deal of experience and a sense of calm! Helping Ty on the bench, we would like to welcome back Thomas Skelton and Andy McIntyre back for another season. These two men bring a great deal of knowledge and enthusiasm to our team and complement the bench. New this season is Lisa Skelton helping as trainer along with Kayla Boger. We are very grateful for the talent and expertise these ladies bring to our team. As things are moving forward with the Fernie Ghostriders we are so happy to have the non profit groups helping with the concession, security and beverage room, a huge win for both of us and they all do such a great job! Cannot say enough about the wonderful volunteers we have, assisting the board members with so many tasks at each of our games, always smiling and happy to be there! We are so fortunate! Meet the Ghostrider’s new coach
ff season changes for the Fernie Ghostriders brings Ty Valin to the Ghostriders organization as Head Coach/GM. Valin spent last season with the Whitecourt Wolverines of the AJHL and prior to that was the Head Coach of the Fort Saskatchewan U18 AAA Rangers for 3 seasons. Preceding his time with the Rangers, Valin was an AC with the NAIT Ooks Men’s team of the Alberta Colligate Athletic Conference in Alberta Valin, who now calls Fernie home has loved his time in Fernie so far and is excited to have the opportunity to work with the Ghostriders organization. Valin says, “having the opportunity to work with amazing people like Barb Anderson, Jonny Levesque and Thomas Skelton has made the transition seamless”. Thomas Skelton (assistant coach/ GM) and Andy MacIntyre (assistant coach) will bring a wealth of knowledge to the team as well this season behind the bench with Valin. The Ghostriders kick off the season on the road with games in Creston on October 1st and then in Nelson on October 2nd. The new look Ghostriders will feature 11 returning players and 5 local Fernie residents, 1 Cranbrook local and 1 from Kimberley as well. The team has complied a 4-1-1 record through the exhibition season and are now looking forward to getting the regular season going and welcoming the Fernie faithful, best fans in the league, back into the Memorial Arena come Oct 7 vs the Nelson Leafs at 7:30pm.
Good Luck
for each season, our boys are so fortunate to have good homes to call home for the season! It is comforting for their parents to know their sons are taken care of and are safe while away from home! The team would not be able to exist if it wasn’t for our sponsors, who support us through the season! The support we receive is second to none! Along with the fans, we have the best and loudest fans in the league! As you can see, it truly takes a community of dedicated people to operate a Junior Hockey team! With such a rich history of Hockey in Fernie and the Elk Valley, it is rewarding for our committed volunteers to continue this rich history! Thank you to everyone for all your support and enjoy the Hockey Season, we guarantee you, it will be fun to watch these boys this season! Barb Anderson, President Fernie Ghostriders
