Second, after I was taken away to the Forbidden City, I was the lost emperor of China. Did you know I didn’t get to see my mother for seven years? Third, I was the youngest emperor of China. After that, I was emperor for three years. Next, I was captured by the Red Soviet Army at the end of World War II in 1945 while I was in a plane fleeing to Japan. The first time was 1908-1912 as the Xuantong Emperor, and the second was a restoration by a war lord general Zhang Xun. However, I sat on the throne for just twelve days July 1-July 12. The Cahuilla by Marc Albrechtskirchinger
The Cahuilla lived in what we now call Southern California. The weather was warm with a little rain. Sometimes it could get very dry. Their traditional name was the Cahuilla. Cahuilla lived in small houses made of cedar bark, which would keep them warm during the winter. The Cahuilla hunted deer, quail and rabbit. They also fished for trout, bass and catfish. Mesquite beans, pinenuts, cacti and acorns were also part of their diet. The Cahuilla people wore rabbit fur, deerskin, sheepskin and mesquite bark. The Cahuilla used horses and carriages for transportation. When someone died among the Cahuilla, people would burn all his or her belongings to free the diseased spirits. In arts, the Cahuilla people made fine baskets with designs of eagles and turtles. They made their baskets out of reeds and grass. Children made little figures out of the outsides of corn.

The Gift of the Sacred Dog By Aidin Bina
The people had a problem. They could not find the buffalo herds. One of the boys could not stand seeing his little brothers and sisters cry for food. His parents had to give the little food that they had to his little brothers and sisters. The boy went to the Great Spirit and said, "Our tribe cannot find the buffalo herds." The Great Spirit said, "I know of your troubles. I will give you something called a sacred dog." The next morning the tribe received the sacred dogs. The sacred dogs helped the tribe catch up to the buffalo herds. This is a story of how horses came to be. A Sioux folktale References: Goble, Paul The Gift Of The Sacred Dog

Title: The Lost Hero Author: Rick Riordan The Lost Hero is a book by Rick Riordan. In it, a demi-god named Jason wakes up on a bus next to his "girlfriend" named Piper, completely brainwashed except still knowing his name. Later in the story, Jason gets dropped off by other demi-gods to a camp called "Camp Half Blood". During the time that he was there, he learned from Prophecy Seven (at Camp Half Blood, the Oracle of Delphi tells prophecies) that Jason and his friends Leo and Piper must go on a quest to keep the giant Porphyrion from awaking. If they fail to do that, then they must destroy him. One of my favorite parts of the story is when Leo says something like "If and when we complete this quest and other demi-gods are talking about us, they'll be saying Leo is the guy who fell in love with every girl he met on his quest." Near that part, Leo and his friends meet a goddess who joins forces with Gaea and who they have to fight in the end of the book. The Lost Hero takes place in many places. However, in most of them, the three have to fight monsters to survive. I'd highly recommended this book to third graders who love to read because The Lost Hero is educational and funny, and because the author Rick Riordan makes the story interesting. Do Jason, Piper, and Leo complete their quest alive? You'll have to read the book to find out!

