EDI TORS’ NOT E

Fashion matters. To the economy, to society and to each of us personally. Faster than anything else, what we wear tells the story of who we are – or who we want to be. Many people fail to appreciate just how important and wide-reaching it really is. Globally, the industry is valued at over $3 trillion. It’s the second biggest worldwide economic activity - employing over 57 million workers in developing countries, 80 per cent of whom are women. Fashion literally reflects every culture in the world.

2020 TRENDS SWIMWEAR GUIDE By: Kenzie Shultz Do you know how to choose swimwear online that will flatter your figure this coming summer? Here is a guide complete with actionable tips to help make you the total head-turner at the beach. For those with busty figures, moulded cups and swimwear that provides better support are for you. If you are the athletic type, then you should look for something that flaunts your frame. That means monokinis, bold prints, and a few embellishments. There is a huge emphasis on matching your swim apparel with your body type and personality. The idea is to accept who you are and get clothes to match the expression of your true self.

What Is Your Level Of Coverage? One of the things that you have to decide on this year is the level of coverage that your swimwear will provide. This year, it is about choice, your choice! You get to choose whether you want your beachwear to be more revealing —or not. More women this year are looking for more single piece options, but that does not mean two-piece swimsuits are out of fashion.

Bottom Options It is recommended that you shop for swimwear online that has more built-in support. Another trend is swimsuits that have a slightly looser fit. That means too tight, or skin-tight beach apparel may have to be shelved this year. Of course, looser fit clothing is meant to minimize the emphasis on the belly area. The fashion trends for 2020 deal with more sustainability, putting more value to your face and upper body than what can be seen from the waist below.

Cover-Ups On The Beach Speaking of coverage, you might want to shop for more beach cover-ups for your swimsuit. Elegance at the beach is a huge thing this year, but modesty is also something big in the air as well. Fashionistas are looking to add more lace to complement the sand and sea. They make you look glamorous both near the waves and also on a hammock near the pool. You are not going to be stuck with scarves on the sand this year.

Finally, Consider Your Body Type And True Self Well, it is not only about your body type. When you choose swimwear online, it should express who you truly are. That means clean skirted bottoms that fall below your upper leg. Remember that In 2020, there is a huge emphasis on matching your swim apparel with your body type and personality. The idea is to accept who you are and get clothes to match the expression of your true self.

2020 TRENDS POSITIVE VIBES ONLY By: Ivy Scarlett London Fashion Week unveiled a new wave of positive fashion a number of emerging ethical brands for the Autumn Winter 20 season. This February, brands came in full force taking sustainable fashion to new lengths, from up-cycling and deconstruction, to revamping and recycling. The season saw a heady mix of schedule regulars as well as up-and-coming stars – with a focus on sustainability. Check out a few of the sustainable brands that caught the eye this season.

Africa Hernandez Martinez Culture Clash Inspired by heritage, tradition and cultural customs, Africa Hernandez Martinez graduate of UCA Epsom, debuted a diverse collection of woven textiles and knitted fabrics at London Fashion Week’s ‘Positive Fashion Exhibition’ hosted by the BFC. Africa’s 6-piece collection incorporated a mixture of vintage and household fabrics sourced from car boot sales, and her family home. A champion of sustainable practises, this collection focuses on ethical production.

HAREM London Citizens Of The World HAREM London’s fresh take on streetwear presents a new style in genderless fashion that is versatile, minimal and comfortable in its aesthetic. The brand’s autumn winter capsule collection incorporates a variety of two-piece tracksuits, soft tailored trousers, cape style jackets and casual t-shirts. Each item of clothing is multi-functional and can be recycled.

Isabel Manns Inside Out Inspired by the rocky mountains of Costa Brava, Catalonia, Isabel Mann’s autumn winter collection blends expressive screen prints on high-end and recycled fabrics. Designed so that each item of clothing is reversible, garments are simplistic in design leaving magic in the colour pallet and fabrication. Silk satin, recycled wool and sustainable viscose work seamlessly to give the collection a timeless feel, while additional pops of colour pay homage to Isabel’s vibrant aesthetic.

UNDERAGE Rough Patch UNDERAGE presents its AW20 collection of second-hand items deconstructed and reworked into patchwork textiles, to create form fitting midi dresses, ankle length trousers and blazers. Debuting at London Fashion Week’s ‘Positive Fashion Exhibition’, the theme behind this collection was inspired by the futuristic landscapes of a conceptual world free from boundaries.

