Janna Barrett These are some of the staples at my family’s Thanksgiving feast every year. My favorite is a toss-up between the Sweet Potato Casserole and Pumpkin Pie. No pie ever compares to my mom’s recipe. LEARN MORE ABOUT JANNA:

Ayla mirolo Yeah, I had to be that guy that brings Stranger Things into it. But really, there’s no denying that that ‘demodog’ (“Demogorgon. Dog. Demo-dog. It’s a play on words. It’s like a compound, you put ‘em together. It sounds pretty badass”) really did feast on poor old Mews. L E A R N M O R E A B O U T AY L A :

Kaitlin Callender Any good feast just isn’t complete without dessert. Since it’s pumpkin pie season I decided to break out the pie crust, cookie cutters, and my x-acto knife. I questioned how wisely I was spending my time while working on this submission but I had a great time exploring new ways to play with typography. LEARN MORE ABOUT KAITLIN:

April Moralba Like most kids my age, I was pretty bummed that I didn’t get my Hogswart letter on my 11th birthday. My favorite line from the first books comes as Albus Dumbledore’s welcome at Harry’s first Hogswart feast: “Welcome!” he said, “Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!” LEARN MORE ABOUT APRIL:

KATE LALIME I love having a huge Thanksgiving feast every year, but I’ll be honest, I’d also be pretty happy just eating a huge bowl of mashed potatoes (as long as they are smothered in gravy). L E A R N M O R E A B O U T K AT E :

Kristen Girard It’s simple. I always take more food than my belly can manage, and then I force myself to finish what is on my plate. And I have THREE Thanksgiving meals to deal with this year… LEARN MORE ABOUT KRISTEN:

MAT DUBORD In hopes that everyone else was submitting nice, warm, holiday themed pieces this time around, I decided to go a different route. Thanksgiving is nice and all but Halloween is still the best, and I’m not ready to let it go yet. So behold: Flesh. What a gross sounding word. It’s all gross. The bloody type, the tooth, the word, ugh. Disgusting. Lots of fun to illustrate, though. L E A R N M O R E A B O U T M A T:

Jessica Fimbel This is the most exciting issue/prompt for me because this is my favorite time of the year. I love being home in New Hampshire and hanging out with my family. We have the best time together. We play games, drink beers and eat way too much. What more could you want? LEARN MORE ABOUT JESSICA:

BRITTANY ARITA
You long for innocence. Long for the past in strange ways. Little parts, not the whole. So you loose yourself in slicing onions. Stirring, sifting, straining. You’re just the rising smell of garlic, claiming room by room, any spare air. Just the pinches of basil, oregano, cracked pepper. The heat from an over-worked stove. You long for the past & the present to mesh for a second. A second is all you need for somethings. L E A R N M O R E A B O U T B R I T TA N Y:

Cassandra Lea-Saxton With the opening of The Nutcracker in just a few days at work, there is little else I can think about. The Land of Sweets is full of candy canes, chocolate, marzipan, and of course a sugar plum fairy. Not only is it a visual feast, but who wouldn’t want to be in a land full of candy to stress eat this time of year? LEARN MORE ABOUT CASSANDRA:
