Shots Fired Near Gulfport Senior Center

Shots were fired near downtown Gulfport Monday afternoon, February 1. Details remain unclear, but here’s what we know so far.

Someone from the Gulfport Senior Center called 911 to report gunshots around 1 p.m.

At 1:42 p.m. on Monday, Gulfport Police posted this to their Facebook page: “We are investigating a shooting situation that occurred at 1:03 PM at the Gulfport Library.

Vehicles fled after exchanging gunfire in the parking lot.

We need you to vote.

I know, I know. You just heard this on a national level. The last election probably exhausted you (if you follow me on Twitter you know I was) and maybe you aren’t ready for local politics just yet. Maybe you get passionate about senate races but can’t muster the energy to decide who’s best suited to make sure the sewers get fixed in a timely fashion. Possibly you look at local elections and decide choosing between candidates is like choosing between typhoid and tuberculosis.

Nevertheless, we need you to care.

We have five candidates vying for two seats on city council. Take a long, hard look at each of them and ask yourself: Which one would you want with the nuclear codes?

I joke, of course. Mostly; Joe Biden did serve on the New Castle County Commission.

Small-town politicians not only have the most power over your daily life, they also go on to become regional politicians who could become state politicians, who become… well, you get the idea. Small politics can turn into big politics, and voters in cities like Gulfport choose those leaders.

So, who gets your vote?

Before we bought the paper, I covered South Pinellas elections for several years. Let me tell you, if you thought reading about elections and trying to make decisions tired you out, try covering them. Along the way, I muttered to myself a lot about how I would cover the elections if I ran the circus.

Well, now I do run the circus, and we’ve made some changes to how we handle local elections. Before, we ran three articles every cycle; now, we cover things as we find need, and, this year,

we’ll have candidate coverage every week until the election. Also for the first time ever, we have recruited a Citizen Election Board to interview candidates and make a recommendation about who they think would best serve our city.

We will also, in partnership with Gulfport Merchants Chamber of Commerce, host candidate debates.

Why the chamber? Because while the council answers to the voters, decisions it makes about what businesses can do in our parks, on our streets, and with special events impact our lives as residents. Furthermore, a bad council can make decisions that hurt our local economy.

City council responsibilities in Gulfport are holistic, too: our mayor makes $14,400 a year and the other council members make $10,800.

Council, based on how much we the voters agree to pay them, is a part-time job, but we expect them to treat it as a full-time one.

I not only see that expectation in other voters, I have it myself, even if it means sometimes the bestqualified politicians choose not to run because who would take a fulltime job for poverty wages?

Those who are called.

At every level, public service is a calling and those who feel moved to serve shouldn’t do it for the money.

They should do it because they love their city.

So we ask you, over the coming weeks, to read our coverage. Watch or attend the debate. Email us your questions for the candidates. Then all you have to do is one last thing: Cast your vote.

announcements Gulfport Debates!

On February 11, the Gabber, in partnership with the Gulfport Merchants Chamber of Commerce, will host candidate debates at the Catherine Hickman Theater. We encourage all voters and those impacted by the actions of Gulfport City Council to attend, either in person or via Zoom.

The debate, moderated by GMC Vice President Brittney Sherley and Gabber publisher Cathy Salustri Loper, will include questions from the chamber, Gabber readers and staff, and Gulfport voters. Candidates will deliver an opening statement, answer general and candidate-specific questions, debate each other on two specific issues, and offer a closing statement.

After the debate, the Gabber’s Citizen Election Board (who will have already interviewed the candidates individually) will release the paper’s official candidate recommendation to voters.

The debate will follow City of Gulfport’s COVID-19 safety protocols.

Because of that, theater will seat at least 35 people, although because of families and quarantine bubbles that get advance tickets and require less social distancing, more seats may be available. The doors open at 5 p.m. for ticket holders, and ticket holders must check in by 5:30 p.m. to claim their seats. At 5:30 p.m., we will open the doors to anyone without a ticket.

news Vaccine Fears and Frustrations: Locals Say It’s Worth It

In December the state opened up COVID-19 vaccination for frontline healthcare workers, long-term care facility residents and staff, and seniors.

Florida is home to 4.5 million people aged 65 and older and, with seniors making up 80 percent of COVID-19 related deaths, it’s no surprise that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made this group a priority.

