Our students are being recognised for their digital skills which are developed and applied during their time in Creagh College.
The short course aims to develop the student’s ability to formulate problems logically; to design, write and test code through the development of programs, apps, games, animations or websites; and, through their chosen learning activities, to learn about computer science.
This short course aims to engage students in artistic practices with others. It offers a structure that can be used to facilitate collaborative and individual imaginative and creative initiatives, leading to a group performance. There are three strands in this course: Experiencing the arts; Planning and preparing; Participation and performance.
Through studying this digital media literacy short course, students will learn to use digital technology to engage in selfdirected enquiry, to discriminate between multiple sources of information and to participate safely and effectively in an online environment. This short course aims to extend and refine students’ ability to use digital technology, communication tools, and the internet creatively, critically and safely, in support of their development, learning and capacity to participate effectively in social and community life.

The “GAA Going Well” short course aims to develop students’ skills through tasks that promote activity while also looking at areas of their own personal health and wellness. This programme is designed to develop self-esteem, build trust, and develop morale and team spirit, through a mix of theory and practical classes. Students must actively take part in class through participation in GAA sports and submit an e -portfolio online for assessment.
This short course provides an engaging introduction to philosophy at second level. It aims to engage students in philosophical enquiry and dialogue about life’s big questions and to develop critical, creative, collaborative, caring thinkers who can participate in informed discourse and act in the world in a more reflective manner.
This short course aims to develop students’ positive sense of themselves and their physical, social, emotional and spiritual health and wellbeing. It also aims to build the capacity of young people to develop and maintain healthy relationships. Students learn about themselves, caring for themselves and others and making informed decisions for their health and wellbeing.
SHORT COURSES AVAILABLE IN CREAGH COLLEGE

Creagh College has been selected to be one of the pilot schools to be part of the phased introduction of Computer Science as a subject in the Leaving Certificate. Being a pilot school means that Leaving Certificate Computer Science was introduced to Creagh College 5th year students in September 2018.

Creagh College is a pilot school for phase two of the new Politics and Society course for Leaving Certificate. The subject consists of a final written exam worth 80% and a coursework component, a Citizen Project Report, worth 20% of the marks.

Transition Year is a one year optional programme designed to develop self-directed learning and to promote self-esteem and maturity. It affords students the opportunity to acquire new skills while continuing to work in their core subject areas. Students take modules in a variety of subjects which enables them to make informed choices when they enter Senior Cycle. • Entrance tests spread over two days and run alongside induction activities to help students get a better idea of what lies ahead when they commence their second level education.
A group of sixth year students are assigned as mentors to first year students. The Meitheal students help the first years throughout the year to settle into their new school by meeting them regularly and organising events for them. The senior students act as positive role models and provide encouragement and support for our new pupils.
