Mom’s Raised Doughnuts

What You Need 1/2 c water, warm (not hot) 2 pkg active dry yeast 3/4 c milk, lukewarm 1/4 c plus 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp salt F DOO SXUSRVH Ă RXU VLIWHG 1/3 c shortening 2 eggs GLAZE 1 tbsp water, warm (may need more to thin, but thicker is better) 1/2 tsp vanilla F FRQIHFWLRQHUV VXJDU VLIWHG

Make sure mixture is warm, not hot. ‡ $GG F RI Ă RXU HJJV DQG \HDVW PL[WXUH Beat until smooth. ‡ $GG UHPDLQLQJ Ă RXU WR PDNH VRIW GRXJK :KHQ GRXJK OHDYHV VLGHV RI ERZO WXUQ RXW RQWR OLJKWO\ Ă RXUHG ERDUG • Knead until dough becomes smooth and elastic. Place in lightly greased bowl. *UHDVH WRS RI GRXJK DQG FRYHU ZLWK waxed paper.
