The President’s address I’m delighted to welcome you to The Hardware Show 2022, especially after the considerable uncertainty and disruption of the past few years. Our last Show in February 2019 was a huge success and we’ve returned to Citywest again this year, for what I’m certain will be an even more successful event. Thankfully Ireland finally appears to be coming out of the worst effects of COVID and generally our sector is seeing some green shoots with the prospect of growth in the years ahead. This years show is a sell-out with over 150 exhibitors, all very much looking forward to welcoming you back to the first major trade show of its type in years. These exhibitors, all key suppliers you will recognise, are keen to demonstrate and discuss with you their latest product and service offerings and innovations. With so much on offer I would encourage you to carefully plan your visit in advance and to help with this exhibitors are categorised in this guide under four groupings: Home, Garden, Build and DIY. The theme of innovation is central to this year’s show, whether it’s a totally new or upgraded product, a digital or on-line initiative, or a new service offering. A Judging Panel of experts will assess a large cohort of entries from across the different categories as they determine highly coveted awards for Category Winner, with the awards presented and the Overall Winner announced at The President’s Ball on Sunday night - read more about the Awards on page 48.
As with previous shows, your feedback and opinion is essential in building upon the foundations for the next show in two year’s time, so please complete the post-survey link that will be emailed to you after the show closes on Monday. The strength of any association is in its membership and Hardware Association Ireland (HAI) is the national representative body for hardware/DIY retailers and builders merchants, as well as manufacturers/distributors to the trade. HAI uniquely represents all levels of the supply chain and includes within our membership ranks national and international companies, multi-branch chains and smaller independent hardware businesses. If you are not already a member, I urge you to come on board and please drop in to the HAI Member Zone, towards the centre of the venue, where myself and my HAI colleagues would be delighted to have a chat with you about how the Association can add value to your business. Making the most of your visit to the show Walking a trade show can feel exhausting without a well-laid out plan of what you’re going to do and who you’re going to see in order to maximise your time.
HERE ARE A FEW IDEAS TO HELP YOU PLAN YOUR VISIT:

Pick up a goodie-bag on arrival at the Show, with thanks to Wavin!
The Innovation Awards – showcased at the entrance to the Show, the Category winners from Home, Garden, Build and DIY and the Overall Winner are on display. Make this the first stop on your plan of walking the show. Look for new products. Particularly in areas that your customers, staff or suppliers have highlighted. It’s important to differentiate your product offering and especially when competing with bigger stores in the market. Visit the HAI stand – visit Hardware Association Ireland on stand C18 where you can have a catchup with the team and find out about their latest services and activities. Network with other retailers and merchants – there is plenty of extra catering space at this show to sit down, chat and relax. There are coffee spaces on the main floor of the exhibition and upstairs in the main lunch catering area. Seek help and advice from suppliers on everything from marketing and advertising support to staff training.

These are two full days out, so for you and your staff members to make the most of it, make sure you have a plan. The show should pay for itself several times over by what you learn and/or buy. Make sure there is an ROI on the expense of attending.

Take pictures of the features and the stands - exhibitors, draw followers to your organisation’s stand and visitors, tell the world which stand or feature you like best. Leave Dublin Airport and follow signs for the M50 Motorway southbound from the M1. Travel on the M50 southbound through the toll bridge and take exit 9 off the M50 towards Limerick and Cork. After approximately 8 km you will see a sign for Citywest Hotel, labelled 3a, take this exit. Exit off the N7 and carry on straight for approximately 1 km and the Hotel entrance will be on your right-hand side.
DIRECTIONS FROM DUBLIN CITY CENTRE:
From the City Centre, follow signs for the N7/Cork/ Limerick/ Naas Road southbound. Continue onto the N7 and after approximately 8 km you will see a sign for Citywest Hotel, labelled 3a, take this exit. Keith focussed on finance in his university education, graduating from DCU with a BA in Accountancy and Finance in 2001. Keith worked in Fund Management with BISY’s and JP Morgan for 3 years before transitioning to Import and Distribution for 5 years and in 2009 moved to the merchant and retail industry providing margin software applications, consultancy and margin development programmes to businesses. In 2011 Keith began working with the founding members to form Allied Merchants Buying Association and became CEO in 2014.
Pat Moore - Chadwicks
Pat Moore has worked in the building materials sector for the past 30 years. He began his career in Atlantic Homecare and Woodies before moving to the merchanting side of the business with Heiton Buckley and Chadwicks. Pat is currently the Chadwicks Group Category Director with full purchasing responsibility. He is also responsible for analysing market data and insights to determine construction industry and consumer trends which informs the Groups purchasing strategies.
Lourda Kildea - Topline
Lourda is the Director of Purchasing & Marketing with Amalgamated Hardware PLC since October 2021, coming to her role with 14 years’ experience in similar positions within the Home, Garden, DIY and Heavy Build sector. She has a well-honed acumen for business, coupled with an MSc in Management Practice from Trinity College Dublin. As well as hands on experience of the complete supply chain, from product design (own brand), packaging, sourcing suppliers, negotiation, relationship management, and marketing through to retailing and selling. This experience is born from a progressive career spanning 25 years plus, which includes, Senior buyer roles with Dunnes Stores, Associate Director (Head of buying) with Roches Stores, Purchasing Director, and other Marketing and Consulting roles. Her range of experience gives her an invaluable 360 degree insight of the full supply chain, which she uses to inform and drive change to provide best commercial offerings and service.
