“Group strategy, future opportunities and development of a growing company.

Supporting the hotels within the group with their own individual strategies both from sales, people, sales development and operations. Interlinking into the ‘Daniel Thwaite’ parent company.

I’m always looking at ways to further develop products and services to stay ahead of the game, down to reviewing cafe facilities, investments into each hotel and a 5 year plan of how the hotels are to look and feel so they fit in to their local markets and environments.”

How long have you worked at Shire Hotels?

What is the most rewarding thing about working in this industry?

“Seeing the people I work with grow and develop within the company. It’s very exciting and rewarding bringing new people in and putting their plans together, seeing who will be the future department heads and general managers.”

“I joined as Operations Manager at our Kettering Park Hotel 18 years ago, before becoming General Manager at North Lakes Hotel. I then returned to Kettering as General Manager before spending eight years at our Aztec Hotel before I became Operations Director.”

What did you want to be as a child?

“From the age of 15 I wanted to be a hotel general manager but prior to that I wanted to join the RAF or become a Police officer.”
