WELCOME W
ELCOME TO the latest edition of Inside Line for the Newcastle 500. Building on a very successful 2016 season, the Doric and Cowdroy Supercar Racing programs have continued again this year with front-running Supercar outfit Tekno Autosports. We’re very proud of our committment to our motorsport program. After introducing ALG sister company Cowdroy to our motorsport program two years ago, 2017 again saw significant Cowdroy branding on the outer livery of the #19 Holden Supercar throught the season. Doric branding has also featured on the inside of the racer at all 14 events so far this year and has been seen right around the world via the series’ extensive television coverage. We are also pleased to be able to continue our long relationship with Supercar driver Will Davison, who has been doing an increduble job behind the wheel at Tekno this year. It’s been great to have Will on board once again as our Doric brand ambassador for the seventh consecutive year. He is such a big part of our racing family and we’re proud to stand beside him as he continues to push to new heights on the race track. We’ve also continued our support of our longest running ambassador;
motorsport legend John Bowe. We have supported JB in the Touring Car Masters series for many years and it has been thrilling to watch him strive to back up his 2016 series win this year on track. JB is entertaining, engaging and a legend who continues to deliver value for the Doric business. ALG is proud of our various associations in motorsport, with the 2017 season marking Doric’s 13th year delivering money can’t buy experiences for our valued clients and staff. Our sponsorships have taken our brand exposure to a new level and helped raise the professionalism and image of both Doric and Cowdroy. Motorsport is competitive, exciting, passionate and innovative. The team
here at Doric and Cowdroy stand for all the same great values. We hope you enjoy the Newcastle event with Doric and Cowdroy and continue to follow our racing adventures into the future. NIGEL LONG Group CEO, ALG

FLYING
HIGH DORIC AND COWDROY ARE AIMING FOR THE TOP IN 2017 WITH ONE OF SUPERCARS BRIGHTEST STARS
D
ORIC AND Cowdroy are back in 2017 with a new brand marketing and customer activation program. Central to the 2017 program is the continuation of the exciting partnership with front-running Supercar outfit Tekno Autosports, supporting its racing ventures throughout Australia and New Zealand.. Parent company Alchin Long Group (ALG) will be building upon many years of loyal commitment to Doric Ambassador Will Davison, joining the star driver in his role with Tekno Autosports. Doric branding will feature throughout the inside and outside of the #19 Holden Supercar and be seen widely via the series’ extensive Australia-wide television coverage. Cowdroy branding will also feature on the outer livery of the Tekno entry during the 2017 Championship season. Doric is excited to continue its long-standing relationship with racing star Will Davison in 2017, with the driver continuing his role as Brand Ambassador for the 7th consecutive year. John Bowe will also continue into his 10th year as a Doric Ambassador contesting the Touring Car Masters series and is looking to back up his 2016 series win in his all-Aussie Holden SLR5000 Torana. While door and window hardware manufacturing and racing high-speed Supercars may appear to have little in common, Tekno Autosports, Doric and Cowdroy are proving they’re truly a match made in heaven.
In just four short years, Tekno Autosports has gone from a rookie race team to a front-running force in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship. The popular team first stepped into the series in 2011, but its roots run deep into the early 2000’s grassroots motorsport scene. Like Doric and Cowdroy, at the heart of Tekno are its personnel. The squad has formed one of the tightest, most effective and inspirational organisations in the industry thanks to a constant drive and a rich winning culture. The team is made up of industry leading engineers and mechanics whose combined skills are driving the team to the top ranks of the sport. Together Doric, Cowdroy and Tekno continue to climb the ladder of success by driving innovation and striving towards a bigger and better future. That’s why, when long term Doric Ambassador and Supercar star Will Davison made the switch to Tekno last year, it made perfect sense for Doric and Cowdroy to follow. The exciting partnership has seen the #19 Tekno Holden Commodore race throughout Australia and New Zealand sporting both Doric and Cowdroy branding. For the team’s star, Will Davison, the move has paid dividends over and over again, with the driver claiming a number of race wins, including the biggest of them all; the Bathurst 1000. The experienced racer is a perfect fit with the exciting and innovative team, having amassed 18 wins and 52 podium finishes over his illustrious Supercar career. After a fantastic year on track in 2016, Davison has his eyes set firmly on the finish line this year.

