Alyssa Robinson Way Too Many Feels This drawing features the expletive my brain and heart are saying at pretty much any given moment. The black and red color palette for this month immediately got me thinking about the quintessential heart/dagger tattoo aesthetic. April Moralba I love a good cuss word. Fucking shit balls, sometimes cursing something to the high heavens is just the most accurate way of describing how you feel. Definitely my favorite is “Shit.” It’s definitely not the worst word you can use but it’s my most used. It’s just so versatile. It can be used in a celebratory way like: “Shit! That’s amazing.” Or when sometime tells you their hamster just died: “Oh shit. Oh no.” Or in a omg-did-they-just-say-that “Shiiiiiittttt.” Or in anger after stubbing your toe: “SHIT MOTHERFUCKER OW.” And about a million other ways. Shit is my favorite curse word. Jessica Fimbel Willis This is one of my favorite lyrics from the band Frightened Rabbit. Earlier this month they lost singer-songwriter, Scott Hutchison, to a lifelong battle with depression. His music reminds me of a very specific time in my life where I was also struggling and his honesty and openness was so comforting. Even weeks after Scott’s passing, I’m still having trouble coming to terms with it. Frightened Rabbit’s music has been a constant comfort to me over the years. His lyrics are the kind of lyrics that speak to your soul. The things you want to say. The things you’re scared to say. Honest and raw. I miss him. I miss him and I never met him. But I think what’s so special about his music is that through those songs, you felt that commraderie. Like, I’m not alone when I listen to those songs.
