OUR VOLUNTEERS The Grand has over 200 volunteers who work behind the scenes to help ensure that you have the best experience. Whether it is taking tickets at the door, showing you to your seat, greeting you in the Great Hall, or even just offering a smile, our volunteers are here to lend a helping hand. Volunteers play such an important role in our organization. We would like to thank all the men and women who donate their time. We wouldn’t be The Grand without them! ABOUT US The Grand Theater is a beautiful Grecian-revival structure that represents a truly “grand” era for performing arts. Located on the 400 Block, The Grand Theater has been a historic icon of Downtown Wausau for almost a hundred years. Opening Thanksgiving Day in 1927, the theater has made Wausau a stop on the theatrical circuit. Today, The Grand has continued to hold true to tradition, offering a season full of entertainment. The Grand Theater presents an incredible variety of performances, including Broadway shows, concerts, comedy, dance, and family programs. Some may know us for our iconic building, and others may know us for the shows we present; however, The Grand is much more than just a theater. Acting as a community gathering place, the Theater is home for over 300 events per year, bringing people together from all over the state of Wisconsin. Our Performing Arts Season delivers a diverse lineup of Tony and Grammy Award winners, emerging artists, and world-renowned performers to North Central Wisconsin. With a mission to enrich the lives of members of our community, The Grand offers more than shows. In addition to our Performing Arts Season, The Grand’s Community Engagement Series pushes the performing arts from the stage out into the community, helping to fulfill The Grand’s mission to ENTERTAIN, EDUCATE, and ENRICH. The Grand also features the Arts In Education Series, bringing curriculum-based performances to over 17,000 of our area’s students. A cornerstone of the community, The Grand Theater brings the best of the performing arts to North Central Wisconsin.

“
As part of The Grand’s commitment to engage and enrich the community they have partnered with Hadley Family Trust on the Access For All Series. This series enables community members who face challenging circumstances to experience the performing arts at The Grand regardless of their economic status. Everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the power and wonder of the arts. The performing arts play an important role in creating vibrant communities where people live, work, and play; and that is made possible through this series.
“We are proud to be able to support this program giving opportunities to the community to experience the performing arts. We are honored to give back to the community that supported our business and family for over 51 years”. MARK & DEB HADLEY

SECURITY POLICY For the safety of all patrons, staff, and performers, The Grand has adopted enhanced security measures for the 2019/20 Season. We take patron safety very seriously, and we have elected to join the ranks of the hundreds of venues across the country that have been implementing new security procedures. We have worked with industry leaders to develop security procedures which we hope will provide peace of mind for our patrons, while also providing the same exceptional guest experience you have come to expect at The Grand. As of October 2019, all persons and bags are subject to search upon entry. Bags or purses larger than 8.5” x 11” x 5” will not be allowed in the venue. The Grand asks patrons to leave oversized bags in their vehicle.
When you arrive at The Grand for a performance, a representative from the theater will visually examine each patron’s bag to see if they meet the size guidelines, and also to see if they contain any prohibited items (listed above). We are happy to answer any and all questions about our enhanced security procedures. Please call 715-842-0988 or email info@grandtheater.org with your inquiries.

Community Engagement Series WITH A MISSION TO ENTERTAIN, EDUCATE, AND ENRICH NORTH CENTRAL WISCONSIN, The Grand Theater pushes the performing arts from the stage into our community. Through workshops, pre-show activities, and free cultural events, the Bridge Clinic Community Engagement Series
not only makes the arts more accessible in North Central Wisconsin, but also offers unique experiences through which community members can connect more deeply with the arts. Show Enhancement Activities: Pre-show lectures, exhibits, and performances immerse patrons even further in evening performances. Community Engagement Events: From film screenings, to dance lessons, to group sing-alongs, to improv workshops, these free events explore creative ways to engage our community in the arts. Workshops & Residencies: Bringing main-stage
performers into schools allows students to interact with and learn from professional artists, giving them a behind-thescenes look at the life of a touring artist.
Don’t miss out on our next karaoke night, fitness class, or popup exhibit! Visit The Grand online at www.grandtheater.org/ programs for a complete list of all announced Bridge Clinic Community Engagement Series events. Like us on Facebook to be the first to know when new events are announced!
The Jerry Awards and the Central Wisconsin Jerry Ensemble JERRY AWARDS As Wausau’s home for the performing arts, The Grand is proud to support the fantastic local theater produced in our community. For the past four years, The Grand has partnered with Overture Center in Madison to encourage, recognize, and honor excellence in high school musical theater through the Jerry Awards. Theater educators and industry professionals review productions at more than 90 high schools in 30 counties across the state, give valuable written feedback, nominate outstanding performances, and often discuss productions with students in person. Participating North
Central Wisconsin schools are recognized at a special event at The Grand in May, and award recipients are invited to perform at the Jerry Awards Show at Overture Center in June. JERRY ENSEMBLE Now in its third year, the Central Wisconsin Jerry Ensemble is the premier performance group representing the Jerry Awards in our region. The Ensemble features select performers from schools participating in the Jerry Awards program, selected through auditions each year. Under the direction of Marshall DeLonay, the students spend each season building their technical skills in acting, singing, and dancing,
and performing in Wausau and across the state. This year’s Central Wisconsin Jerry Ensemble features 16 talented students from six area high schools. You can see these incredible performers in action before select performances at The Grand and performing throughout Wausau. Check The Grand’s website to see where they’re performing next! www.grandtheater.org
