THE NØRREBRO HAT

by Denise Twum

Sometimes you just want a quick instant gratification project that you can finish in one evening. This hat is just that kind of project, combining simple ribbing with a sand stitch for the perfect, squishy instant gratification hat! (If you’re pretty fast, you can finish it in 2 hours or less!). Named after Nørrebro, the suburb of Copenhagen where I saw (and semi-stalked, for pictures), a lady rocking a similar- looking hat, this hat is also called “Everyone’s Hat” because a friend of mine swears that this hat looks great on everyone, including her. It really is a pretty awesome unisex hat. Knitting kept her company as she traveled to five countries for a year of independent research, and she’s been addicted ever since. You will find her watching a lengthy Bollywood movie or Korean drama while knitting. You can contact her and keep up with her knitting exploits at www. niseyknits.com.

I used the Clover Pompom maker to make my pompoms, so I’ve included this video tutorial by KnitPicks on how to make your own pompom using that same tool. It’s also pretty easy to make a pompom without using a special tool, so I’ve included a video tutorial by Bernat Yarns on how to make a pompom without a pompom maker.