2020 TRENDS STYLISH SAFETY APPAREL By: Anthony Johnson Forget the machismo and the charisma! It has everything to do with the uniform. But truth be told, it’s got something to do with working in a dangerous environment. While there’s no science behind it, uniformed men, not necessarily in the military but firefighters, policemen, construction workers in full armor, bikers, and riggers, to mention but a few, often get the ladies to chase them. This goes both ways, ladies are especially way more attractive when in protective apparel. This means that regardless of your job title, you can still be stylish even in your protective work apparel. That said, here’s what to look for when selecting stylish safety apparel to protect yourself with.

Choosing The Right Size When choosing protective clothing, one thing should always stand out; a perfect fit! As much as fitting clothing is more stylish these days, it’s also a safety requirement in many workplaces that protective clothing should be a perfect fit. Loose aprons will only increase the risk of being caught in between moving objects. The best thing about having a fitting type of protective clothing is that they’ll also provide you with maximum support.

Selecting The Right Clothing Material There’s a good reason why fire fighting clothes are well, not 100% fireproof, but will protect the firefighter against direct glares. Depending on your work environment or activities, it’s important that you carefully select a clothing material that has everything you need to protect you against your specific workplace hazards.

Consider Quality And Durability You should never compromise the quality of your protective apparel for a lower price tag. Consider investing in protective clothing that is of the highest quality as they are made from high-quality fabrics. Quality safety apparel will last longer and will not be affected by immediate environmental factors. Another reason to consider high-quality protective apparel is that they come with a warranty from the manufacturer.

Apparel Design To remain stylish while in your protective apparel, you should select protective apparel that has been properly designed using the right materials. Just because you’re working in the construction industry should confine you to wearing ill-designed apparel. This will encourage you to don your apparel in style, at the proper time, and doing what you love best.

BONANZA PARIS Bonza Paris was established in 2018 by two friends, Justine and Chloeě, brought together for their love of jewelry and design. The concept: ostentatious jewels synonymous with assumed femininity! Born in the 90s, the two creators, Justine Valençon and Chloé Bechini are inspired by the symbols and primitive messages of the jewels to better emancipate them. The jewelry design is somewhat special as it merges timeless pearls and gold, for a line that you can’t help but want (and we want all of it)! Future heirlooms in the making, their collections are made with women in mind, with all their facets and beauty at the forefront of their inspiration, letting their jewelry complement.

DESIGNER DISCOVERY

How did you find yourself in the jewelry industry? We started it with intuition and determination! We always had this desire to undertake and when we met for the first time a connection has been made between us and materialized in the creation of Bonanza Paris in March 2018.

What does jewelry mean to you?

Impressively, Justine and ChloeÄ› are selling in the best stores across the country of France, and for those further afield, do not worry, you can also purchase the beautiful pieces from their website and other retailers. We did a brief interview with Justine and ChloeÄ› to explore their background in jewelry, favorite inspirations and plans for the future.

Jewels are for us a timeless accessory that we wanted to transmit from generation to generation as the jewels of our mothers and grandmothers that inspires us every day. Bonanza Paris is a way to share our story and our passions through an accessory that is dear to us. This relation to time and this idea of timelessness totally match to our DNA, a jewel should be precious and should have a story.

“

We took the time to choose a workshop that also shares our commitments: ecology, respect, and naturalness. Being in this movement helps present quality and meaningful creations.

DESIGNER DISCOVERY

When did you start designing products? Freshman year I did a design for another brand. Summer 2013 going into junior year, I launched my 1st brand “Entertaining The Angels” on my birthday.

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Pastel Swade is taking Angel Arcade to new heights with more collections, unisex options, and reversable apparel to compliment anyone’s everyday style. We did a brief interview with Pastel regarding his upbringing, getting into fashion, as well as a day in the life of a multi-skilled creative.

I have no formal training and I taught myself how to use photoshop. So, I could make vectors to send to manufacturers.

What’s a typical day like? Going back and forth with manufacturers to get pieces made, making designs for future drops, and making beats. I’m doing one or multiple of these things everyday.

Just do it, but pay attention and study. The clothes don’t make the man. The man makes the clothes.
