India to Confederation of Service Association of tell China Americans vote to elect president Arunachal Pradesh lambasted the to put after ugliest campaign government for taking insensitive decisions A Staff Reporter Itanagar, Nov 8
Taking serious exception to the news about enhancement of the pensions for the former lawmakers, the Confederation of Service Association of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP) vehemently objected the move saying “the entire decisions reeks of self gratification by the legislators at large, all at the expense of state exchequer and common man’s hopes and dreams of better life.” In a press conference held at Arunachal Press Club today, a visibly irked Pate Marik, President, CoSAAP lambasted on the government for what he termed as a “highly insensitive decision of the government.” “When we, the CoSAAP members on behalf of all the government employees of the state asked for implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, which is rightfully entitled to us, the government consistently delayed the same months after months citing lack of funds with the state exchequer. However, when it came to their own, the legislators took no time to announce pension hike of whopping amount of Rs1 lakh as pension from the earlier amount of Rs 20,000 and another Rs 50, 000 as medical allowance against the earlier amount of Rs 5000, per month,” highlighted Marik.

Also, raising it from an
ethical stand point, the CoSAAP president questioned as to “why, a retired government servant who rendered services for some about 30-40 years gets his/her medical allowances raised from meagre amount of Rs 200 to Rs 500 while those of an exMLA, who with all the added perks and privileges during a five years tenure in the office gets enhancement of the same allowances from Rs 5000 to whopping amount of Rs 50, 000?,” before adding that, “why can’t they simply avail the privileges of the Chief Minister’s Universal Health Insurance Scheme instead?” Further continuing on the salvos against the government for the alleged “opportunistic decision,” Marik also lamented that “Earlier, the Chief Secretary had cited the invocation of the model code of conduct which is consequent upon the byeelection of Hayuliang Assembly Constituency as a reason for not being able to address the demands of the CoSAAP.” “Now, shouldn’t Model Code of Conduct rules apply to the current decision of enhancement of the exlawmakers pension and does it not amount to violation of the same?,” asked Marik before adding that “the Chief Secretary should answer for the same and set the record straight in the public domain.” He was supported strongly
in his condemnation of the government by his Secretary General, Gonya Riba and president of the CoSAAPWomen Wing, N P Khirmey. Meanwhile, asserting that the “move only exposes the lies of the government of running low on funds,” Marik went on to demand that, “If at all the government is adamant on pushing forward with the demands of the Former Legislator Welfare Association and thereby, enhance their pensions, the same privilege should be extended to the entire government servants who are at the service of the government day in and day out.” “Also, the government should no longer make excuses and rather, concentrate on fulfilling the standing demands of the CoSAAP failing which,” Marik added, “the government will have to face a more intensified and rigorous protests from the service association members.” Earlier on November 7 last, an Adhoc Committee under the chairmanship of Tamiyo Taga, Minister of Industries, Textile and Handicrafts along with members and legislator duo of Tumke Bagra and Tapuk Taku had unanimously decided and adopted to enhance the pension amount of ex-MLAs to the tune of Rs 1,50,000 per month as demanded by Former Legislator Welfare Association (FLWA).