Iroquois By Max Brady
The Iroquois traditional name is Haudenosaunee. That name means "people of the longhouse." The Iroquois tribe lived in New York. The Iroquois people lived in longhouses. A longhouse is a long half cylinder. It can fit up to two families. The Iroquois ate the "three sisters." The "three sisters" are corn, beans, and squash. The Iroquois clothes in the winter were made from animal fur. In the summer the clothes were made out of grass. They traveled by walking. The Iroquois people have a ceremony called the powwow. Many Northeast Indians participate. They share arts and crafts and food from traditional recipes. The Iroquois people made handmade baskets for arts and crafts. They made baskets out of copper and birch. The Iroquois decorated the baskets with beads, animal parts and ribbons. They used the baskets for storing food and washing corn kernels. Title: Danny Champion of the World Author: Roald Dahl
Danny Champion of the World is a great book by Roald Dahl. In the story, Danny finds out that his dad poaches pheasants. They try to poach all the pheasants that belong to Mr. Hazell, because has a shooting party and they don't like Mr. Hazell. My favorite part is when Danny and his dad drop the raisins because it is very exciting. They have to watch out for the guards in Mr. Hazell’s woods. They see how the guards look around. They also still have to sneak out of the woods when they’re done. And at night, is very hard to get out. I would recommend it to people who like adventure. Can you find out how Danny poaches all of Mr. Hazell’s pheasants? You have to read to find out! 145
Mystic Horse by Alex Carlstrom
In those days when the Pawnee people harvested the corn they would go hunt buffalo. Traveling with the people were a poor grandmother and her grandson. One day the poor grandmother and her grandson found a weak horse. The boys guarding the horses saw the enemy. The poor boy rode the weak horse. The people teased the boy. The horse spoke to the boy, "Take me to the river." Then the horse said, "Don't take your bow and arrow, take a stick.Hit the leader four times. Don't do it more times.” The boy did as the horse said, but the boy did hit the leader again, and the horse was hit by an arrow. The horse was dead. Soon the horse came back alive and said, "Put me on the mountain." The boy came back to the mountain. The horse was leading many horses. The woman and the boy were not poor any more. They always had horses to ride. References: Goble, Paul Mystic horse

Title: Football Champ Author: Tim Green Football Champ is a great book by Tim Green. The story is about a kid named Troy who wants to be an NFL Quarterback. When Troy was two years old his dad moved to California. My favorite part was when Troy played the Dunnwoody Dragons in the semifinals. It's because the Dunnwoody Dragons are bigger than the other team. And if Troy and his team win, they will play the Vipers, who are bigger and faster. But, Troy dislocated his right finger, so he can’t throw. The main idea of the story is to never quit. I would recommend this book to people who like sports because it's a football story. Try to find out if Troy wins against the Dunnwoody Dragons!!!!

The Blackfoot by Ty Ciongoli
The Blackfeet live in the Great Plains. The Blackfeet live in Browning Reservation, Montana and Alberta, Canada. The climate is with some rain. Their land is grassy and snowy. The language that the Blackfoot traditionally speak is English. The Blackfoot used to be neighbors with the Cree but they fought too much so the Blackfeet moved to Montana, USA and Alberta, Canada. The Blackfoot name was given to them by the Europeans. Their shelter was big, not long. Their teepee was built with buffalo skin and strong branches. Buffalo skin was mostly used to build teepees. Traditionally the Blackfoot ate buffalo, fish, squash, beans, corn and moose. Blackfoot people traveled by foot or horse. One of the Blackfoot ceremonies is the Sun Dance. The Sun Dance is a yearly event that takes place in the summer it includes singing and dancing. The Sun Dance still takes place every year in the summer. References: Press, Petra The Blackfoot

Title: Basketball's Greatest Players Author: S.A. Kramer Basketball’s Greatest Players is a book by S.A. Kramer. This book is about NBA legends that were amazing. I can name you some of them, like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabar, and a lot more. A problem in the book is when Michael Jordan gets cut from his high school basketball team. He felt bad because he wanted to make the team. My favorite part is when they talk about Michael Jordan and Larry Bird. I liked it because it was interesting. They talked about when they were kids and their lives outside of basketball. Their lives are two different stories in the book. The main idea in one of these stories comes up when Michael Jordan gets cut from his high school basketball team. It really inspired me to never give up because the the next summer he worked really hard to make the basketball team and he did! I recommend this book to people who like basketball.

