Amateur golf championship lands at Weston and Lambton courses Golf clubs host Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship Aug. 10-13 NORM NELSON nnelson@insidetoronto.com Two west-end Toronto golf courses are pairing up to host one of Canada’s most prestigious amateur golf tournaments. And one of Canada’s most decorated amateur golfers, Rexdale native and Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame inductee Warren Sye, will shake off injury and rust to return to his home course to defend the tournament he won 25 years ago. It wasn’t the glow of the Toronto skyline at dusk. It was pedestrians gathered around a male cyclist writhing in pain on the ground after colliding with another cyclist on the waterfront trail. Paramedics transported the injured cyclist to hospital. Cyclist collisions are commonplace on the trail, Clay reported. “It’s a good example of how dangerous the pathways are,” said Clay, who has lived at Palace Place for 11 years. “Many times there are collisions or near misses. “There is a need for >>COUNCILLOR, page 14
