Living with Nature

Camp IslanDreaM is a private facility approximately 35km from Nairobi City Centre, 15km from Ongata Rongai, and 6km from Nazarene University, just off the Rongai–Kitengela Road.

The IslanDreaM is located in a camp setting within a 10 acre property, filled with mostly undisturbed savanna grassland and whistling acacia trees. Rich varieties of birds live in the trees and sing most of the day. For those escaping the crowds, The IslanDreaM offers you an exclusive relaxing and peaceful experience close to nature. It is ideal for short holidays, teambuilding, retreats, weekend getaways, honeymoons, workshops and strategic planning meetings.

Our Facilities Accommodation

We offer both camping accommodation and luxury tented accommodation:-

Private Campsite N M-Kamping

This has seven tents set up in a circle and always ready for occupation. Each can take 8 people; so 50 guests can be accommodated at a time. The campsite is ideal for school excursions, teambuilding activities, and also get-togethers. The tents are lighted, and served by beautiful tented washrooms and showers supplied with both cold and hot water. For those more inclined to the real pitch-tent camping, the campsite ground area is also available for pitching your own tent. House Keeping Services and special “Glamping” accommodation are available on request.

Luxury Tented Private Chui and Zebra Camps

Here, we offer 12 Serviced Luxury Tents available for double, twin or triple occupation. They provide you with luxury accommodation and in-tent amenities, and the dense water-front vegetation allows for both privacy and comfort.

Family Tent

Ideal for families with young children, our family tent has two separate wings, featuring a double (Queen) suite and a Twin suite with a shared adjoining bathroom area.

Dining

The IslanDreaM features Themed Restaurants offering indoor and outdoor dining, serving a continental cuisine to tantalize your taste–buds. With time, our ‘Farm-to-Fork’ dream is realizing more and more fresh produce from our own farm onto your plate. Our Executive Chef’s catering policy takes into serious consideration your religious, cultural or medical concerns. (Kindly inform us at the time of making your reservation).

You will find yourself passing through natural shrubs and untamed vegetation, with birds staring curiously at you, busy ants crossing your path, dragging heavy bounty for storage and completely oblivious of your existence. Enjoy nature, tread carefully lest you crush an innocent creature; take time and let the world go on without your intrusion, for just a little while.

DreamWorks Meetings is a facility catering for formal meetings for small groups. Full Day and Half Day Conference packages are available. (Prior booking required).

Our in-house Reading Club offers a range of genres to satisfy readers wishing to unplug and reconnect with the old-fashioned way of “holding the real book”.

Relaxation

At Pumzika Lounge, guests can relax when not inclined to outdoor activities.

The Imara Fitness Centre - Allows you to work out your own fitness regime during your stay.

Swimming Pool

The “Dream Pool”, is really your Dream Pool. Pool-Side dining and special events arranged with prior booking.

Activities Currently Available at The IslanDreaM Include:

1. Strolling or brisk walking, jogging and cycling along the 1km perimeter track within the Camp.

2. Relaxing in the gardens, alive with bird-life and insects; and where you may also spot the tortoise, turtle, wild hare or African Kangaroo.

3. Fishing, Bird walks, Nature walks within and hikes to the nearby Mbagathi River, where wildlife can be viewed at the adjacent Nairobi National Park. A rich variety of local and migratory bird species can also be viewed.

4. Safari Kwa Juma - This is a special farm visit a favorite for children, and also enjoyed by adults. They are able to interact with farm life, feeding birds and animals, and even choosing some enrichment to their next meal! (Booking made after breakfast on the same day)

5. Special Bush Dinners. (On prior reservation).

6. Sundowner Activities within the camp or at the Mbagathi River Front, overlooking The Nairobi National Park. (This is suitable for groups, and requires prior arrangement 24hrs before).

7. “The Big Tea” (Chai Kubwa) from 1630 to 1800hrs at the Butterfly Garden.

8. “Happy Hour” at the Butterfly Garden from 1800 to 1900hrs. (On prior arrangement).

9. A variety of sporting activities in the events and K-A Street

Football fields, are available by day or floodlit by night.

10. Imara Fitness Centre – Open from 0700-0900hrs and 17001900hrs. (Appropriate gym attire).

11. Swimming in the Dream Pool 0700-1800hrs.(Appropriate swimming attire, including for children).

12. Wild Paintball for Gangsters and Pirates (On prior booking).

13. All kinds of teambuilding activities arranged with experts (On prior request) day or night.

14. Game Drives to the adjacent Nairobi National Park, which may include a visit to the Safari Walk. Park fees and entry fees to the Safari Walk are additional charges. (Prior Booking required).

15. A wide variety of in-door games. (Ask at the Karibu Centre).

16. Pool Table and other table Games. (Book at the Karibu Centre).

17. Kite Flying in the open field during good winds. (Arrange at the Karibu Centre).

19. The Greatest Treasure Hunt. (Arrange during your reservation; conditions apply).

20. Local excursions to Kitengela Hot Glass and Nani Kitengela. (Book at the Karibu Centre).

21. Special excursions to nearby Karen, with visits to the Giraffe Manor, Karen Blixen Museum,

A tour of the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Elephant Orphanage (Sanctuary), Bomas of Kenya, Kazuri Beads and Galleria. Tours of the Nairobi County can also be arranged. (Book at the time of making your reservation.)

22. Seasonal Zumba Parties and Movie Nights. (Announced beforehand).

23. Holiday Camps for School and Church Groups at Special Rates with all game facilities all day and on special arrangement at night under floodlights.

24. Nature Hunts; The IslanDreaM’s unique version of the treasure hunt – where the goal is to spot listed animal, insect, plant and rock species found within the facility and document with photographic or other evidence.

26. Roller-skating – with coaching assistance if required. (Ask at the Karibu Centre).

27. PS FIFA and other games projected on the big wall-screen, and giving you a whole new experience of something you thought you already knew.

Important Things to Note;

1. The Camp (including ALL outdoor and indoor areas) is a NON SMOKING zone.

Admission into the facility is on prior reservation basis.

3. All outdoor dining and activities are subject to prevailing weather.

4. All transfers from the JKIA or Wilson Airport are CURRENTLY arranged on request.

5. Payments on site are preferably cashless by MPESA, AIRTEL MONEY, CREDIT AND DEBIT CARDS.

6. CHILDREN MUST BE CLOSELY SUPERVISED at all times while at the camp.

7. Accommodation is on Full Board basis.

8. Water supply is from a borehole within, and is wellbalanced.

9. Medical advice – It is advisable to carry all regular medication, as the nearest well-stocked pharmacies are in Ongata Rongai and Karen. Simple illnesses / emergencies can be handled with the emergency medical cart, but serious illness / emergency would require transfer to The Karen Hospital or Nairobi Women’s Hospital.

10. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended, particularly for international non-immune travellers.
