The birth of Jesus (Luke 1 & 2) How do you feel when you have to wait for something for a long time? Perhaps for the end of a long journey, or for your birthday. God’s people had been waiting for something for a long time. A VERY long time… God had promised a special King. Someone who would be King for ever and ever. Years and years went by. God’s people waited and waited and waited. But God knew just the right moment. And now… it had come. God sent an angel to give an important message to an ordinary woman. Her name was Mary. "God is so kind!" the angel said. "He will give you a special job in his amazing plans! You don’t need to be frightened. You are going to have a VERY special baby. You must call him Jesus (which means, "God rescues"). He will be the most special baby ever to have been born.
Christmas cupcakes God’s promised Forever-King and Rescuer has arrived. Let’s celebrate the birth of Jesus!
He is God’s chosen Forever-King. He is God’s own Son!" WOW. "I want to serve God", Mary replied. She felt so happy and excited that she sang a song. "How great God is!" she sang. "La la la!" Mary travelled with her husband, Joseph, to a tiny little town called Bethlehem. They looked for somewhere to stay. Knock knock! No room there. They tried again. Knock knock! No room there either. So they had to stay in a stable. A barn meant for animals, not people! And in that not very special place, the very special baby was born. God’s most precious gift. The gift of his one and only Son. Jesus.
Pray: Lord God, thank yo
u that you are SO kind that you gave such a specia l, precious gift. You gave your Son, Jesus. Help us to love him more than an y other present w e might be given. Amen.
