Scoil Mhuire is a co-educational primary school located 12 kilometres from New Ross in Co. Wexford. Scoil Mhuire is situated in the townsland of Ballinamona, Campile, Co. Wexford, on the New Ross – Campile road. It is a central school for the Parish of Sutton’s, which is divided into Horeswood and Ballykelly Curacies.
In 1979 four schools in the parish amalgamated into Scoil Mhuire. These four schools were Aclare NS, Ballykelly NS, Horeswood NS, and Killesk NS.
Scoil Mhuire has 11 mainstream teachers and five special education teachers. There are five SNA’s in the school. We have two cleaners, caretaker and secretary.
School Ethos
Scoil Mhuire Horeswood is a Catholic School under the Patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Ferns. Scoil Mhuire is an inclusive school and we accept children of all faiths and of none. Our school motto “Learning for life together” is the cornerstone of our work in Scoil Mhuire. We encourage all pupils to reach their full potential. The school celebrates the uniqueness of each child and aims to develop him/her spiritually, morally, cognitively, emotionally, socially and physically.
Scoil Mhuire seeks to cherish and challenge children in a safe secure and attractive learning environment and through a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum. The school also desires that children grow and develop into healthy, confident mature adults, capable of realising their full potential as human beings. Scoil Mhuire, Horeswood will also endeavour to enhance self-esteem of all in the school community and to instill in the pupil’s respect and to encourage in them responsible citizenship.

Scoil Mhuire is at the heart of our local community, serving the parish of Horeswood and the surrounding areas. Parents and teachers work together and support each other to ensure that all our pupils are happy and realise the fullness of their potential.
School Opening Times
School starts at 9.20am for all classes. Infant classes go home at 2pm. First to Sixth Classes go home at 3pm. The Board of Management of Scoil Mhuire do not accept responsibility for pupils before 9.10am unless they are attending school related activities.
School Uniform
Our school uniform consists of a navy tracksuit and light blue polo shirt. We also have a crested top. Our school crested tops are available from Ray Lawlor, New Ross. Sew on crests are also available from the school office for parents who wish to purchase plain navy tops.
School Meals
Scoil Mhuire provides a free hot meal and snack to all pupils daily.
School Facilities
We are very lucky to be located in a beautiful rural location in Scoil Mhuire. We have extensive playing areas around our school, including a tarmac playing area and pitch. We also have full access to the local GAA pitch adjacent to the school, including a marvellous indoor astroturf.