As of January 30, 75,272 residents have been vaccinated in Pinellas, according to the county website. With much-publicized website crashes and vaccine shortages, for many, getting the vaccine has been a story of persistence.

However, even with positive cases over 1.7 million and COVID deaths nearing 27,000 in the state, for some, the fear of the vaccine is worse than the disease.

Close to Home, Side-Effect Free St. Petersburg senior Elizabeth Reed struggled with making an appointment through the online portal when she first attempted on January 4, but with persistence and the help of a friend, she got through in mid-January, received her first shot and is side-effect free.

“The entire website crashed within a minute. It was frustrating to say the least,” Reed said. “But stick it out. It was painless and now I feel like I’ve won the lottery.”

Reed, like many seniors, received the vaccine at USF Health Morsani Center for Advanced Health Care in Tampa. There are four vaccination sites in Pinellas, and after users successfully register, they receive location details.

“Once you get through, it’s like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow,” Reed said. “I had a little soreness in my shoulder the night after, but that was it.”

Following the technical difficulties on the Pinellas Department of Health website, the CDR Maguire: Health & Medical portal was created, allowing for a much smoother registration process.

The state requires those with appointments to bring a proof of residency as well as a vaccination confirmation they receive virtually.

“Some people do have reactions, but most people really don’t,” Wampler said. “It’s worth it, and the entire process is so clean and organized – they did a really good job keeping everyone distanced and sterile at the USF campus.”

How it Works According to the Pinellas County Website, all vaccine appointment slots are currently filled – a familiar story for those who have been trying to get an appointment for weeks.

Nonetheless, residents who fit the criteria should make an account to “ease future scheduling.”

Once you create an account, it’s a waiting game to sign up for a vaccination, with appointments opening as more vaccines become available. Pinellas County sends out regular alerts when appointments will be available. There is also no rule that says Pinellas residents must vaccinate in Pinellas, and some have

found better luck in other counties.

Persistence, Reed says, is key.

“This is a two step process – a lot of people don’t know that,” Reed said.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are only effective in a two-dose shot, with the injections scheduled within 21 days of each other. Patients receive a second vaccine date following their first injection.

According to University of Florida Health, “When you receive the vaccine, your immune system starts to ward off COVID-19. This can cause some side effects. The majority of patients have had mild side effects.”

While some side effects may be uncomfortable, UFH notes that “skipping the second dose will greatly reduce your protection from COVID-19.”

Anyone with concerns about getting the vaccine may want to consult their doctor prior to their appointment.

This Drive Brings All the Books to the Yard

Valerie Welch, the treasurer of the Circle of Friends of the Gulfport Library, manned a table in front of the library on January 30 to collect boxes of books – donations that will help to stock the bookshop and contribute funds to the library.

“Pre-COVID, people could drop off their books any old time, but we haven’t been able to do that. So in December we started with a couple of book drives. So we do a drive by donation, two box limit,” Welch said.

This book drive produced the greatest donations yet, with 50 boxes and bags of books. Bookshop staff will now sort the books, price them and put them out for sale.

Gulfport gathers

“The library is really a wonderful community center, and now that there are more snowbirds here, you know, we’re selling a lot more books,” Welch told the Gabber.

Valerie Welch and Phyllis Rosenblum are in charge of the Circle of Friends bookstore inside the front of the library. Welch said there are around 60 active members in the Circle of Friends and are always looking for more interested members.

“It’s been really hard for us, but we meet once a month and we’re doing Zoom meetings just to keep the energy going, and that’s why I designed this book drive,” Welch said. “So that we could just keep energy for interest in the library.”

Sunflowers for Suki

Largo resident Neal Desch doles out sunflowers to strangers in honor of his late soul mate, Suki Kaur. Kaur passed away in December 2019 due to complications from an asthma attack and Desch decided to honor her by giving back.

Kaur’s favorite flower was the sunflower, the state flower of Kansas, where she was born. According to Desch, his goal is to give out 10,000 sunflowers to lucky strangers.

He gave away his first sunflower in June of 2020, and on Tuesday, January 26, at the Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market, he gave away the 4,000th flower to a girl named Kylie. “My greatest joy is to give [them] to the kids,� Desch said.

His mission is to put smiles on faces and honor Kaur in a way she would love. Desch credits his success to his green thumb and appreciates feedback that the flowers are blooming and bringing happiness to their recipients. “I know that Suki would be very happy,� Desch said.

