Burlington’s
Photographer Robert Todd of Burlington, can find photographic inspiration everywhere. His preferred subjects are natural landscapes, but he also loves to take editorial shots and capture street scenes where his pictures can really tell a story. His eye for composition and lighting has developed over years of practice and he credits his technical knowledge to the Sheridan College Digital Photography courses he took while he was recuperating from a serious illness.
In 2018, Robert was the recipient of a Burlington Arts & Culture grant for his project ‘Burlington, A City through the Seasons’. The exhibition included 16 of his framed images which were on display at multiple locations across Burlington including City Hall, the Performing Arts Centre, and the Tourism Burlington Visitor Centre. The photos featured many of the city’s most beautiful, walkable, bikeable, and transit accessible locations which are free to visit and photograph year round.
You can find examples of his work in the Burlington Official Visitors Guide as well as in the City of Burlington postcards / E-postcards, offered through Tourism Burlington. Recently, several of his photos were displayed on Tourism Burlington’s Instagram page as the featured artist during Tourism week (May 25th - May 30th 2020).

LIVING HEALTHY WITH , VITAMINS & SUPPLEMENTS
What are the Benefits of Taking Multivitamins? It is clear that a multivitamin supplement has the ability to increase our wellness. Calcium and Vitamin D are proven to aid in bone health, Vitamin D also supports a healthy colon and may prevent colon cancer and many chronic conditions, Folic Acid is proven to reduce birth defects and has been linked to a lower risk of heart disease, colon cancer and other cancers including breast cancer, B Vitamins are proven to increase energy and aid in neurological functions, Magnesium is proven to relax the body, antioxidants are proven to prevent certain cancers, and both Vitamin C and Zinc are proven to increase immune function. These are just a few of the benefits a multivitamin has to offer. According to a report from Oregon State University, “About 75% of the US population do not consume the recommended intake of fruit, and more than 80% do not consume the recommended intake of vegetables.” The 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans suggests that nutrients that are
often under-consumed included vitamin D, calcium, potassium, fiber, and iron. In addition, research shows that adults with high intakes of added sugar in the diet had lower intakes of many micro-nutrients, especially vitamin A, C, E, and the mineral magnesium.
Are Multivitamins All We Need? Although multivitamins are a great supplement to a healthy diet, everybody has unique health needs. Health should never be approached from a one-size-fits-all mindset.
“
About 75% of the US population do not consume the recommended intake of fruit, and more than 80% do not consume the recommended intake of vegetables.

very day, we all strive for balance. We try to eat right, exercise more, and sleep better. We try to navigate through our days and weeks with as little stress as possible, taking everything in stride. But sometimes, even when we are doing our best, we need a boost; we need to increase our body’s wellness to deal with the stress, poor sleep and dietary deficiencies that come from a busy life. That’s where supplements come in. In order to fill our nutrient gaps, most of us have looked to the once-a-day multivitamin for help. So, here’s a quick guide to your multivitamin questions.
For this reason, a multivitamin may not fully address health concerns like poor digestion, inability to fall asleep, or exercise recovery. There are many supplements that can improve specific health needs. For example, Omega-3 fatty acids can support the health of those with high triglycerides, while garlic can help to reduce high blood pressure. Taking multiple vitamins personalized for your needs is better than taking one multivitamin, but finding a specific supplement and vitamin routine can be difficult and time consuming. In addition, there are many supplements that negatively interact
with prescription medications. For example, taking an antidepressant with 5-HTP may result in too much serotonin in the body, leading to a dangerous condition called Serotonin Syndrome. You should also be cautious of taking too many vitamins and supplements. Persona’s algorithm is built to create a supplement program that is unique to your body’s need, while ensuring your routine is safe.
What are the Best Types of Multivitamins and Supplements and where can I get them? Several years ago, Tim Krukoski, owner of the Watershop store in Burlington read an article that stated that over 45% of all Canadians used at least one nutritional supplement. “I help provide pure, healthy drinking water already so it just made sense to me to start selling vitamins and supplements as well,” said Tim. Looking for a multivitamin or supplement that is natural, allergen free and highly bio-available (easier for your body to absorb) is not as easy as it sounds and it took Tim some time before choosing the right brand - Nutridom. According to caforia.com, Nutridom is one of the top 3 brands to choose, especially for joint pain. They recommend Curcumin, Glucosamine and MSM and Serrapeptase to help with inflammation, often a source of pain in the muscles and joints. Nutridom can be purchased at the Watershop, 775 Woodview Road in Burlington. This article is mostly from the Benefits of Taking Multivitamin Supplements by Tamara Bernadot from www. personanutrition.com dated April 8, 2019, Use of nutritional supplements 2015 - Statistics Canada and from caforia.com article dated July 15, 2018. INGREDIENTS • 1 pre-made pizza dough, uncooked • 6 slices of prosciutto, cut into smaller strips • 3 peaches washed, dried and sliced into 1/4” wedges, skin left on • 3/4 cup crumbled blue cheese into 1/4” pieces
PEACH + PROSCIU Flatbread
• 1 cup arugula • 3 tbsp maple syrup • fresh ground pepper
Prep Time: 45 minutes ı Serves: 4
DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 425°F STEP 1. Generously grease a large sheet pan with oil. STEP 2. Remove the pizza dough from bag, and using oiled hands, stretch the dough out as thin as possible from the centre of the dough to a flatbread type shape, but it could fill the entire sheet pan. STEP 3. Once you have shaped the dough, let it rest for about 10 minutes. STEP 4. Dock the dough generously with a fork, and then place in middle of the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes, or just until crust starts to turn a light golden. STEP 5. While the dough is baking, prepare the rest of the ingredients. STEP 6. Once the dough is par baked, take out and set oven to broil. STEP 7. Arrange the peach slices and the blue cheese on the flatbread. STEP 8. Place the flatbread back into middle of the oven, and bake until cheese is melty and peaches are softened, and crust is a deeper golden brown (about 3-5 minutes). STEP 9. Remove flatbread from the oven and place the prosciutto and arugula on top, then drizzle the maple syrup, and add fresh ground pepper. Cut, serve, and enjoy!
