R E C I P E

• Wormwood Tea • 1. Place teaspoon of dried wormwood leaves in a cup. Pour one cup of hot water over the leaves. Use no more than one teaspoon of the leaves as they are very strong and bitter.

Mix the wormwood tea with another herbal tea, such as peppermint or anise tea, to reduce bitterness. You can steep the leaves in hot or boiling prepared herbal tea.

2. Let the tea mixture steep for several minutes. You may want to drink wormwood tea after meals, since it will be more easily absorbed and digested on a full stomach.

Tip: You can use wormwood tea in several external ways. You can disinfect wounds and cuts with the tea and it may be used as an insecticide.

•55•

•56•

Warning: Be careful not to overuse wormwood as it can be poisonous in sustained amounts. The toxicity of wormwood lies primarily in the essential oil

- very little of which is in the tea leaves. Wormwood is not legal everywhere, so make sure that you are legally permitted to use this herb.

The dew which falls in Autumn when the Northern Lights flame in the sky is said to heal the fear of darkness, loneliness, and colour blindness. Dew collected from the leaves of Lady’s Mantle is the most powerful. A patient who fears darkness is given three drops at midnight for three consecutive Thursdays. For loneliness, the same dose is given at the same time on three consecutive Fridays. Swedish witch, 19th century

S

If a disease is caused by a spirit of nature blowing their breath against a person, the cure is to blow back through nine hollow nettle stalks. Repeat the following with each breath blown, once for each nettle stalk: ´I blow in the east, I blow in the west, I blow in the south, I blow in the north, I blow in the air, I blow in the water, I blow in the earth, I blow in the light, I blow for the night, I blow forever all disease away.´
