Local fan based country artist J. Collins captures audiences through his powerful stage presence. Collins has opened for Molley Hatchet, Chris Young, Colt Ford, Lo Cash Cowboys, Big & Rich, Kellie Pickler and many notable others. His single “Party Our Hats Off” has been played nationally and his newest self penned CD and video is entitled Come Get Some.

The Chris Thomas Band is a local versatile act that will perform as a 20 piece Big Band at the fair. Chris Thomas is an outstanding vocalist and rousing entertainer. Known for an ability to glide across musical genres like old school jazz to the classic soul sounds from Motown and even to modern soul, The Chris Thomas Band’s sound is music to anyone’s ears.

Thompson Square is a husband and wife country music sensation. Their self titled debut and Just Feels Good albums have gained them recognition in the country music scene as one of the genre’s top married couple’s country artists. Meet Kari & Billy, fiddle and guitar country music duo and Nashville rising stars! As a brand new duo Kari & Billy have opened for several major artists such as Florida Georgia Line, Chris Young, Kellie Pickler, Montgomery Gentry, Rodney Atkins, and more. The duo, together with their band of professional Nashville musicians put on a show that features high energy fiddle songs that will get you on your feet and pure country vocals that will touch your heart! American Idol winner Scotty McCreery’s deep voice and strong work ethic has catapulted him towards success. Having been mentored by Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, RaeLynn earned a spot opening for Miranda Lambert’s 2014 Platinum Tour on select dates in July. Her single “God Made Girls” is the highest charting debut single by a solo female in 2014 (Billboard & Country Aircheck).

Brian Howe was the lead singer of Bad Company from 1986 – 1995. As one of rocks legendary voices, he led Bad Company to sold out arena tours around the world. While with Bad Company, Howe recorded the hits “Holy Water,” If You Needed Somebody,” and “How ‘Bout That.” Since becoming a solo artist, he has released two albums Tangled In Blue (1997), Diversity (2006), and Circus Bar (2010). Str8up is one of the top R&B dance bands straight out of Jacksonville. They will tempt you to “get up offa that thang” and groove to the rhythmic sounds. Members of Str8up have performed with artists such as Wilson Pickett, The Manhattans, George Clinton, and the Atlanta Rhythm Section. A few of the songs they play include Bruce Springsteen’s “Hungry Heart,” Temptations’ “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer,” and Martha Reeves’ “Dancing in the Street.”

CIVIL AIR PATROL

Saturday, November 15, 10 AM – 4 PM An auxiliary of the United States Air Force, the Civil Air Patrol of FL Wing Squadron 383 at Craig Air Field consisting of students ages 12 – 21 will demonstrate flight simulations, wooden plane landing strip and fatal vision goggles. Foam hand launch rockets will be distributed while supplies last.

This exhibit focuses on the value of Florida’s agricultural system and educates audiences through the Extension Learning House, a handmade interactive and educational home. Featured exhibits also include soy bean crops, bees and honey contest, hand pollinating, backyard poultry, Wheel of Fortune with prizes, and the country store.

CONTESTS FAIR SCHOLARSHIPS

The Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair is a source of scholarships for students looking to further their education at a college, university or technical school from Duval, Nassau, St. Johns, Baker or Clay counties. Since 1955, more than $1,000,000 has been awarded to area students. Programs such as the Fair’s own Lasso Club take an active role in contributing to the futures of local high school students, as well as providing grants to 4-H and Future Farmers of America. Scholarships will be awarded before the Scotty McCreery concert on Monday, November 10.

Alumni teams from participating colleges and universities in Northeast Florida will compete in a variety of fun and entertaining activities, Wednesday, Nov. 12th at 7:00 PM. All winnings will benefit the scholarship fund of the participating university.

4-H & FFA LIVESTOCK

Gather the herd and check out this year’s 4-H and FFA livestock featuring beef cattle, horses, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, geese and turkeys. Stop by Old McDonald’s farmhouse to watch baby chickens hatch and visit farmer Tom to learn to make a rope and talk to Scrambler the robotic egg.

ARTS AND CRAFTS

Some say art is an expression of oneself, and we must say, crafts are definitely an art! Contests include fine art, practical art, photography, Christmas crafts, needlecraft, weaving and more. Express yourself!