Desch purchases all of his seeds from Kansas and relies solely on donations to neutralize the cost of the project.

Desch sets up his sunflower stand at the Gulfport Tuesday Fresh Market and in front of Christy’s Enchanted Notions in St. Petersburg on the weekends.

Why’d it have to be Sweets?

that section of the road with yellow tape and police cruisers. The Gulfport Library parking lot remained open and in use early Monday afternoon.

Gulfport Police scanned the area for evidence while a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation unit used a metal detector to hunt for more bullet casings. The road and adjacent greenspace were dotted with yellow evidence markers showing the locations of at least 12 9mm bullet casings, according to Gulfport Police Sergeant Michael Vandenberg, as well as other pieces of evidence, including a red hat.

At the scene, Vandenberg explained that the investigation was still in early stages, with police working to figure out exactly what happened.

“We don’t know if it was drug related, road rage or what,” Vandenberg said.

Vandenberg told the Gabber that city cameras showed a man sitting in a white sedan in the nearby Gulfport Library parking lot before 1 p.m.

According to police, the video shows the man leaving his car and walking toward two other vehicles on Beach Boulevard – a dark pickup truck and a silver sedan, according to Vandenberg.

Shortly after, shots were fired, however, according to Vandenberg, the scene was out of camera range and it was not clear who fired the weapon, or how many weapons were involved.

Vandenberg noted that the man who walked over from the library may not have fired a weapon, as he fled when the shots began.

The incident was, Vandenberg said, “definitely out of the ordinary.”

According to Vincent, the vehicle struck in the altercation was a gray or silver two-door with temporary plates; the other vehicle in the dispute was a brown SUV. “We’re looking for a gray vehicle with bullet holes in the driver side door,” Vincent said.

After reviewing security footage from the Gulfport Senior Center, police confirmed both vehicles immediately fled the scene following the incident.

“We are checking to see if there

is additional security footage in the area,” Vincent said. “We are also investigating nearby hospitals to see if there are any gunshot injuries.”

Currently there are no reported injuries or known suspects in this case. As of press time, the Gulfport Police Department has not issued an official press release on the incident, and the investigation continues.

Seven New Visions for Trop Site Development The Tropicana Field site, 86 acres in the heart of St. Petersburg, will undergo a potentially $3 billion redevelopment in the next few years.

The city will sift through seven potential development plans with a mix of recreational, commercial and residential blueprints.

Each proposal has two plans, with and without a stadium.

“When you see these submissions, I think you’ll quickly realize that the future has never been brighter,” St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman told press on Tuesday, January 26.

This will take months of Kriseman’s team weighing the pros and cons of each possibility before his administration, which ends in January of 2022, even completes a shortlist.

JMA Ventures and Sugar Hill Community Partners With a mix of east and west coast ideas, the San-Francisco based JMA Ventures and the New York anchored Sugar Hill Company have the priciest proposal, capped at $3 billion.

Most notably, the developers aim to design a widened Booker Creek, with an “urban beach” and expanded 11-acre park area.

Along with a convention center and hotel, JMA Ventures and Sugar Hill Community Partners plan to work on a deal for a University of South Florida affiliated marine technology campus, AltaSea.

TRS Development Services, Ryan Companies and Brennan Investment Group Three partnered firms aim to create “Rome Yard,” a development that would cost $475 million.

A hotel, childcare facility, green space, retail center and more would not be completed until 2037, the proposal reads.

Midtown Development Miami-based Midtown Development plans to coin the St. Petersburg space “Creekside,” and develop residential areas around Booker Creek.

Twenty percent of Midtown Development’s housing will be affordable units.

“Midtown assumes an active role in curating the community, building neighborhoods and enabling others to shape on-site and adjacent – in line with a vision for walkable, connected communities,” the proposal reads.

Wendover Housing Partner In contrast, Altamonte Springsbased Wendover Housing Partners will dedicate 60 percent of their

residential development to affordable, family housing.

St. Petersburg residents, particularly those in historically Black neighborhoods, would get first consideration for leasing.

A technical school is also in the works in Wendover’s plans.

SROA Capital, Holabird and Root and ARGO These three firms have come together to create an idea that will flourish around “canal communities,” which will feature Booker Creak as well as man-made water spaces.

