While North Harlingen Rotary Club Secretary Ellie Santa Ana cuts the birthday cake, charter members Fred Parce and Bert Keyes prepare to receive the first slices of the club’s anniversary dessert. The North Harlingen Rotary Club celebrates its 40th Anniversary this month. During its decades of serving the Valley community, these Rotarians have given generously of their time, talent and treasure to a wide variety of worthy causes. They are strong supporters of education and annually hold speech contests. They have provided multiple thousands of dollars in scholarship support. The North Harlingen Rotary was is partnership with San Benito at the start of its adoption awareness program. From volunteerism to Board membership and strong financial support, the club works tirelessly to advance the programs of Loaves and Fishes, a shelter that feeds the hungry and provides safe lodging for the homeless. Support of the Harlingen Public Library has also been important to members of the club, as is the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