ALG NEWS DORIC DN8000 WINS DESIGN AWARD
L
eading Australian hardware manufacturer, Doric has received a 2017 Good Design Selection in the Product Design category at the Good Design Awards. After an extensive evaluation process involving more than 35 Australian and international design experts, the selection jury awarded Doric’s DN8000 High Performance Self Latching Multi-Point System a Good Design Selection. Of the 244 entries to receive the 2017 Good Design Selection, the DN8000 was one of only 18 selected in the Product Design category. The Good Design Awards celebrate the very best in design, innovation and creativity and are Australia’s longest standing and most prestigious design awards dating back to 1958. The innovative product won the judges’ favour across a range of criteria, with the jury commenting: “Very innovative product that is a joy to use. The jury commends the designers for developing an innovative product that solves a real problem in an elegant and clever way. Well done.” This is the second major award for the DN8000, with the product taking out the title for Most Innovative Component at the 2016 AWA AusFenEx awards. “Our company purpose is to create innovative solutions through a culture of empowerment so I am extremely proud of the team for identifying an opportunity in the industry and innovating this solution,” said Alchin Long Group CEO, Nigel Long. “The team is constantly working to develop new products. Innovation through design is what dictates our success as a business and the DN8000 epitomises our work as an industry leader. “It’s wonderful to see the whole team recognised again for their hard work on this product.” The DN8000 is the first locking system to be designed around the requirements of the Australian market and the world’s first product to automatically close and latch under potentially damaging wind loads. The innovative product addresses a need for a multi-point locking system that is both corrosion resistant, and also able to maintain extremely high performance by self-closing and protecting a building in high wind situations.
CHARITY PARTNERSHIP UPDATE The Alchin Long Group is the official sponsor of Australian youth safety program, No Second Chance. No Second Chance (N2C) is a unique and revolutionary Youth Safety Campaign with the clear objective of saving teenage lives arising from the tragic consequences of youth violence and road accidents. Using the dynamic medium of motorsports, N2C confronts the youth of Australia and shocks them into making smart decisions regarding their own safety. The most recent N2C presentation was at Wavell State High School on October 3. The team presented to 250 Year 12 students. This presentation was the result of a last-minute request from the school to address their Year 12 school levers. Wavell State High School is situated in Wavell Heights, seven kilometres from the Brisbane central business district. Approximately one quarter of WSHS students are drawn from a local catchment while the majority of students gain enrolment through selective entry requirements. It was the last day of school before final exams, then schoolies, so the timing of our messages was ideal. “I thought the presentation was incredibly heartfelt and real,” said James Sugden following the event. “It easily drove the message into my head about not making dumb decisions and making the smart choices, and their stories were truly inspirational.” Fellow student Brigitte Freeme echoed James’ sentiments: “My experience of No Second Chance was life changing and through their didactic presentation, I will forever have my perspective changed on what No Second Chance truly means” The next N2C presentation will be in Adelaide in February leading up to Round One of the 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship.

DORIC TEAMS UP WITH TEKNO IN NEW FACTORY
D
oric has teamed up with Tekno Autosports for the build of their new state-of-the-art factory in Yatala, Queensland. The pair collaborated on the project to fit all the doors on the new 4500m2 facility with Doric hardware. The facility, completed earlier this year, houses both Tekno’s racing and road car performance branches. While the racing side of the company focuses on the team’s GT and Supercar programs, Tekno Performance specialises in road car performance engineering upgrades for late model Holden / HSV, Ford / FPV and European vehicles. Team owner Jonathon Webb said the facility offers the team a chance to build and improve. “We love everything about the new factory,” Jonathon said. “It really gives us room to grow and improve both our on track performance and more in house modifications for our customers.”