“Along the edges of the canals residences, workplaces, and areas of entertainment that both support the immediate community, but also are attractive features to visitors to the site,” the proposals reads.

Next Steps The development will move forward in the shadow of the historic Gas Plant District, one of St. Petersburg’s historically Black communities, which was torn down and displaced to make room for the original stadium in the 80s.

“This is a generational project that will beautifully honor the history that is here,” Deputy Mayor Dr. Kanika Tomalin said at the January 26 press conference.

According to Delisle, the city will hire a firm to assess the history behind the site, including the historically Black cemetery that was bulldozed over in the creation of the stadium.

“We’re looking into the facts and history before we move forward,” Delisle said. “We still have a long way to go.

Ospreys: Local Raptors that Thrive

It sounds like a whistling kettle. A piping call that sends my eyes to the skyline, searching for the watchful guardian of the shoreline: the osprey.

These sleek raptors, cousins to the bald eagle, can be seen all over Gulfport, loafing (yes, that is the scientific term) at the tops of trees, lamp posts, or even ships’ masts, slicing through the air with a cargo of fish (their primary food), or, during their breeding season (December-February), transporting sticks, moss or even netting to their nesting sites.

Though they are common, we should not take them for granted. As Beth Forys, Professor of Biology at Eckerd College, recently reminded me, it is rather unusual, and rather cool, to have so large a bird of prey living successfully in our midst.

Ospreys are built for fishing: plunging into water at up to 30 miles per hour, they can lower a goggle-like eyelid and seal their nostrils for complete submersion. As they ascend, they

reverse their outer toes to position their catches aerodynamically headfirst.

They can forage in both salt and fresh water, allowing them to try new fishing grounds, such as retention ponds, when algal blooms threaten other fish-eating birds. And that dark eyeline they sport?

No known purpose, but doesn’t it look just like a racing stripe?

Ospreys’ most extraordinary adaptation is their willingness to nest in a variety of places, from dead trees, to utility poles, to chimneys and buoys. This is a key reason that osprey populations, unlike many raptors across the globe, are on the rise. This also leads to the occasional human-wildlife conflict. Forys recalled one season when ospreys began to nest in the outdoor lights at the campus ballfield, making it difficult to maintain the lights. Tampa Bay Raptor Rescue helped to solve the problem by installing nesting platforms above the lights. Now everyone can enjoy the game.

Ospreys, like Gulfportians, know a good place once they’ve found it.

They will return for many years to a successful nesting site. Over the seasons, these somewhat disheveled domiciles can grow three to six feet wide. Following a nest during breeding season is a great way to get to know our remarkable feathered neighbors.

In a Year of Challenges, Senior Center Foundation Looks Ahead The Gulfport Multipurpose Senior Center Foundation canceled and postponed several events in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID, however new president Ron Coyne says he is determined to engage the community and grow involvement.

Coyne served on the Senior Center Foundation board for two and a half years before deciding to take up the presidential position for 2021.

“We survive because of donations and events we put on for the public based on nominal fees,” Coyne said of the foundation, a nonprofit that exists solely to raise money for and support Gulfport’s Senior Center.

“Last year and this year are becoming real problems; people are nervous about going into open air facilities.

Numbers are diminishing because of that – can’t blame them.”

Members who normally would attend these events are staying home for safety, or do not have the financial means to attend, Coyne said.

It hasn’t been all negative. To combat the financial distress and keep the community involved, the

do the same thing. Because we know how that works and we know how that doesn’t work.”

The Senior Center is able to operate because of the city and the Senior Center Foundation. Founded in 2003, the foundation raises money for the Center through events and donations, and the board is 100 percent volunteerbased.

In 2020 the foundation donated exercise equipment to the Center, but is struggling to keep afloat this year.

“I wouldn’t look at it as a handicap, but it’s something we have to consider,” Coyne told the Gabber.

One of Coyne’s main interests is keeping the food pantry stocked, especially with COVID placing a financial strain on the community. The food pantry, located in the Senior Center, provides food to seniors in need.

“The community in Gulfport really came to bat,” past Senior Center Foundation President Jennifer Terrana said of donations for the food pantry.

“The response was absolutely phenomenal.”

