MoU signed between Mahabodhi Lord Buddha College of Namsai with SRRURDS Foundation of Thailand ET Bureau Namsai, 29 Nov: In a significant and positive development towards promoting cooperation and collaboration between the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh and Thailand, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Surindra Rajabhat University Regional Development Strategies (SRRURDS Foundation) of Surin Province, North East of Thailand and Mahabodhi Lord Buddha College of Namsai District, Arunachal Pradesh at Golden Pagoda Eco-Tourist Resort this evening. The MoU was signed in line with the development of friendly international cooperation with mutual interests in developing programs of academic exchange and for the purpose of establishing a long-term mutually beneficial association between the two institutes for fostering cordial relations between the people of the Arunachal Pradesh and Thailand. The MoU was signed by Associate Professor Dr. Achara Phanurat, ExPresident of Surindra Rajabhat University Regional Development Strategies (SRRURDS Foundation) and Ven. Bhikkhu Panyaloka, Director of Maha Bodhi Lord Buddha College, Namsai in presence of the Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein and Mr Tharadol Thongruang, Minister Councellor, Royal Thai Embassy, New Delhi. As per the MoU, both the institutes agreed to proceed the activities in academic and research cooperation, cultural activities for international development in educational institutions using international journals, magazines as a stage for academic exchange. Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein while terming the step as a significant one said, “This MoU has taken the Act East Policy in high spirit” and said that the Govt of Arunachal Pradesh is committed to bring Act East Policy into practical. Destruction of trees and encroachment mark Lekhapani range of Digboi Division Wild Life resources in Peril Laxman Sharma Digboi, Nov 29:

Calling upon an urgent attention of the Forest Minister of Assam Pramila Rani Brahma towards the discouraging picturesque of Lekhapani Range on multiple fronts under Digboi Division in Tinsukia District here this evening by a local NGO Green Buds Society, Debajit Moran the Secretary of the organization alleged that the range concern has been the worst victim at the hands of the miscreants carrying on various illegal trade thus gratifying their material lust at the cost of nature’s resources. The office bearers of the said

organization who conducted a survey in the belt alleged that Lekhapani Range falling between Margherita and Jagun sharing common boundary with the neighboring state of Arunachal Pradesh has been marked by unabated hillock cutting in Lal Pahar Area , merciless felling of precious trees for timber trade and encroachment in Kenya and Tirap area. According to ground report, the forest department has turned a deaf ear towards the anomalies and irregularities though brought into light several times earlier. Talking to this Journalist, Mr Moran Moran along with other activist of the NGO categorically alleged that the Ranger Bidhubushan Das who

Meanwhile, what is noteworthy is how Padum Barpatragohain the present Ranger of Jagun who is attached to Lekhapani Range with effect from 30th Nov 2016 delivers to combat the alleged existing menace.

Govt bans cultivation of poppy in entire Lower Dibang Valley A Staff Reporter Roing, 29 Nov

Following reports of cultivation and trafficking of poppy and ganja at Bizari and Anpum villages under Dambuk circle, the district magistrate has issued an executive order prohibiting the cultivation of poppy and/ or its manufacture, sell, purchase, trafficking of drugs or psychotropic substances in the entire Lower Dibang Valley district with immediate effect. Accordingly, all gaon burrahs, head gaon burrahs and general public have been advised to report any such cases to the police and administrative officers and office of the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dibang Valley district, Roing for further necessary action. Any lapse in implementation of this order and/or if any incidence of cultivation of poppy within their jurisdiction is found, the gaon burrahs or

The three days celebration of the “Poi Pee Mau Tai 2111” the New Year Festival of Tai People of Arunachal Pradesh begins at Namsai today. Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Chow Zingnu Namchoom inaugurated the three days festival extravaganza on behalf of the Deputy Chief Minister at Poi Pee Mau Ground amidst a huge gathering.
