Corcoran is able to help interested parties learn about the community and what there is to do here. And she’s a master at giving virtual tours via the 96-inch high resolution screen displaying Google Earth. Corcoran can “fly” people home then bring them back to Northern Colorado for an aerial view of Northern Colorado’s treasures — from the Colorado State University campus to Loveland’s sculpture parks. It’s a resource that The Group’s Broker Partners make use of as well, especially for clients moving in from out of state. “I’ll have their home city on the screen when they walk in the door,” says Corcoran. “It’s the ultimate icebreaker. They talk about their home, and it gives the Realtor® a sense of what type of place they live in now, and what they might want when they move here.” Kathleen Hollerbach, The Group’s Relocation Director, provides another layer of resources for potential newcomers to Northern Colorado. One of the only full-time relocation specialists in Northern Colorado, she works both internally and externally to help people bridge the gap between curiosity about the region and becoming a new resident. She interfaces with The Group Realtors®, other brokerages, relocation management companies, as well as small and large corporations looking to recruit new hires.
Sometimes this means connecting people with the right agent for them as they try to move to or from Northern Colorado; other times it involves putting together non-vendor-driven information about the community or building a tailored tour of the region. “Especially if someone has no familiarity with Northern Colorado, they often don’t know where to start to find the information they need. I can give them the resources — Do they need a mover? Demographic info? Major employers?” she says. “I have resources I send them that consolidates that, that helps them decide if Northern Colorado is a good fit, helps them make the move, and connects them to the agent who will take it from there.” Both Corcoran and Hollerbach contribute to The Group’s ability to support the people moving into (or even out) the region. In fact, both women have won awards for the work that they do. This year, Hollerbach’s department won for providing exceptional service to Relocation Management Companies. Corcoran has won for the City of Fort Collin’ Visitors Center Certified Ambassador Program. And they’re both ultimate ambassadors for their company and community.

A bike recipient tells Santa what they want for Christmas.

Decades long program provides bicycles to children in need.
Between its impressive ridership, ever-improving infrastructure, and excellent safety record, Fort Collins is a great place to ride a bike. In fact, People for Bikes named the Platinum Bike City the best place in all of the United States to ride a bike in 2018. So it’s no surprise that The Group helps youth participate in this favorite activity every holiday season via Christmas on Wheels. More than three decades ago, The Group, Inc.’s Harv Nesbitt had an idea. He wanted to give a bicycle to a kid in need. Tapping into the notorious generosity of The Group Partners and staff, he collected enough money to make that gift happen, and in the process started what would become a company tradition. This season, 18 years after Harv’s passing, a host of Northern Colorado children will get bikes thanks to the program.

From the early days of Christmas on Wheels, it’s been a true coming together of local love for the community. To raise the funds, the Christmas on Wheels committee puts together some entertainment and ask fellow Groupies to contribute during a single sales meeting.

“My dad basically would just act foolish and make people laugh, and they figured out if they could make everybody laugh a little bit, they gave a little bit more,” says Broker Partner Matt Nesbitt, Harv’s son and the t Christmas on Wheels coordinator. These days, Matt continues his dad’s tradition, teaming up with fellow Group Partner Joe Ryk to do a little skit before they pass the hat. Typically, this single meeting raises enough funds to purchase bikes for 30 to 40 kids. They also pick up accessories such as helmets and bike locks, and purchase smaller gifts for siblings in the household. To stretch the dollars as far as possible The Group leaned on a partnership with Archie Solsky of Lee’s Cyclery, who provided the bikes at cost and helped get every child sized and set up. And although Lee’s sold to Trek Bicycle Corp. in June, the company is continuing the collaboration. To make sure they have the right bikes (and the right number), Matt or one of the other committee members reaches out in the fall to local non-profits that serve families in need. “We get the names, the genders, and approximate size of each child. Then I submit the list to Trek Bicycle, and we order the bikes appropriately for each kid — whether it’s a 10-speed or an 18-speed,” says Nesbitt.

They’ve worked with Fort Collins based Project SelfSufficiency for years. The organization assists lowincome families in Larimer County to achieve economic independence. And when the holidays roll around, they try to brighten what can be a tough time for struggling parents and kids alike. Part of that is through Christmas on Wheels. “It’s just a tremendous opportunity for our kids,” says Project Self-Sufficiency Finance Coordinator Connie DeMercurio. “What better gift to give a kid on Christmas than a bike? It’s just such a wonderful opportunity for our families.” Finally, in December, it’s time to actually gift the bikes. And The Group makes sure the kids know this event is for them. Santa Claus makes an appearance, Christmas music is played, and breakfast — including cinnamon rolls donated from the Silver Grill — is served. Moving companies donate trucks and time to bring the bikes to the event and representatives from Trek Bicycle will help the kids get set up with their new wheels.

McElroy was appointed by Colorado Governor Hickenlooper as a Real Estate Commissioner from 2011-2017 and was the Chairman of the Commission from 20122014. Bob Sutton named Realtor of the Year by Fort Collins Board of Realtors Bob Sutton, Broker Associate/Partner with The Group Real Estate, was honored by the Fort Collins Board of Realtors as their 2018 Realtor of the Year. Sutton began his real estate career in 2001. In addition to a successful career in sales he also has a passion for teaching and mentoring fellow Realtors. Bob has served on the Board of Directors for the Fort Collins Board of Realtors from 2015-2018. In addition he has served as the Marketing Committee Chairman for the Home Builders Association and most recently he acted as Interim CEO at FCBR putting his own career on hold. Helen Gray, Marketing Director, Retires After 38 Years with The Group

Those are popular terms these days, but she was an innovator in that space,” says Tom Flanagan, Chief Technology Officer. But Gray stresses that she couldn’t have accomplished nearly as much if she hadn’t been working with a team that was so game. The Realtors were always willing to try new things.