The Prophecy of the Two Serpents A Mohawk Folk Tale by Connor Gandel One day two hunters were bored, and went canoeing in a very big, damp and soggy swamp. They found two baby serpents, one silver, and one gold. They decided to take them home to have people admire the little serpents once they returned to the village. Even before they arrived in the village, people started paying close attention to the serpents because of the bright light they were giving off. The hunters kept them in a little canoe until the serpents became too big for it. Then, they put the serpents in big pens that could fit the two serpents. Eventually, the serpents grew so big they escaped from the pen and started rampaging all over the village. They killed parents and even swallowed children whole! The people of the village used everything they could to stop the serpents, from clubs to knives, but nothing worked. Eventually the gigantic serpents left, leaving the Mohawk village a wreck. The silver serpent went North, and the gold one went South. After many years, the serpents returned as big as mountains! The people of the Mohawk village remembered what their ancestors had told them. These serpents were deadly! People scrambled to find a way to both kill the serpents and defend themselves. Everyone was hopeless. To this day people believe that a little boy in the village will use a sacred bow and arrow, the string will be made from the hair of clan mothers, the arrow will be made from a tipped sapling and flint, and the bow will be made of willow. This, in Mohawk legend, will kill the two serpents. References: http://www.firstpeople.us/FP-‐Html-‐Legends/The-‐Prophecy-‐Of-‐The-‐Two-‐Serpents-‐Mohawk.html

Book Review by Toby Halloran Title: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe Author: C.S. Lewis
The main characters in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe are Lucy, Edmund, Susan, Peter, Aslan, Mr. Tumnus, the White Witch, and the beavers. The setting is in Narnia. The problem is that Aslan (the lion) is going to be killed. My favorite part is when Peter fights the White Witch because I think it is the most exciting part. There is a war going on between the White Witch and Narnia to decide if the White Witch will be the queen of Narnia. The main idea of the story is figuring out who the king and queen of Narnia are. I recommend this book to people who like Percy Jackson and Harry Potter because they are all fantasy and have talking animals.

FIRE RACE A Pomo folktale By Ian Hendrix
Long ago the animal people had no fire. The fire was guarded by the yellow jackets. The yellow jackets were so wicked and mean they hoarded all the fire and never shared. One day Old Wise Coyote thought that the animal people should cooperate and trick the yellow jackets and steal the fire.So all of the animals did but all of them stayed outside, expect for Old Wise Coyote. Old Wise Coyote went inside to try and trick the yellow jackets. He said to the yellow jackets" If you close your eyes I will make you beautiful". and they fell for it!As soon as they closed their eyes he took fire and ran as fast as he could, the yellow jackets weren't far behind. Old Wise Coyote past the fire to turtle, then fox, then bull, then snake and bear and then frog. But Sadly the yellow jackets grabbed the fire and they were about to get away, but frog flung his tongue and caught the fire and held the fire in his mouth until the yellow jackets gave up (which wasn't very long.) Finally frog spat the fire and the fire (sadly) extinguished. Old Wise Coyote thought of an idea to make fire, and it worked. Now All the animals have had fire for the rest of their lives. The End. Navajo by Will Hesp
The Navajo were given their name by the Europeans. The Navajo call themselves the Din é . The Din é means "the people". The Navajo live in the Southwest of what we call the USA. They live in the northeastern part of Arizona, in the northwestern part of New Mexico and the southeastern part of Utah. It is very dry there. The Navajo traditionally lived in a house called a hogan. A hogan is made with pollen, meal and packed earth . The Navajo ate sheep and lamb . They also ate fry bread . The clothes they wore were made of animal fur and sometimes breech clothes, They put decorations on their clothes like feathers and dyes. The Navajo traveled by horses. The Navajo have a ceremony called A'we chai' heed'ya. The celebration is when their baby laughs. When the baby laughs for the first time, the family celebrates and shares a lot of food and dances. Some Navajo people weave. The farmers get wool and silk and give to the tribe . Then some of the grownups and children start to weave and make designs with different colors. They make the colors with different types of dyes. The dyes are from flowers and other things from nature. References: Ryan, Marla Felkins and Schmittroth, Linda Navajo 153

Title: The Secret Soldier Author: Ann McGovern The Secret Soldier is book by Ann McGovern. In this story a woman named Deborah Sampson goes to war. At that time, women couldn't go to war. Deborah has a long and weird life. She faces many challenges. And, Deborah Sampson gets shot. That is only one challenge she faces. My favorite part is when she goes to the war because she has to disguise herself as a man. George Washington becomes a general. He wants soldiers that will serve for a long time, and Deborah does that. I really liked this part because Deborah has to disguise herself and has to practice being a man. This story proves that a woman can do what a man can do. I recommend this book to people who like adventure. What will happen to Deborah? Will she get caught?

