What The Hereford Cattle Society does for Young Members? A number of Events & Competitions held Annually include:Young Handler Competitions at the National Horned Show, National Poll Show, Great Yorkshire Show, Scottish National Show, Autumn Calf Show at AgriExpo, Carlisle, Midlands & East Anglia Calf Show & National Christmas Calf Show. Northern Ireland Hereford Breeders’ Association also hold a number of competitions throughout the year. Additionally, there are also a number of Young Handler Competitions held in-conjunction with other many summer shows. The “Denis Jones Memorial Overseas Bursary” is utilised by the Society to fund 75% of the cost of accommodation and flights to attend either: The Canadian Western Agribition - the Canadian National 4-H and Youth Judging Competition (Applicants must be aged between 18-21 years) Or the World Hereford Conference held every four years (Applicants must be aged between 17-26 years). The Hereford Cattle Society organises an Annual National Stock-judging Competition held in-conjunction with the Royal Three Counties, taking place on the Saturday of the show. Teams of three are welcomed to take part in what is always a well attended and competitive Event.
The Hereford Cattle Society sponsors up to four teams to Compete in The National Young Show Stars Event held on the Royal Three Counties Showground in Malvern each Spring. Teams of three from different Beef Breeds compete in various categories, including; stock-judging, show preparation, building a promotional breed stand and culminating with one team member being interviewed in the show ring.
