WELCOME W

ELCOME TO the latest edition of Inside Line for the 2016 Sandown 500. This year we’ve changed the way we share our Doric and Cowdroy V8 Supercar Racing programs with you. Bigger and better than ever before, we’ve teamed up with front-running V8 Supercar outfit Tekno Autosports for the 2016 season. We’re very proud of these changes to our 2016 program. After introducing ALG sister company Cowdroy to our motorsport program last year, we’ve again seen significant Cowdroy branding on the outer livery of the #19 Holden Supercar throught the 2016 season. Doric branding has also featured on the inside of the racer and has been seen right around the world via the series’ extensive television coverage. We are also pleased to be able to continue our long relationship with V8 Supercar driver Will Davison, who has been behind the wheel at Tekno this year. It’s great to have Will on board once again as our Doric brand ambassador for the sixth consecutive year. He is such a big part of our racing family and we’re proud to stand beside him during this new venture at Tekno. We are also continuing our support of our longest running ambassador; motorsport legend John Bowe. We have supported JB in the Touring Car Masters

series for many years and it’s exciting to watch him strive to back up his 2015 series win. JB is entertaining, engaging and a legend who continues to deliver value for the Doric business. ALG is proud of our various associations in motorsport, with the 2016 season marking Doric’s 12th year delivering money can’t buy experiences for our valued clients and staff. Our sponsorships have taken our brand exposure to a new level and helped raise the professionalism and image of the Doric brand. Now we hope to continue this exposure for Cowdroy. Motorsport is competitive, exciting, passionate and innovative. The team here at Doric and Cowdroy stand for all the same great values.

We hope you enjoy the Sandown event with Doric and Cowdroy and follow our racing adventures throughout the rest of the 2016 V8 Supercar Championship season. NIGEL LONG Group CEO, ALG

OPENING SHOT

FLYING HIGH DORIC AND COWDROY ARE AIMING FOR THE TOP IN 2016 WITH ONE OF SUPERCARS BRIGHTEST STARS

D

ORIC AND Cowdroy have a new brand marketing and customer activation program for 2016. Central to the 2016 program is an exciting new partnership with front-running V8 Supercar outfit Tekno Autosports, supporting its racing ventures throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Parent company Alchin Long Group (ALG) will be building upon many years of loyal commitment to Doric Ambassador Will Davison, joining the star driver in his new role with Tekno Autosports. Doric branding will feature throughout the inside of the #19 Holden V8 Supercar cabin and be seen widely via the series’ extensive Australiawide television coverage. Cowdroy branding will also feature on the outer livery of the Tekno entry during the 2016 Championship season. Doric is excited to continue its long-standing relationship with racing star Will Davison in 2016, with the driver continuing his role as Brand Ambassador for the 6th consecutive year.

John Bowe will also continue into his 10th year as a Doric Ambassador contesting the Touring Car Masters series and is looking to back up his 2015 series win in his all-Aussie Holden SLR5000 Torana While door and window hardware manufacturing and racing high-speed Supercars may appear to have little in common, Tekno Autosports, Doric and Cowdroy are proving they’re truly a match made in heaven. In just four short years, Tekno Autosports has gone from a rookie race team to a front-running force in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. The popular team first stepped into the series in 2011, but its roots run deep into the early 2000’s grassroots motorsport scene. Like Doric and Cowdroy, at the heart of Tekno are its personnel. The squad has formed one of the tightest, most effective and inspirational organisations in the industry thanks to a constant drive and a rich winning culture. The team is made up of industry leading engineers and mechanics whose combined skills are driving the team to the top ranks of the sport. Together Doric , Cowdroy and Tekno continue to climb the ladder of success by driving innovation and striving towards a bigger and better future. That’s why, when long term Doric Ambassador and Supercar star Will Davison made the switch to Tekno in 2016, it made perfect sense for Doric and Cowdroy to follow. The exciting new partnership has seen the #19 Tekno Holden Commodore race throughout five different states and one territory so far this year sporting both Doric and Cowdroy branding. For the team’s new star, Will Davison, the move has paid dividends over and over again, with the driver claiming one win, one podium place and eight more top ten finishes so far this year. The experienced racer is a perfect fit with the exciting and innovative team, having amassed 18 wins and 52 podium finishes over his illustrious Supercar career. Davison wasted no time getting up to speed in 2016, racking up his first win with the new squad just two rounds into the season. The win at Tasmania’s Symmons Plains Raceway cemented confidence in both the driver and team for their first season together. And now, half way into the season and sitting comfortably in sixth place in the standings, Davison has his eyes set firmly on the finish line.

ARCHIDEX 2016 O

ver July 20-23, Doric exhibited at 2016 Archidex, an international architecture, interior design and building exhibition, held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia. As one of the Southeast Asia’s leading exhibition and networking events, and certainly Malaysia’s largest annual trade exhibition for the architecture, design and

building industries, Archidex provided Doric with a fantastic platform to showcase our products. With this great opportunity, the Doric Australia team – our director, marketing manager and two product managers – along with the Doric Asia-Pacific team, including new Doric Malaysia General Manager Dwayne Ng, set up our exhibi-

tion stand featuring our latest, innovative products. The event was also a great opportunity for the Doric team to get an update on the industry; Archidex gave us a comprehensive overview of the many products available in the market as well as up-andcoming trends in the architecture and building trades.

