SUBJECT: Design and Communication Graphics

What is this subject all about at Senior Cycle?

This subject is a follow on from Graphics at Junior Cycle which deals with Technical Graphics and the understanding of Geometry, Sketching and Problem Solving. Research, Design, Sketching and Modelling Solutions on CAD (Computer Aided Design). Some of the areas studied are Projection Systems, Plane and Roof Geometry, Conic Sections, Descriptive Geometry, Intersections and Developments of Surfaces. There is also an option area to be studied including Geologic Geometry, Structural Forms, Surface Geometry, Dynamic Mechanisms and Assemblies.

Assessment?

» A Terminal Drawing Exam (60%)- examined in one paper of 3-hour duration. » Student Assignment (40%)- Solidworks models and portfolio based on a brief issued in September of 6th Year.
