ROB CLARK
We are in full swing with the golf season and have closed the curtain on our first PGA Korn Ferry Tour event. I hope all of you have had the chance to participate.
I am so proud of this club and the membership, we have a special place. If you have been around the club and the course then you have noticed we have been experiencing unprecedented use of the course. This is wonderful, and it is all our responsibility to help keep this course in the best shape possible. A quick reminder of things to be helping with while you play: Repair ball marks, rake bunkers and fill divots with sand after hitting. These three things will make a positive impact on the golf course. In addition, I want to remind everyone that we have returned to two members per cart. We have so many great opportunities for all golf members this year and we hope you will participate. Coming up for
couples we have Nine Wine and Dine on May 21, June 11 and June 25. With the popularity of these events, we have doubled up in June to accommodate more players. This is a great place for beginner golfers to get their feet wet with organized play. It is a very social setting and designed to have fun and meet other couples. Our Ladies Clinic has grown into something very special with the weekly instruction by the professional staff. We have added some play nights on Thursday starting this month for the ladies in the clinic who want to advance to the playing level. These dates are May 20, June 17, July 15, August 19 and September 9. Our goal in this is to get all golfers acclimated to playing golf with family and friends. If you need any assistance from the golf staff this year, don't hesitate to reach out. We are looking forward to a full and fun golf season.

JIM HOWELL Spring has finally arrived and we are all ready for warmer days and nights. Cody our horticulturist has done a wonderful job this winter prepping the pansies around the putting green and front of the clubhouse. Last fall he planted 4,000 tulips around the hedged area in front of the club. Several different flowers started to bloom in March and continued through the month of April, so make sure you look and enjoy the color schemes around the club. In May he will begin his summer plantings of annuals and perennials around the clubhouse and several key areas on the golf course. The agronomy team spent the winter preparing for the 2021 golf season and the Huntsville Championship. The greens have quickly healed from the aerification and top dressing. A vertical mow and top dressing took place to firm up the surfaces and provide a smoother canopy for consistent putting. The green speeds were on target by early April to be stimping around 10.5’ to 11’ for the golf season and tournament. We typically average those green speeds throughout the season
for our members and guests and sometimes reach 11.5’. Green speeds are always dictated by the weather, growth patterns, firmness, mechanical quality, rolling, and golfing rounds. During the season speeds are checked periodically throughout the season to determine any changes in our turf programs. This year the ownership approved $500,000 capital for equipment needs and replacement of older items in our fleet. This spring our 22 year old irrigation pump station will be replaced with a new variable frequency drive system and flow management capabilities for consistent flow and less wear on the equipment. This addition is very important for the golf course along with the other mowing and mechanical products we are getting this year. Many thanks to the ownership in understanding our needs and newer technology in providing the agronomy team for course conditioning! Regards, Jim