Title: A Long Haul Author: Jeff Kinney A Long Haul is a book by Jeff Kinney. There is a boy named Greg Heffley. He has two brothers. One is Rodrick and the other is Manny. Greg's mom takes the family on a road trip. They go to a water park and lose phones, IDs, and credit cards. My favorite part is when Manny gets a pig. This was surprisingly funny. Manny won the pig by winning a raffle. Also, Rodrick wins the stinkiest shoe contest. The Heffleys go to a hotel every day. It is also interesting when Greg and his family go and get six chicken McNuggets because they don’t have their money and have to look for loose change to buy them. While at a hotel Greg, meets a family. Greg calls the family the Beardos. I learned to never double cross the Beardos. I would recommend this book because it is a funny book. Will Greg survive? Read to find out!

Book Review by Logan Long Title: Football: Then To Wow Author: Edited by Sports Illustrated
Football: Then To Wow is about how football has changed over the years. And, it's about players and positions, like running backs Gale Sayers, Bo Jackson, Chris Johnson, Barry Sanders, Maurice Jones-Drew, Darren Sproles, Earl Campbell, Emmitt Smith, Marshawn Lynch, and Ladanian Tomlison. I have a lot of favorite parts in the story. I liked reading about records like how Tom Brady set a record of 50 touchdown passes in 2007 and how Adrian Peterson broke the record for most rushing yards in a postseason. I also liked how Jared Allen of the Minnesota Vikings challenged Michael Strahan's mark in 2011, but he came just short with 22 sacks. I liked reading about all of the Super Bowls that happened in NFL history. For example, the Patriots had a dream season with a record of 16 and 1, and went to the 2007 Super Bowl. This book is for kids who like football. I learned a lot of football facts. I thought it was a really good book because I like a lot of sports and this book tells you a lot about football.

The Apache's land is all desert in the Southwest. It does not rain in the Southwest. The areas where the Apaches live are Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona and Colorado. The shelter the Apaches made are tepees and wickiups. Tepees are made out of long poles of wood. Wickiups are made out of branches of wood. The people ate bison, cacti, berries, root vegetables and potatoes. The Apache made their clothing out of bison skin and cotton. The Apache women wove beautiful baskets. Apache women used baskets to carry and store food. They made the baskets from reeds and leaves. They wove interesting things, like animals and shapes, on their baskets. The Apache also dyed their baskets. The Apache used beads. They used beads on their clothing and pouches. They used turquoise, amber, ivory, and bones for their beads. Title: Call Me Francis Tucket Author: Gary Paulsen Call Me Francis Tucket is a book by Gary Paulsen. Tucket had a horse named the Mara. He shot a bison and got stuck in the herd. That next morning he got his stuff stolen. That night he stole it back. The next day he saw a carriage. In the carriage were two kids. Tucket took the kids and the mule from the people who stole his stuff and put them on the carriage. And, he shot a buck. When he came out of the woods he saw two Indians. They were hunting. My favorite part was when he shot the buck because I like venison. The main idea of the whole book was for Tucket to find a home. I would not recommend this book to people who like sports because this book is an adventure book. The character learned not to steal.

Title: The Titans Curse Author: Rick Riordan
The Titans Curse is a book by Rick Riordan. Percy’s friend Annabeth gets taken by a monster. Percy is also getting chased by five skeletons. He has to fight a Titans army. My favorite part is when Percy has to fight Atlas. Percy has to fight him because if he doesn’t, Atlas is going to end the world. I like this part because it is exciting. Another interesting part is when Percy's friend beats the skeleton because he is no longer getting chased by a skeleton. The main goal in the story is that Percy has to get his friends back. Percy is brave. I would recommend this book because a lot of stuff happens. Will Percy find his friends or not?