THE

INNOVATORS DORIC’S DN8000 LOCKING SYSTEM HAS TAKEN OUT THE TITLE FOR MOST INNOVATIVE COMPONENT AT THE AWA AUSFENEX AWARDS

L

eading Australian hardware manufacturer, Doric, has taken out the title for the Most Innovative Component at the AWA AusFenEx 2016 awards. It was the company’s celebrated DN8000 self-latching multi-point locking system that took top honours at the annual event last week, winning the judges’ favour across a range of criteria. The DN8000 is the first locking system to be designed around the requirements of the Australian market and the world’s first product to automatically close and latch under potentially damaging wind loads. The innovative product addresses a need for a multi-point locking system that is both corrosion resistant, and also able to maintain extremely high performance by self-closing and protecting a building in high wind situations. “We’re so proud of this product and it’s great to see the whole team recognised for the countless hours of hard work that went into turning this idea into reality,” said Alchin Long Group CEO Nigel Long. “Innovation is what drives our industry. Our capacity to think outside the box to solve complex issues is what dictates our success as a business and helps influence the direction of the industry. It’s very exciting to be a part of that process and I’m so proud of the whole team that made the DN8000 what it is today.” This isn’t the first time Doric has been recognised for its innovative products. In 2007 Doric’s DH40 Adjustable Hinge took out the ‘Most Innovative Component’ at the AWA Design Award, and in 2009 the Doric Mk 4 Chainwinder won the same award. AusFenEx is a national conference for the Australian fenestration and glazing industries attended by representatives from industries including window and door manufacturers, glass processors, glaziers, skylight manufacturers, aluminium surface finishers and more. The AWA’s award for most innovative component was created to recognise products that challenge growing issues present in today’s market and was judged on a number of different criteria including creativity, originality, meeting a specific market need, sustainability and energy efficiency.

PARTNERSHIP

THE ALCHIN LONG GROUP IS THE OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF AUSTRALIAN YOUTH SAFETY PROGRAM, NO SECOND CHANCE

1) PALMERSTON N2C is a revolutionary Youth Safety Campaign which focuses on saving teenage lives by educating Australia’s young men and women on the dangers of street violence and the realities of road carnage. On June 17th N2C visited Palmerston Senior College in Darwin to present to 120 students. “It made myself and everyone else think about the dangers on the road and how it can impact others. Other schools need the knowledge as well.” - Allison Weber

2) SOUTHPORT On August 5, N2C presented to over 120 year 12 students at The Southport School on the Gold Coast. ”I think the whole presentation was really good, because it demonstrated how good and bad decisions can impact my life. It made me realise that there really are no second chances when it comes to making decisions.” - Nick Potter

3) CLEVELAND In the lead up to the Supercar weekend in Townsville, the N2C team visited the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre for the third consecutive year. The team spoke to around 40 14-17 year-olds at the centre. “Despite their challenging back grounds, the messages of Paul, Matt & Warren certainly got through as there was complete silence from the crowd throughout the whole presentation and at the end, most of the kids shook our hands and thanked us for speaking to them.” - Andy McElrea, Director

WILL DAVISON W

ILL DAVISON is off to a flying start in 2016. After making the big move to front-running V8 Supercar team Tekno Autosport at the beginning of the year, Will has hit the ground running. The 33-year-old has racked up eleven top ten finishes throughout the year so far. A breakthrough win at just the second round of the season in Tasmania was a huge confidence boost for the entire Tekno team. The win was Davison’s first since the Perth round in 2015 and was a big leg up as the Championship shifted into gear.

ONE Will starts the Sandown round sixth in the Championship standings, with less than 200 points separating him from the next closest rival. With ten different drivers taking wins in the first nine rounds of the season, competition is fierce at the front of the field, but Will is confident the Holden team will be able to continue its run of form at the first endurance event of the year. And with accomplished racer and Tekno team boss Jonathon Webb on board as co-driver of the #19 Commodore, things are looking good for the team.

“We’ve had some frustrating moments during the year but you learn from those and move on. I know we’re going to be strong in the Endurance Cup with Jono Webb stepping up to drive alongside me at Sandown, Bathurst and the Gold Coast. “The whole field is so competitive this year but Tekno has been working overtime to make sure we can give Sandown everything we’ve got.” “It’s a great event and one that will be very important for our Championship, so I can’t wait to get out there and have a crack!”

JOHN

BOWE J

OHN BOWE is proving once again that he is the man to beat in the 2016 Touring Car Masters Series. Now over half way through the season, the Doric Ambassador and reigning TCM champion has asserted his dominance over the field with five race wins and another five podium finishes. JB heads into the next round with a sizeable points lead over his closest rival and is well placed in the championship hunt. The racing legend has taken four Touring Car Masters series titles since he joined the category in 2008 but is showing no signs of slowing down.
