Last year was another record breaking year for The Ledges. I want to thank everyone who participated in the golf operation in 2021. It is because of your involvement that we are able to continue and improve our programs. This year you can once again expect to see a program for every type of golfer: the person wanting to learn more about the game, the junior who is now old enough to take up the game and all the golfers who play regularly. Golf is seeing a great boom across the country, and we want to make sure you all have an opportunity to take advantage of all our offerings. As we feed off the energy from last season, we look forward to planning new programs to engage more golfers. In addition to our annual events that we have held for years, we will have new events to appeal to some of our growing groups. This year, we are looking forward to the first Ladies Member Guest and an event designed for our Young Executive golfers. You will be able to find out more regarding these events in the golf booklet that will be mailed in February. With the popularity of the Member Guest Cliffhanger, we will use a lottery system for entry into this year's event. Invitations will go out in February and will need to be turned in by March 15. Then, a drawing will take place March 16 that will determine the field and waiting list order. All Full Golf Membership classifications will have first right of entry into the Member Guest. If it does not fill with Full Golf Membership classifications, Sport Plus Members on the waiting list will be allowed access. We are also looking at ways to increase the field size to try to get as many teams in as possible while maintaining the culture of the event. All past and future champions will have automatic entry into the event, plus the previous year’s flight winners. We look forward to seeing all of you this golf season. We are doing some exciting things at The Ledges, and we are thankful for all your support. Here’s to a great 2022 for everyone and for some great golf and fellowship!

I hope everyone had a happy holiday season. This winter we will continue making several improvements including detail work ahead of the 2022 golf season. We will also be prepping for The Huntsville Championship by fine tuning areas of play and turf conditioning. As we get closer, I will be looking for several volunteers to help out with the tournament prep that week. Last year we had several members assist us in bunker raking, blowing and divot repair which really helped the team. Please let me know if you are interested. Below you will find a list of upcoming projects: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Remove contaminated bunker sand and replace with new sand Limb trees throughout the property and remove dead trees Improve landscaping by adding shrubs and annuals Continue work on fescue stands. Drainage installation on fairways and tees Make upgrades to the irrigation to include leveling heads and replacing old sprinklers 7. Select clearing along mountain slopes 8. Make improvements to the practice area 9. Dredging of ponds on 13 and 14 Those listed above are just a few of the scheduled improvements for this year. Hopefully the winter and spring will allow us to complete most of these projects.
