Handmade collectable birds, made in the U.K. with bespoke commissions available. Felting For England was born from a passion for illustrations and a love of bringing them to life in a 3D form. With a degree in textiles, and 10 years making jewellery a curiosity in sculpture using wool was born. The joy of starting on a brand new bird species, and seeing it’s character come to life, just has to be shared, and enjoyed by many. The felting needle was invented for industrial use; to enhance and expand the felting process so that synthetic and plant fibres could be felted. The first needle loom produced on a commercial basis came from the Bi-Water Compnay of Leeds, England in about 1866. But not until the late 1950’s did the needle punching industry start to expand with companies utilizing fiburous waste.

Handmade luxurious knitwear and textiles. Jane Withers is a knitted textile artist/maker, developing contemporary fabrics with traditional techniques using hand and industrial knitting machines. After graduating from Nottingham Trent University in 1995 with a first class Knitwear degree she worked in design studios for knitted textile companies and in 2003 began a textile practice at home and developed a range of contemporary knitted fabrics using domestic knitting

â&#x17E;&#x160; â&#x17E;&#x2039;

machines and subsequently, Janie Knitted Textiles was established in 2005 with her partner Michael Hanmer. In their studio at Welbeck, they hand make knitted products for interiors and fashion together with a lighting range, commissions from individuals and collaborations with interior designers. The creative work in their practice is a direct response to environmental colours, textures and sustainable materials. They enjoy developing concepts and ideas challenging conventions in knitted textiles and champion the use of British wool and suppliers.

Made by hand, one at a time, every piece unique. Julie Fountain is the artist behind Beach Art Glass. She personally creates every item of jewellery and homeware in her Malvern studio. Each Beach Art Glass piece starts with the handmade glass bead, which Julie creates by melting simple rods of glass in a flame, combining the colours of sand and sea, creating the shapes using heat and gravity, and finishing with intricate glass details and a touch of fine silver. Whilst every bead in the range is clearly redolent of the seashore, and evoking seaside memories from both at home and abroad, Julie’s designs are highly influenced by the glass itself – the colours and patterns, textures and shapes.
