NATURAL GEMS OF LOS ANGELES Los Angeles is known for it’s diverse and surreal environment with the mountains being only a few hours away from the beach. Lifestyle photographer Mike Fox displays three locations to embrace the different pockets of Los Angeles and how to use natural light to your advantage. LA has been such an important staple for The Fox Magazine and our journey in media publishing. EC H O PAR K L A K E
The lake has been around since 1860. It was once used as a drinking water reservoir, and later as a recreational park with canoes and fishing. Today, you can push your way through the lake in a pedal boat (including a swan boat) or stroll around the path that hugs its borders. Either way, make sure to stop at the revived boathouse and its breakfast pit stop Beacon. From a water area to an incredible skyline, there’s definitely something for everyone to enjoy. From food trucks to walking paths, lotuses and birds there’s just a nice vibe here! The landscaping is lovely, the lotus flowers are back and better than ever and there’s free wifi across the entire park. It’s also clean, making natural light photos a great choice rather it’s portraits or shots of the lake. Sunset and night shots are the best for Echo Park.

VENI C E CANALS
The Venice Canals is an undeniable place to stretch the legs in the Venice Beach area of LA. Along the sides of these canals there walking paths next to homes and small docks. Picturesque footbridges cross over the canals and connect them up for longer walks. It’s like stepping into a completely different city right in the heart of Venice Beach. You’ll love all the colors, textures, and backgrounds to choose from here, with delightful details popping out of every corner. Kayaks and canoes dot the canal lined with flowering trees and other tropical shrubbery. The pleasing geometry of the bridges lends a pretty element to feature in your pictures with the canal gently flowing beneath you.

E L MATAD OR BEAC H
El Matador Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches along the coast of California. The beach is a collection of 3 small cliff-foot beaches known as “pocket beaches and is most famous for its soft sand, large monoliths, sea caves and tide pools. As the waves come and go, you can walk around the rocks and see all sorts of fascinating things. Most of the rocks are covered in black mussels and even brightly colored red starfish hanging on at the bottom. There are also many seabirds and if you are fortunate, you may even see a dolphin off in the distance.

By using the light already exists around us we can create and sculpt images that have a natural feel to what our eyes are used to seeing every day whether we are aware or not.
