The Lakeshorts International Short Film Festival is set to celebrate its sixth anniversary at The Assembly Hall, 1 Col. Sam Smith Park Dr., on May 6 and 7. “Over the past six years, we have watched this festival grow from a grassroots initiative to a city-wide favourite event,” Lakeshorts’ artistic director Michelle Nolden said in a new release. “We are honoured to bring our passion for film to our community while making the world aware of our rich artistic life here in Toronto.” Produced by Fifth Ground Entertainment in association with Lakeshore Arts, this year’s Lakeshorts Festival promises to showcase some of the best independent short films from around the world. On Friday, May 6, the focus will be on the Scotiabank Loved and Local selections, featuring the works of local, emerging filmmakers, including: n The Offer (10 min, Canada), a quirky story about a door-todoor salesman selling answers to life’s questions in the form of encyclopedias; n Zero Recognition (10 min, Canada), starring Lauren Collins (Degrassi: The Next Generation) >>>tickets, page 15