Title: D-Day: The Invasion of Normandy, 1944 Author: Rick Atkinson D Day: The Invasion of Normandy, 1944 is a book by Rick Atkinson. The main characters are the people in WWII. It's a book with a lot of settings and times. The problem is that the Germans, Japanese, and the Italians are taking over the world. My favorite part is when the U.S., Canada, and Britain win a few battles because they jumped off planes. I liked it because it was intense. They also traveled on boats to destroy. It was intense because some of the planes crashed and some survived. One battle was called "The Battle of Omaha Beach". I learned about history from WWII, and its weapons. I would recommend this book to people who like war and are from ages 10 to 60.

He then went to the arrow maker who made him into an arrow. Then the arrow maker shot him from his bow to the sun. Next, when the boy flew to the sun he found his father who was the Sun God. The boy had to go through four Kivas. The first Kiva had lions, the second had serpents, the third had bees, and the fourth had lighting. Then the Sun God gave his son some of the god's power. When the boy came back, he gave light to the people. References: McDermott, Gerald Arrow to the Sun

Book Review by Chris Ryan Title: The Magician's Nephew Author: C.S. Lewis
The Magician's Nephew is a book by C.S. Lewis. It is about two kids, Digory and Polly, who need to cure Digory's sick mom. So, they get sent to Narnia. A talking lion puts them on a flying horse to get a healing apple. Soon two people are made king and queen of Narnia. My favorite part is when a witch gets into London. There is a fight between a couple people. Soon, they go back to Narnia. That's my favorite part because it is exciting. It puts a good picture in my mind of what was happening. The main lesson is to help other people. Digory tries to help his mom heal from her sickness. I would recommend this book because it puts a good visual in your mind. Will Digory save his mom? Read the book to find out!

Wampanoag by Griffin Sipp The Wampanoag live on the shores and on the islands of Massachusetts. The weather is hot in the summer. Fall is breezy. The winter is snowy outside. The Wampanoag ate different foods. Mastodon, caribou, fish, beaver, and ox were meats they ate. Roots, seeds, fruit, corn, and journey cakes are foods that came from plants. The Wampanoag had two types of shelter called wetus and longhouses. In the wetus there is a whole for cooking. They're made out of bark and branches. Wetus have one family in them. Longhouses have many families living in them. They are made out of saplings. Families live in them during fall and winter. Men and women had different clothing than each other. Men wore loincloths made of deer skin, snake skin belts, and moccasins made of moose skin. Women wore deer skin dresses, shirts, and capes. They had deer skin pouches and moccasins for shoes. The Wampanoag traveled by canoes. The canoes were called mishoon. A small mishoon carried one or two people. A large mishoon could carry up to forty people. The Wampanoag made canoes out of tree trunks. The Wampanoag fished off mishoons in oceans, rivers, and lakes Wampanoag used clay and the plants to make arts and crafts . They dug clay from the riverbed. They shaped it into pots. Women and children decorated pots with dye from plants. Children made dogs, dolls, and mishoons from bits of clay. Title: Warriors Author: Erin Hunter Warriors is a book by Erin Hunter. This story is about a cat named Rusty. Rusty joins a cat clan called the Thunder Clan. They find out that another clan is stealing their food. It takes place in the woods. My favorite part is when Rusty fights a cat in Shadow Clan because I was curious about who was going to win. The most important part was when the Thunder Clan fought the Shadow Clan. The Thunder Clan needed to get food so that they won’t starve. The lesson in the story is to not take what’s not yours. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure because a lot of things are going on.

