THE WEATHER’S GREAT for DRYING CLOTHES No matter how efficient your dryer is, drying clothes on a line in your yard is even better. It’s free, easy and uses no electricity. Reduce your carbon footprint. With less energy used, fewer generation plants are required and greenhouse gases will be reduced. Most people prefer the fresh smell of clothes dried in the sun and hanging clothes to dry reduces shrinkage and fabric wear. Clothes don’t fade more quickly if they are sun-dried. In fact, putting clothes in a dryer will break the fabric down and fade clothes more quickly than sunlight. The lint a dryer catches is the fabric of your laundry being broken down. Sun-dried towels too scratchy? Pop them in the dryer for five minutes at the end to soften them.
