DONATION DROP OFF: The Community Police Liaison Committee from Toronto police 22 Division, officers, auxillary, and representatives from 2nd Street Middle School collected food donations and dropped it all off at the Daily Bread Food Bank on Monday. Etobicoke teen Jesse Sukunda loves video games and he loves acting – so when his agent asked him if he wanted to audition for a new Disney XD show that would combine both passions, it was a no-brainer. “It’s pretty crazy. It’s not everyday that, me being a 13-year-old boy, I get to star on a show where I play video games and get to meet celebrities and stuff like that,” the young Richmond Gardens area resident said of landing a starring gig on Gaming Show (In My Parents’ Garage). “It’s livin’ the dream.” Filmed in Toronto, the innovative news-style show premiered on Disney XD last month and follows Jesse and fellow real-life video game addicts and aspiring YouTubers Julia Schwartz and Ian Duchene as a “trio of quirky young teens” who hang out, debate the virtues of video games and film field segments – all out of Jesse’s “tricked out” fictional garage. While his same-named character is a lot more “naturally awkward” than he is, Jesse said he and his on-screen alter-ego share an enthusiasm for video games that plays out on the Gaming Show (In My Parents’ >>>perks, page 17
