Taverna On the Bay
Advertisement
Taverna On the Bay schedules to open in the popular spot across from the Tradewinds Island Resort on St. Pete Beach.
It is the former home of Caddy’s and if you’re old enough to remember, Silas Dent’s.
Even though Taverna On the Bay fronts on Gulf Boulevard, it backs on Boca Ciega Bay, hence the name.
It features Mediterranean specialties, hinting at Greek dishes, and of course, seafood.
While in the same plaza as Beach Zone and Sunshine City Comedy Club, keep an eye out for this new restaurant opening soon.

Fish Kids Seawall Tournament
The Fish Kids Seawall Tournament of Madeira Beach runs from 10 a.m.3 p.m. on Aug. 5 at ROC park.
Angler Armory hosts this catch and release tournament that encourages kids ages 3-16 years to have fun fishing. Participants must fish from designated areas, which means no fishing off of boats or kayaks. Do not bring any special bait rigs.
Points are given based on each species caught.
Bring an unwrapped toy and non-perishable food item for donation to benefit Santa’s Angels. There will be a free raffle, vendors, food, and drinks.
Awards will be given at the end of the tournament. Check out rules and register your kids online at anglerarmory.com.

Beloved on the North Shore of Massachusetts for the past 72 years, Kelly’s Roast Beef now expands into Florida.
The sandwich business opened their first Florida location in 2022 in Brandenton. Kelly’s now opens a new location in South Pasadena, right next to the Orange Groves Winery.
They are famous for their legendary medium-rare roast beef sandwiches, New England clam chowder, lobster rolls, and fresh seafood platters.
Kelly’s also serves up those rare Atlantic cold-water specialties such as whole-belly fried clams.

For nearly 30 years, Shaner’s Land & Sea Market served the folks from Pass-a-Grille and St. Pete Beach. They were especially proud to be there during the pandemic when their service was the most valuable.
This combination of a butcher shop, seafood market, and carry-out store now operates with new owners. While you still may see the previous owners Michael and Mike Shaner around, Nasa Chami and her husband are the owners now.
Her plans to carry the store in similar ways to Shaner’s. However, the plan includes adding new items to the business.

“The store will be going through renovation to accommodate new areas like a bakery and coffee bar, craft beer, and more,” she said.
Chami compared the new store concept to Mazzaro’s. They will have deli sandwiches, pizza, mediterranean specialties, homemade hummus, and more regional delicacies.
The hours will expand to 8 a.m.11 p.m. This will allow room for more pick-up and delivery orders.
