Biggins asks the question – what can we learn today from this singular politician, and the momentous time in our country’s history he dominated?
One of Australia’s favourite performers, Jonathan Biggins, is Paul Keating – visionary, reformer and rabble-rouser – in this highly anticipated new comedy. Full of intelligence and wit, The Gospel According to Paul is a funny, insightful and occasionally poignant portrait of Paul Keating, the man that – as he tells it – single-handedly shaped contemporary Australia. Jonathan Biggins’ performance as Paul Keating is well known from the long-running Sydney Theatre Company success story, The Wharf Revue. Beyond the canny impersonation, Jonathan, like so many Australians, has long been fascinated by Keating and what Keating means to Australia. Showcasing his eviscerating wit, rich rhetoric and ego the size of Everest, The Gospel According to Paul distils Keating’s essence into 75 minutes. It shows the man who grew up in the tribe of the Labor Party and gained an education at the knee of Jack Lang, who treated economics as an artform, and demanded we confront the wrongs of our colonial past.

Enjoy an intimate evening of Mozart and Schubert with the Sydney Symphony and opera star Emma Matthews. Emma Matthews is one of Australia’s most beloved performers, and one of opera’s brightest stars. Her versatility, charisma and exquisite coloratura soprano are the perfect fit for Mozart’s jewel-like arias, those musical expressions of character par excellence. Schubert’s gift for song shines in his lyrical Rosamunde music and his sparkling Symphony No. 3. Over almost nine decades, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra has evolved into Australia’s leading symphony orchestra. Resident at the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Symphony also performs regularly across New South Wales, presenting a wide array of music – from classical to popular – in collaboration with artists and composers from around the globe.

The all-singing, all-dancing, side-splittingly funny solution to all the world’s problems returns for another year of satirical genius. The West is crumbling, democracy is besieged and the world is run by morons with funny hair. You have to laugh. And that’s exactly what The Wharf Revue delivers. The indefatigable team is back once more to dig through the year’s political dirt and unearth comedy gold. From the movers to the shakers, from the winners to the losers, the stage will be filled with uncanny impressions of the year’s most memorable characters and the moments they’d prefer to forget. Stalwart performer Drew Forsythe returns with special triple-threat guests including the hilarious Simon Burke. The choreography is tight, the wigs are loose, the punchlines are loaded. Everything is ready for a big night of laughter and mayhem. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.

One by one the eggs break open. Except for one. This one is the biggest egg of all.
Exploring resilience, transformation and joy, Q Theatre’s adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling is a celebration of difference. This small scale story filled with spectacle and sound boasts a lot of heart and is suitable for the whole family.

The hens peck, the roosters crow and the ducks quack around the last duckling to break free from his egg. He’s not the fastest, not the strongest and definitely not the most popular. He tries and tries and tries again. He tries until he can’t try anymore. Leaving the farm behind he runs away and comes across a river. What he sees next is something he could never have imagined.

Published by Playlab, this is your chance to see the first production of a show that will be presented in schools around the country for years to come.
I knew visiting a public school was going to be atrocious, I just didn’t think the murders would start so early in the day.
Year 10 Art and Design teacher Mrs Bathory is suspected of being the sadistic, undead serial-killer countess Elrezebet Bathory. It’s pretty obvious to her class of seven girls – yes seven – the last remaining survivors of what the school is calling an outbreak of ‘head-lice’ but what the students of 10F know is really another murderous rampage in Bathory’s quest for eternal youth. Then the boys from Judas Gents turned up. It was never going to go well.

A THEADAPTEDPRODUCTIONCOMPANYBAAMONKEYTHEATREFORSTAGEBY Eva Di Cesare, Sandra Eldridge and Tim McGarry DIRECTED BY Sandra Eldridge BASED ON THE BOOK BY Jackie French Did Hitler’s daughter really exist? This award-winning show tells the story of Hitler’s Daughter through the eyes of four Australian children Mark, Ben, Anna and Tracey. As the friends wait for the school bus in country Australia one rainy morning, Anna begins to tell the tale of Heidi, daughter of the most hated man in history. As Mark becomes engrossed in Anna’s story, the play switches between 1940s Nazi Germany and contemporary Australia. Today, in an age of fake news and fact manipulation, extreme ideologies and rising nationalism, there has never been a more important and relevant time to present this work.