The Gulfport Lions Club collects money to keep up food pantry supplies, but the Center also accepts donations. Coyne hopes this will continue to be a priority for the community. People can also donate money to the foundation directly at gulfportseniorfoundation.org/ support-us.

“In our mind, the Senior Center is a shining light for the city,” Coyne said.

Gulfport Raises Flag in Honor of Black History Month

The Pan-African flag will fly high through February at the Gulfport Public Library in commemoration of Black History Month.

The red, green and black flag – known as the Pan-African flag and symbolizing Black liberation – was officially raised by city staff on Monday, February 1. The city filmed a video of the flag-raising on Friday, January 28.

“We urge all of our residents here in Gulfport to participate in this observance as we honor the achievements of African Americans and continue the responsibility to strive for equality for all people,” Gulfport Mayor Sam Henderson said.

Henderson, Councilmember Paul Ray, Pinellas County Commissioner Ken Welch and Pinellas County School Board Member Caprice Edmond attended and spoke on the significance of Black History Month on Friday.

“In this country Black Americans have contributed so much, and this month is about recognizing those contributions,” Welch said.

A Sweet Sixteen Parade

Haley Wyble, vice chair of Gulfport’s Teen Council, with Gulfport Councilmember Paul Ray, got a sweet celebration for her 16th birthday.

Most teenagers celebrate their 16th birthday with a gathering of friends and family, but for one teen council member, things were a little different. Haley Wyble, vice chair of Gulfport’s Teen Council, turned 16 on January 25 and was greeted by the police department, the fire department and EMTs in a drive-by extravaganza.

“It was really nice for the city – the fire department, the police department and everybody to come out and honor one of our kids that are doing really well in the community,” Gulfport City Councilmember Paul Ray said.

The teen council is a volunteer organization that assists with projects that benefit the city. The program serves as a stepping stone for kids to learn leadership qualities and skills, according to Ray. “A lot of what they do is represent. They get involved in some events. They’ll be working with us, as a matter of fact, on the rain garden that we’re putting in along the shore, on the corner of Shore and 58th downtown, by the Rec Center,” Ray said.

Local officers blasted sirens and honked their horns to alert neighbors and community members of Haley’s celebration. Her parents also decorated the front of her house with Happy 16th birthday signs.

“She was really kind of startled cause she had no idea it was coming,” Ray said.

The parade celebration was socially distanced and lasted around 20 minutes. The officials were trailed by local cars of well-wishers who shouted congratulations from their windows.

“It was definitely uplifting for a lot of people,” Ray said.

food Creative Cheesemonger Brings Charcuterie to Gulfperk It’s rare to find someone who is smitten with their job, but Chef Matt Bonano is ecstatic about his culinary work at Gulfperk Coffee Bar. As the evening manager, he runs Gulfperk After Dark, where he composes charcuterie and wine offerings Thursday through Saturday evenings that are colorfully fresh and deceptively filling.

The New York cheesemonger is the original owner of St. Petersburg eatery, Brooklyn South – a on Central Avenue known for its massive sandwiches packed with fresh meats and cheeses. After a brief hiatus, Matt is back in the kitchen pairing a variety of cured meats and artisan cheeses to order right here on Beach Boulevard.

Chef Matt wakes up excited to go to work. He has a corner nook inside Gulfperk where he makes gastronomic magic come to life on a slate serving board. He loves food but he adores cheese. His eyes lit up and he literally bounced around, giddy when I asked him to explain the different ingredients he works with and what he creates for his guests.

Working on a four-foot cold prep table, Matt explains that he’s started with a modest menu to highlight seasonal ingredients and see which products are the most popular among Gulfperk’s customers. Currently, he features three cured meats for his boards: coppa, prosciutto di Parma and pate de Champagne, imported from the award-winning Les Trois Petits Cochons in Brooklyn. He has a wider variety of cheeses that he patiently helps me spell as I sample.

as well as a petite chunk of Shellen Bell, a raw cow’s milk cheese aged for months in Alpine caves.

A longstanding Judging and Competition committee member of the American Cheese Society, Chef Matt knows nearly everything about cheese. But what few may realize is that Matt also makes many of the artistic accoutrements on his whimsical charcuterie boards.

