Columbus-Style Pizza Trail

celebrates national pizza month

In celebration of National Pizza Month in October, Experience Columbus is launching a new Columbus-Style Pizza Trail designed to help visitors and locals alike discover pizza that’s uniquely Columbus style. Traced back to 1934 and defined by its signature thin crust, edge-to-edge toppings and smaller, square-shaped cuts, a long list of Columbus makers pay homage to the unique style of pizza found throughout Ohio’s capital city. Specific flavors and closely guarded recipes vary shop to shop, with many having been handed down through generations of Columbus families and revered by generations of Columbus-style pizza lovers. The new trail uses a free digital pass making it easy to explore local restaurants and check-in at participating stops along the way. After just four stops, pizza lovers will earn a super-soft Columbus-Style Pizza Trail T-shirt. Sample a pie from every stop within one year and you can earn a stainless-steel pizza cutter and hot pad. Trailgoers will want to make sure that they dine-in or carry-out as delivery orders are not eligible for trail participation. While Columbus-style may be less familiar for some, it’s not new. This thin-crust edge-to-edge style has been around for more than 85 years, and many local businesses have been perfecting their pies for several generations. The pizzas may look similar in the crusts and cuts, but the flavors are unique to each location, and we’re confident trailgoers will enjoy every bite along the way.” The new Columbus-Style Pizza Trail features the following 18 Columbus restaurants: Antolino’s Pizza, Bexley Pizza Plus, Cardinal Pizza, Donatos Pizza (Downtown/ Short North, Dublin, Hillard North, New Albany and OSU campus locations), Gatto’s Pizza, Grandad’s Pizza, Josie’s Pizza Hilltop, JT’s Pizza, Pub & Patio, Panzera’s Pizza, Pasquale’s Pizza & Pasta House, Tammy’s Pizza, TAT Ristorante Di Famiglia and Vick’s Gourmet Pizza. The Columbus-Style Pizza Trail is one of seven curated guides presented by Experience Columbus, the destination marketing organization for the Columbus region dedicated to growing visitor spending and enhancing the visitor experience. Other trails include the Columbus Coffee Trail, Columbus Distillery Trail, Columbus Live Music Trail, Columbus Outdoor Trails Pass, Short North Art Trail and CBUS SOUL Sculpture Trail.