Title: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days Author: Jeff Kinney Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a book by Jeff Kinney. In the story there is a character named Greg. Greg has a little brother and an older brother. The story is interesting because Greg likes a girl. Greg wants to say something to the girl. My favorite part in the book is Greg getting a dog for his birthday. Greg gets one later in the story. I like this part because the dog’s name is Sweetie. Manny, the little brother, names the dog. Sweetie always does something bad to Greg. The problem in the story is that Greg likes a girl. Read the book to find out what happens! I recommend this book to people who like humor because it’s funny.

Book Review by Luke Travaglini Title: Stone Fox Author: John Reynolds Gardiner Stone Fox is a book by John Reynolds Gardiner. The story takes place on a potato farm in Wyoming. In Stone Fox , Little Willy 's grandpa gets ill and stops moving and talking. Little Willy enters a dog race with his dog Searchlight. Little Willy enters the race because he needs money so he can pay off his sick grandpa's taxes. He is up against a Shoshone dog racer named Stone Fox. My favorite part is how the race finishes because it is exciting. There were people lining down the streets to see who comes out on top. The moral of the story is to never give up. Little Willy enters the race against a professional dog racer, and that takes a lot of courage and time. I would recommend this book to people that like exciting stories. Can Little Willy beat Stone Fox? Read find out!

The Seminole By Halsey Tyler Seminole stands for "runaway." The Seminole lived in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and then they lived in the Everglades. The weather there was a little bit hot and humid. The Seminole lived in tepees. The tepees were made of wood and leather. Their homes were portable. The Seminole hunted fish and other animals. The Seminole traveled on foot and in wooden canoes. The Seminole cut down trees and carved the tree trunks into canoes. One of the traditional ceremonies was The Green Corn Dance. The Green Corn Dance marked the start of a new year. It took place when the corn was ripe to eat. The Seminole thought the Green Corn Dance healed people that were sick. The Seminole were good at making dolls. They made girl and boy dolls. They also made baskets with some color. The baskets were big and they were sturdy. They were woven out of thin sticks and grass. The color came from plant dye. References: Press, Petra The Seminole

First Fire Cherokee Folktale By Gage Webber Long ago when the world was new there was no fire. The cold wind blew. And the frost covered the ground. One stormy day silver zigzagged lightning bolts came out of the clouds. A bolt struck the bottom of a sycamore tree on an island. Flames burst from the sycamore tree. The animals watched as puffs of smoke came from the fire. They wanted the fire. They needed the fire. The island was far away. The animals decided that the animals would bring back the fire. White Raven went first. Raven perched on a branch. Raven did not know how to bring back the fire. The heat scorched Raven's feathers black. Raven flew back without the fire. "I'll get the fire," said Screech Owl, so Screech Owl flew to the sycamore tree. A blast of fire flashed Screech Owl’s eyes. The owl finally found his way back to the animals. Without the fire. To this day Screech Owl’s eyes shine red in the light. "Hoot Owl and I will go,” said Horned Owl. They perched close to the fire. An angry wind blew hot ashes that burned the feathers circling the owl's eyes. They returned without the fire. To this day Hoot Owl and Horned Owl's eyes are circled with white rings. "I'll get the fire," said Racer. Racer swam to the island. Heat scorched Racer's scales black. Racer twisted and turned to escape. The snake returned without the fire. To this day Racer twists and turns in a slither and is as black as midnight. The animals tried to get the fire again and made excuses why they couldn't get the fire. At last Spider said, "I'll go." "How will you get the fire?" asked Racer. "I have a plan," said Spider. Spider walked on water to the sycamore tree. Spider made a silk bowl and put a coal in her silk bowl and brought the fire back to the animals. References: Allen, Nancy Kelly First Fire

Spring by David Albrechtskirchinger
The flowers are blooming in the spring sun. Then I run and run and run some more. I stand on the soft green grass ready for fun. Tasting a leaf of mint isn’t a chore. The breeze against my face so warm. My teeth sink into the apple’s core. T-shirts are out, the baseball caps too, and the sandals swarm. My dog is rearing to catch the Frisbee once more. Lemonade slipping ever so slowly down my throat. My toes can dig into the cool soil. I can’t even think of wearing a coat. Spring is enjoyable, and I’m feeling spoiled. Except for the sting of a bee. Which hurts and ends the dream for me.

