JINGLE BELL ROCK

This fast-paced, fun-filled show is a high-energy celebration of the holiday season. With such classics as “Sleigh Ride,” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” Jingle Bell Rock features a live band, talented singers, lots of holiday fun and of course, everyone’s favorite, Santa Claus! This talented cast guides us through the holiday season with rousing energy that keeps the house a-rockin’! Be prepared to have a very merry Christmas with this family holiday event and its contemporary spin on a classic yuletide review.

13TH ANNUAL GINGERBREAD HOUSE EXTRAVAGANZA

Jacksonville Historical Society 317 A. Phillip Randolph Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32202 Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The suggested donation for Adults is $5. For children aged 3 -16, the suggested donation is $3. Come enjoy gigantic, creative gingerbread houses built by chefs, bakers, architects, engineers, culinary school students, families, young people and other individuals. Gingerbread and confection creations from traditional houses to animals and fairy tale themes offer holiday magic. In addition, children can participate in a scavenger hunt to find items hidden throughout the display. This is an important fundraiser for the Jacksonville Historical Society.

SYNCHRONIZED NIGHTLY TREE LIGHT SHOWS

Enjoy the holiday season and let your eyes be amazed as the Christmas tree comes to life! The light shows will take place every hour, on the hour through New Year’s Eve, featuring all new light synchronization and music for the 2014 season! The Landing’s 56-foot tree comes to life to the sounds of your favorite holiday songs each evening, performing a 10-minute synchronized light show with more than 78,000 sparkling L.E.D. lights. Each show is free and open to the public. The shows take place Sunday through Thursday 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. (four shows each night) and Friday and Saturday 6 p.m. – midnight (seven shows each night).

In addition to walking among the thousands of lights strung throughout the Zoo, guests can also enjoy a unique view of ZOOLights by boarding the Zoo’s lighted train, or riding the carousel and 4-D Theatre Ride featuring the Polar Express.

Every year, The Community Nutcracker delights audiences of all ages with its performance of The Nutcracker Ballet. The Community Nutcracker issues 2,000 free tickets to various Jacksonville agencies and organizations to attend a Community Service Night performance. Residents and clients from area nursing homes and nonprofit agencies are also able to attend. A portion of the proceeds from each performance goes to local charitable agencies, and to date, The Community Nutcracker has raised over $430,000. For the last decade, Dreams Come True of Jacksonville has been its primary charity.
