the other districts in the ratio 80:20 respectively as declared by the Governor of

Arunachal Pradesh against the notification no. OM-38/76 dated 27th August 1997. However they alleged, the SE has appointed one Summy Tamuk on 12th of this month and another Biri Nogar as LDC cum Computer Operator on 20th of this month respectively overlooking the Governor’s order. Similarly, they alleged that one Smt. Kago Bune was appointed as peon on 4th last month while another Khoda Taake alleged to be a close kin of the SE was appointed as Handyman on 1st January 2016. Putting all speculations to an end, the State Government has announced release of 20 per cent bonus to tea gardens on the occasion of Durga Puja Festival. In view of brewing dissatisfaction of the tea garden workers over their demand for puja bonus, Chief Minister

Sarbananda Sonowal directed Industries and Commerce Department to dispense for the payment of 20 per cent bonus to tea workers as their puja gift. It may be mentioned that all the workers of the State owned tea gardens under Assam Tea Corporation Limited (ATCL) will be eligible for the bonus. ATCL in Assam has 15 tea gardens with over 16,000

workers spreading across the districts of Nagaon, Biswanath, Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Charaideo and Karimganj. The gardens at present are undergoing massive facelift in nurseries, re-plantation and announcement of 20 per cent bonus and the decision to release the amount in one go would surely serve as a morale booster for the workers.