How is Brown Important?
(Inspired by Mary O’Ne ill) by: Carter Bartel
Brown is the dirt and the mud we play in. Brown is the woods and the dog who will win. Brown is old but not at all cold. It smells like hot cocoa, try not to be loco when I tell you, Brown is cinnamon and morning toast. Brown is coffee like New England Roast. Brown is strong just like a box, Brown is hard just like some rocks. Some eyes are brown so don’t give me a frown. Brown is hair and brown is a bridge, Brown can crumble the same as a ridge. Brown has a wife her name is orange. Brown is the color of some people’s door hinge. Orange and brown have a baby boy, His name is autumn and he has a favorite toy. It is a little autumn colored car. He plays with it pushing it near and far. Brown is a bear vicious with claws, Deadly and big it tears with its jaws. Brown is many things but the most important one is… Brown is fun, a friendship bonded together, Brown is many friends to hold you close forever. 184

Poems on My Paper By: Max Casado
Poems are on my paper when I am learning. They are with me in bed, cuddled up with me when I am dreaming. The BIG and Large poems are with me in the city. The small poems are with me in the country. When I am smiling The warm thoughts come into my head. In the middle of a soccer game I feel the ball tap, tap, tapping, on my feet the rhythm of poetry. Poetry is sweet juicy with flavor. Rough, fluffy and furry poetry comes with all of them.

White is Hibernating And Blooming by: Daniel Drucker inspired by Mary O’Neill
White is spring blooming, the sweet sticky smell of a new cycle. White is the wind hollering making a breeze that smells of vanilla. Lying on the grass dreaming on a cloud. White is a wedding cake on the beach. White is bonding with your family, going in the water playing. White is the stars at night, White is the stars on the flag. White is lying on the couch taking a nap by the fire. White is cold snow falling on your face. White is making snow angles. Looking up at the glazed frosted trees. White is puffing air coming out of the cold. White is you in your cozy bed snoring. Suddenly you hear the booing of a ghost. White is the dream of a ghost. Hibernating in the winter and blooming in the spring. 190

I could throw it at a comet Gosh darnit I still can’t write a sonnet

Spring meadows So pretty Butterflies Gently flutter Through the fresh, cold, spring air. Sparrows dive into the night sky Soaring right in front of the stars. Morning dew from a chrysanthemum falls right into A small pond On the edge of an colossal ocean Making Three small ripples. Seagulls Raid the beach Early in the morning Searching to find whatever people have left, the previous day. Crickets Playing music With their legs Behind the tall grass On a relaxing Drizzly spring morning Like an orchestra They play for hours Each day. Where I am from By Hunter Stofer
I am from adventures to forests beyond eye can see quiet, calm, and focused. A Home where the laundry smells like tide wearing a Patagonia shirt and a nike sweater and going outdoors with Hunter Boots, drinking lemonade, and fresca. We never miss a chance to go to South Carolina to go surfing or swimming and to Utah to go skiing and climbing. My dad says the bus is leaving are we going or are we leaving? Russia, Moscow, and London, and memories from all. The foods we eat never change salad, chicken, pasta, and maybe some lobster. I am from going away and saying goodbye.

Snowy Forest by: Lachlan Sutton
Within a snow covered forest, stinging. Trees heavy with snow, hanging, drooping boughs. I feel the sting of hornets, cold ringing. Prancing in the night, a ringing white glow. Dancing wherever the wind takes the snow. Whistling wind, whipping against my face. The owls, in their night time perch, hoo, hoo, hoo. Snowflakes blowing, without a sound or trace. Footprints in whipping snow, without a trace. The dusk is harsh, sleeting, but beautiful. Snowflakes meet in the night, a rough embrace. Nature asleep, no sound will be restful. Air and snow rushing, but the late night still. It strikes midnight, the wolf goes for the kill. 226
