SLU takes fans to the ball game North Etobicoke youth get new experience CYNTHIA REASON creason@insidetoronto.com A group of young Blue Jays fans from Etobicoke were treated to the hottest tickets in town last week, courtesy of 23 Division police. Last Thursday, officers from the north Etobicoke division’s Somali Liaison Unit (SLU) accompanied 13 youth from the Dixon, Islington and Queen’s Plate communities to the Jays’ final home game of the regular season. And even though the home team was defeated by their division rival Baltimore Orioles 4-0,

Sgt. Brian Beadman still called it a “positive experience all the way around”. “My favourite part was just seeing the kids in awe. A lot of these kids have never gotten the chance to get out to a Blue Jays game, so it was that awe factor that kind of made my day,” Beadman said of the outing. “And with the Jays being a hot item right now, the kids were in their glory.” From a pizza party at the Big Blue Door games room at 340 Dixon Rd. before the game, to the train ride downtown on the Union Pearson Express, to >>>NIGHT, page 6