His signature cranberry relish is nothing like the canned jelly consumed on Thanksgiving, but rather a sweet and tangy balance of cranberries and spicy chilies, (hand-picked from the chef’s own backyard garden). Matt selects a pickled watermelon radish from the cold line that is cherry KoolAid red and he folds and twists the radish into an edible rose that bursts with tart crunch. But his favorite bite right now is his pickled papaya, seasoned with an Asian-inspired twist but with warm winter flavors, perfect for February in Florida.

Chef Matt composes a charcuterie board like he is throwing clay or conducting an orchestra - with easy flow and delicate attention to detail.

Chef Matt says he intends to have a growing selection of meats and cheeses on deck and he wants to create a tapas menu. In addition to featuring more American cheese artisans, wine pairings could also be on the horizon. And one of Matt’s ongoing projects is making online videos about – you guessed it – cheese!

A Potter’s Tradition: Charlie Parker Molds His Apprentice

“If it feels good, then you’re done,” Parker said on his secret to success. “There’s no formula to it.”

An unlikely pair, Charlie Parker, 68, and Kayla Harbeitner, 29, maneuver through bowls and mugs in various states of finish.

It’s the Charlie Parker Pottery Studio, yet it’s Harbeitner, Parker’s artist in residence, who leads classes and adds the finishing touches to the planters that line the dusty workbench.

“This is it – this is what I strived for for the last 50 years,” Parker said. “So I’ve taken someone in to teach, and

quite frankly become a better potter than me, and she will eventually continue my work.”

That someone is Harbeitner, a millenial with a degree in computer animation from the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota. She didn’t think she’d end up here, but three years in, she’s continuing in Parker’s footsteps.

“What the goal is for any artist is to make a living doing what they love,” Parker said. “I want her to do more

than make a living – I want her to make a living while becoming a wellknown artist.”

The Beginning of a Legacy It was 1967, and 14-year-old Parker was living in the Midwest when he joined his best friend’s uncle’s business, the Minnesota Clay Company.

It started as weekend work to make money, but Parker never stopped

Molding the New Parker’s work, matter-of-fact and functional, is a stark contrast to the design-focused pieces of Harbeitner’s practice.

Nearly half his age, the artist in residence first walked into the studio at 22 years old. Harbeitner’s mother was taking classes, and Parker noticed she had a knack for the art form.

“I always liked working with the wheel; I took a few classes in high school,” Harbeitner said while painting a pot. “I like the modeling aspect of this.”

The young artist went through a move to Texas and back before coming back home and buying a house.

“When her mother told me she was moving back, I immediately wanted her to come work with me,” Parker said. “When she agreed I said ‘Hell yeah.”

“It’s a feeling,” Parker said. “You take this pile of mush, of nothing, and make something beautiful.”

Parker moved to sunny St. Petersburg at 25 years old, where he worked with partners to create the St. Petersburg Clay Company.

In 2010, he founded his own space, the Charlie Parker Pottery Studio, and for a wink of time the studio lived on Central Avenue.

Now, Parker’s studio is nestled in the Warehouse District.

That was that, and for the last three years, Harbeitner has molded alongside Parker, created her own style and is now leading the majority of pottery classes in the studio.

“Honestly, I’m really happy life led me here,” Harbeitner said. “It’s not what I expected, but I’m happy with it.”

Gulfport Fine Arts Festival: A Safe Space for Art In spite of the challenges this year, Gulfport Fine Arts Festival organizers are determined to go on with the show while still ensuring a healthy and responsible environment for artists and attendees.

“So many larger art shows are canceling, but we’re taking the necessary steps to continue on,” said Brenda McMahon, head of the Gulfport Merchant Chamber arts committee. “We’re a small show and sometimes overlooked, so we’re really getting the best of the arts community this year.”

The festival will take place on the waterfront at Veteran’s Park from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, February 13 and Sunday, February 14.

Up to 40 artists from Gulfport and elsewhere will show their work at the two-day event.

According to McMahon, the festival has hosted more than 60 artists in previous years.

“I’ve just got to say, what we have this year is extremely impressive,” said festival juror and artist Jack Providenti.

“I mean it always is, but I’ve seen what we have and the standards are high.”

The park will have handwashing stations throughout Veteran’s Park, booths will be a minimum of 10 feet apart and masks are required with no exceptions.

“Everyone is spaced appropriately,” McMahon said “We have some brand new faces and some great fresh work.”

The boutique art show will feature a mix of 2D paintings, ceramics, photography, jewelry and other media.
