THINKING ABOUT YOUR OLD JEWELLERY? WE CAN HELP TRANFORM THIS...
Residents of Parkland on the Glen receive COVID-19 Vaccination
TO THIS!
By Grace Miksa
To enhance the vaccination experience, on January 12th & 13th a bit of an event was created with each resident of Parkland on the Glen receiving a Certificate of Achievement accompanied by music, decorations and branded lip balm for all participants. As you can imagine there was quite a bit of organization to vaccinate just over 180 residents. A very exciting time for Parkland on the Glen. Parkland on the Glen staff will get their vaccinations off-site at area hospitals. We are one step closer!

The 3rd Annual Twas The Bite – Streetsville Christmas Breakfast (DRIVE-THRU) edition was held in the parking lot at Drake, A Firkin Pub in benefit of the local Mississauga food centre, Eden Food For Change. The contactless fundraising breakfast was held on Saturday, December 12th and was organized in compliance with COVID-19 physical distancing and safety protocols.
The Streetsville Christmas Breakfast is an annual tradition presented by TSOC (tsoc.com) in collaboration with Twas the Bite Before Christmas (twasthebite.ca). This initiative brings together community stakeholders including first responders, businesses, local artists, media, volunteers and the public in the spirit of giving. A complete list of participants and sponsors can be found at streetsville.org. This event continues to be organized at a $0 cost as a result of generous in-kind donations ensuring 100% of the funds benefit the charity. Over 650 breakfast meals were served to more than 200 vehicles. Free basketballs, compliments of NBA superfan Nav Bhatia, and Home Hardware-Streetsville Christmas wreaths added to the festive spirit. The arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus was heralded by the Mississauga Town Crier, accompanied by his wife. Musical accompaniment was provided by River North, ToneFusion Trio and Michael Bones. Early in the morning, honorary guests included legendary Mayor Hazel McCallion and Toronto Maple Leafs icon Paul Henderson.
Other guests included celebrity chef-Massimo Capra, and Mississauga Mayor-Bonnie Crombie. Chief organizer Imran Hasan (also most seasonally dressed) announced that THE COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITY MADE A REMARKABLE COMBINED DONATION TOTALING MORE THAN $33,000 FOR EDEN FOOD FOR CHANGE!
Gourmet
SNACK IDEAS for those with a SWEET TOOTH
We all find ourselves craving sweets from time to time. Chances are when you want to indulge, it’s usually on a decadent cake or chocolate bar.
INSTEAD OF SPENDING MONEY ON A STOREBOUGHT TREAT, WHY NOT ENJOY THE TASTE OF INDULGENCE RIGHT AT HOME? This gourmet snack idea won't break the bank and is sure to impress your family. A fun take on cheesecake, it combines toffee, sweet and salty kettlecorn popcorn and chocolate for an easyto-eat dessert. You still get the rich and creamy texture like you would from a cheesecake but with an added crunch from the popcorn.
Popcorn-Coated
CHEESECAKE ON A STICK Prep Time: 20 minutes ı Serves: 8
INGREDIENTS • 8 slices large prepared frozen cheesecake • 1 bag (220 g) Orville Redenbacher sweet and salty ready-to-eat kettlecorn, chopped • 1 cup (250 mL) sponge toffee pieces • 1 lb (450 g) dark chocolate, melted
DIRECTIONS STEP 1. Skewer widest end of each cheesecake slice with an ice pop or wooden craft stick; freeze until firm. STEP 2. In shallow dish, stir together kettle corn and sponge toffee. Place melted chocolate in bowl; dip each cheesecake slice into melted chocolate, shaking any excess chocolate back into bowl. Coat in popcorn mixture. STEP 3. Transfer to parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Freeze for about 10 minutes or until chocolate hardens. newscanada.com 10

HOLLY JOLLY SANTA Tour Article and Photography By Peeter Poldre
On December 21st, the First Annual Holly Jolly Santa Tour took place. Santa Claus travelled through Lorne Park for some much needed holiday cheer!
Whiteoaks Lorne Park Community Association (wlpca.ca) invited Santa to wave as he was drawn by horse and carriage. Children and adults excitedly watched him go by from within their own households or front yards. For safety reasons, Santa did not make any stops, and neighbours were asked to follow public health direction and maintain 2m physical distance. Residents could tune into Radio Humber for holiday music and important timely updates on Santa sightings along the route. Santa made sure to visit Crescent Road to see the festive decorations and support the street’s initiative to raise donations for The Compass Food Bank. The local community sponsors who made the event possible included The Regan Team, Battaglias, Le Delice, Blair Ann Photography Studio, and Team Watts Real Estate. 12

he Canada Goose must really know how to keep warm in our cold winters since it has given its name to a world-famous winter coat company. The intricate layers of outer feathers are the first barrier to keep out the damp and cold. These photos were taken with a Nikon 80-400mm zoom telephoto lens on a Nikon D850 body at a distance of 10 meters.
