Etobicoke York Community Council this week unanimously approved the church’s faith and hope planning committee’s application to redevelop the church into a multiuse facility to include a new sanctuary, muchneeded community space and 30 seniors’ apartments while preserving heritage aspects of the 1922 building. Designed by Robert Reimers Architect Ltd., the project is an adaptive reuse of the heritage structure at a scale appropriate for the surrounding Mimico neighbourhood, a May city planning report stated. “Our purpose in the proposal is to renew the church building into an accessible, welcoming centre to better serve the community, the congregation and seniors who want to live comfortably in a low-rise, owner>>>church, page 20
