•StudentsareonplacementeachFridayfrom9.00–1.15[schoolhours]butthese hoursmayvarydependingontheneedsoftheemployer.

Ilearnedthatitisimportanttostickatsomethingandgiveitatryevenwhenyoudon’twant toandthismattersbecauseweallhavetotrydifferentthingsinlifethatwemightnotlike.For example,onceIgotusedtothecanoeIwaslessscaredandstartedtoenjoyitmore. Orienteeringtaughtushowtonavigatearoundanareausingamapandduringrock climbingwelearnedhowtotiea“figureofeight”knotinarope,whichisreallystrong. Good,becauseIwaswillingtotrynewthingsandgetinvolved,evenifsomeofthem scaredmeatfirst.Ilearnedthatit’sgoodtofaceyourfearsandIcan’twaittotryagain.

IknewnurseswereverybusyandIlearnedallaboutthedifferentthingsthatnurses havetodoeachday.Iexpectedittobeabusyjobanditreallyis,butitwasalsoavery funjobbecausethereisalotofsupportfromothernursesandthewardmanager.The atmosphereinthestaffroomisveryfriendly.Thepatientsareallverynicetoo.
