youth will be empowered with the tools and resources to make a successful transition to independent living – and ultimately a home to call their own,” YWS said in a statement Team Depot representatives

visited the shelter recently to help brighten up its gardens with fresh plantings and to paint the shelter’s new employment resource space. The funding will help pay for such things as:

■ the replacement of the damaged vinyl tile flooring; ■ the construction of an office/resource space for the YWS Employment Program; ■ Employment Program services enhancements.

Etobicoke’s Dorothy Ley Hospice is set to receive a funding increase of $150,000 as part of Ontario’s $13.9-million investment in hospice services across the province. “Hospices provide Ontarians and their families with high quality and compassionate palliative and end-of-life-care,” Dr. Eric Hoskins, minister of Health and Long-Term Care, said in a statement. The investment will increase funding for existing hospice beds by $15,000 per adult bed and $22,400 per pediatric bed. “The Dorothy Ley Hospice welcomes this new commitment by the government of Ontario as another important step toward ensuring the ongoing sustainability of Dorothy Ley Hospice’s vision of fostering hope and dignity for individuals at the end of life,” Sally Lewis, chair of the Dorothy Ley Hospice board of directors, said in a statement. “Working with our community partners, Dorothy Ley Hospice will continue to ensure access to compassionate and high-quality palliative care, through our community program and our ten bed residential hospice.”
