The Seven Lakes boys’ golf team will once again go into the Regional tournament with an eye on making a return trip to Austin for the state golf tournament. “This is the best team that I have had on the boys’ side since 2007 in the way of talent,” said Seven Lakes Head Golf Coach Sean Ewing. “They guys know how to compete and how to win. I just have to make sure we have a good game plan

in order to whatever course we are playing.” “We are senior loaded,” said Ewing of his team that features his top five golfers being seniors. “I know in Zach (Tracy), Noah (Purvis) and Chase (Ambrose) we have a pretty three steady guys. They are chased an achievable goal in getting to state again.” After the top three, Ewing has seniors Dustin Williamson and Corbin Archer rounding out his top five and he knows their “steady play” will help the team at regionals and at state as well.

At the district tournament, Ambrose ran away with the top score on the boys’ side with a two-round score of 138. Tracy came in second with a 151 score, tied with Colin Mulligan. Purvis came in third with a 153 score, tied with Jamie Rogers. The Seven Lakes’ boys roster consists of senior Zach Tracy, senior Chase Ambrose, senior Noah Purvis, senior Dustin Williamson, senior Corbin Archer, sophomore Dawson Dally, junior Ravi Shekhar, junior Carson Guinn, freshman Hayden-

The Cinco Ranch girls had to battle hard for it but came away a 2-0 win over Katy Tuesday, April 7 and now move on to the semifinals in the soccer playoffs. Both teams battled hard in the first half as Cinco Ranch was able to get off many shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net as the game

remained scoreless at the half. With 32 minutes left in regulation, Katy appeared to take a 1-0 lead in the game when the Tigers were able to score but Katy was called for an offsides and the goal was taken away. Cinco Ranch’s HalleAnne Dure responded with two quick shots on goal but both failed to find the back of the net as the Cougars kept the pressure on Katy. With 20 minutes left in regu-

lation, Cinco Ranch appeared to broke the stalemate with a goal but it too was called back due to an offsides call and the game remained scoreless. Cinco Ranch was finally able to break through and take a 1-0 lead when Dure scored with eight minutes left in the game. Cinco Ranch then came right back to score again when Taryn Siegle scored on an assist from Maddie Gallagher to seal the victory.

For Richard Nordstrom, this season will be his last as head golf coach at Cinco Ranch High School. And this year, he and his teams are hoping to go out with a bang. “This is my last go-around for me,” said Nordstrom, who is retiring after 31 years in the field, the last 13 years at Cinco Ranch. “We have established a pretty good tradition here I believe and won district seven out of the last nine years for both boys and girls. “It is going to be hard to walk away from this group of kids,” Nordstrom said. “I have developed such a close bond with these kids, being in the foxhole

Tooth Truths from Sealy A HEALTHY DIET FOR TEETH The first line of defense: cut down on sugars, and immediately brush food out of teeth. At the very least, have youngsters rinse their mouths with water after meals and snacks, or chew sugarless gum. Never allow your child to fall asleep with a bottle containing milk formula, juice or sugared beverages. A family plan to eat healthy snacks, follow a rigorous home oral care program, and regular dental checkups at our office will go a long way toward a lifetime of happy teeth and shining smiles.
